Closest Conference Races?

What conference in the 1A do you think will be the closest?

There certainly will be some tight battles towards the end of the season, but just wanted to hear your own thoughts.

I think there will be several very competitive conferences this year on the boys side.

Robbinsville and Hayesville will likely battle it out until the end in the smokeys
Looks like Lincoln Charter is ready and willing to push Cherryville in the Southern Piedmont
East Surry, Mt Airy, and Bishop will be pushing Prep and hopefully giving them more than they can take in the Northwest.
1A Alleghany, 1A Starmount, 2A Ashe County, 2A Wilkes Central, 2A West Wilkes likely to battle it out until the end in the Mountain Valley. Of course I don't need to say who I predict will come out on top.

Most conferences have started or will start this week. Enough conference games will be played before Christmas to start to get an idea what to expect.

Mark your calendars for a big mountain battle at Alleghany High School on December 23rd. The 2A Huskies from Ashe County will be coming to town for a big early season test in the Mountain Valley.

SMC had a three-way tie for the regular season title last year--Cherokee, Hayesville, and Robbinsville. All three return most of their key players. Robbinsville hasn't played yet, but Cherokee is undefeated with an impressive blowout win over a 5-2 3A Asheville AC Reynolds team, and Hayesville is playing pretty well, although theyve lost to undefeated 4A Raleigh Broughton and a 2A school from Georgia so far. I expect it will be another good three-way race this year.

Hayesville is 3-3 so far. They also lost to Rabun Gap. Dont think Hayesville is as good as last year. A few more games are needed to determine who the front runner is going to be, but I dont think Hville is as big of a favorite as some think.

After looking into it alittle deeper, I dont think the Rabun Gap loss is that bad for Hayesville boys and girls. Both Rabun Gap boys and Girls beat Asheville High School.

MaxPreps shows Robbinsville boys playing Blue Ridge and Robbinsivlle girls play Rabun Gap. Shouldnt Robbinsville B and G play at the same place? Is Max wrong or do they do this sometimes? Dont remember this before.
