finish a Lil cleaner? Not sure I understand that. Perfection? This is high school football, good high school football. Horses won 43-27. After the 29-0 start they were in complete control with the issue really not in doubt. In my opinion Beddingfield was the next best team besides WRH that the DarkHorses played this year. Beddingfield's 27 points the most points that the DarkHorses haven given up next to WRH's 28. Beddingfield were huge. I'll take the win exactly like it was played and march on to HP Andrews next week ready to do it again.
A pretty good coach who actually coached the DarkHorses once and actually had a undefeated season losing in the championship game once said about a DarkHorse close win, "yall just want to win pretty!" I could have sworn Skinner had well over 200 yards. He was a workhorse tonight and so was our other backs.Our limited passing was pretty successful too!
SWE'98, the Horses ran straight at them at first and the getting to the edge, they had no answer to the quickness and speed. Defensively our secondary was pretty active, 2 pics, should have been a 3rd. I'll give them credit, after a 29-0 sting in the 1st qtr, they didn't quit and played hard to the end, in fact at one point during the game it sounded like some of the hardest hitting of the year.
I understand what you saying Wiz and hey I'll take a ugly win over a pretty loss any day especially in the playoffs but u at least want the guys to play hard the whole game and not get use to slacking off making Lil mistakes in the second like tonight....failed to capitalize on a early turnover defense let#3(Freshman) just cut them up on that long TD run fumbled and let a 342 pound d linemen return it 40+ yards for a TD gave up horrible field position on a long KO return and allowed a wide open receiver to catch a TD pass.....just some of the negative things I saw and the second half....yes the game was not in question at any point thanks to a 22 point 1st quarter but can't have the same mistakes next week up in High Point.....I'm proud of the team happy we won but I would like to see us continue to win aswell
Also shout out to the offensive line they did a great job against a d line that easily outweigh them and we actually had some success running up the middle with two backs going for over 100 Skinner was close to going over 200......he will go over the 2,000 yard mark next week
Yes the Horses made some mistakes. High school football is not a perfect game, but when you can overcome those mistakes (and there will be some in every game) take the momentum away when the other team surges and still win 43-27 over a very good football team, that's impressive. Remember this was a #4 vs a #5 seed playing one another. I may have said this in another post, but we only played one team better than Beddingfield and that was of course Wallace-Rose Hill. The only thing that concerned me was our fumble returned for a TD and our not attemting a field goal to close out the 1st half, and again our not attemting a field goal early in the second half after we were stopped inside the 10 and thrown for consecutive losses. I just think you gotta come away with points in the scoring zone.
I questioned that one myself Chandler was on point with his PATs all night ....those were makable field goals if attempted....next week I think we need to take the points
