100% agree. But unfortunately, the silly "culture war" issues often rule the day and are #1 in the mind of many voters. Then, these same folks complain and moan the private/charter schools and what they are up to.

You have sparked my curiosity about this so called rivalry between Avery and Mitchell. So I just went and looked and according to the records on maxpreps (2004 to now), Mitchell leads the series 14-10. Id like to see the entire record for the history of the two playing each other.

MR Kidd , i know you are a deer hunter and a avid baseball fan. You need to run out and get that radar gun calibrated on Monday. Pull up on the 40 yard line like it was home plate on Friday night and see what that time is from the 40 to the endzone. I will be there , maybe we can drank a cup of coffee and chew the fat and realize a little banter never hurt anyone.
Ain’t always about how fast you get there. Sometimes, in football at least, it might come down to who you run over to succeed. Check out 1A in the past, as it looks like you have, and you will see ER been referred to as the “speed” team before. Doesn’t matter what the radar gun says, the scoreboard always has the final say.
And yeah I’ve been known to sit in a tree occasionally and way back in the olden days was lucky to be part of a fairly decent high school baseball team
Boom. The greatest “run” in Mitchell history has them up 4 games !? Lol. I’m so glad to put them back in place. Wrestlers are joining back and we are bringing in some kids from Cloudland. Our JVs wore them out this year. On the way up from here. I hate it for the kids… but this is the way. Go Vikings. I guess Qb power in ledger is coming to an end.

" as you refer to Coach Pitman. That great coach has only lost to Avery once in his career and that was this year. Congrats on scoreboard when the team came in overconfident due to your stellar 1-7 record at the time. Heck sometimes that happens to everybody in coaching but it rarely does under Coach Pitman.In fact, he was 10-0 previously against Avery with a combined score of 469-111 over that span (thanks to Heels10 website tip above). In fact, Coach Pitman is 113-31 over his career for a .785 win percentage but I guess that is not "great" in Avery county. Two state runner ups in big 1A and couple of west regional runner ups including barely losing to East Surry (one of the best 1A teams ever) in 2019. Call me when Avery ever gets past the first round in the 1A playoffs (now 2A I guess) and believe me that is really not that hard to do.
And by the way, Mitchell JV's won 48-6 this year for their only victory of the shortened season. So how exactly did you wear us out? So keep running your mouth as Avery people always seem to do and congrats on the win this year. I doubt it will happen again anytime soon.

I will take ER based on experience, tradition and coaching.
Charters need to be held to the same restrictions that other schools are. You pull only from the immediate area you serve and not 25 miles. That would take care of the recruiting (lottery) system that somehow seems to favor good football/track athletes, baseball/softball pitchers, tall basketball players and top notch wrestlers. Put them in a league of their own if they can still have the 25 mile radius.
They have a totally different playbook in general. Like they can hire uncertified teachers and pay them full salary. In a traditional public school if you do that, they must enroll in a certification program and only receive sub pay in many instances.
We want to complain about public schools failing when in reality the state is just lowering the ball and the public schools are the scapegoat.

Now do some quick stats based research on W/L records against teams with a winning record the last 10 years. I have. I can assure you it’s not something you want to look at. Lots of fans come on here and talk all kinds of smack and brag about their teams. It is a message board and is designed to allow folks to express their opinion and be a keyboard warrior. Those teams remaining will win or lose and speed, power, size are all neutral at this point. The teams that execute the best make the fewest mistakes will win and the others will fall off after fantastic seasons of football.
