Packhorses, judging by your name, I am guessing you are in some way a Clinton supporter or follower. If so, do you know or have any knowledge of this also happening during Johnson's tenure in Clinton? Are the student/athletes finishing the year at Clinton or are they like Johnson and scheduled to start in the summer?

I asked in an earlier post if the Coach Kaba recently hired with Johnson at MC was related to the Kaba kid that played LB at Clinton and then went to South Carolina but no one has responded. I thought at one time someone told me he was from the Scotland area but had somehow made it to the Clinton area.

Seems for whatever reason this might be more accepted this go around with Johnson at a SC school. I know it was suspected the same thing was going on while he was at Clinton but it did not seem many were eager to discuss it.
He played at scotland and at nc a&t

Hard to say. What do you think
I think St. Paul's probably takes the conference. Clinton goes out early in playoffs if they even make it. Hard to produce on offense with no offensive line to block for QB or RB's. QB was probably smart to go with the Coach. Would be running for his life this fall. New Coach whoever it going to be will have his hands full but anything is possible.

I doubt Clinton will drop off that much.

Good assessment. I'm with you. To bad he had to relocate his family to South Carolina to play one season of High School football. But Ol well

From my sources in C-town, he took the QB, the RB, the WR, the DE/TE already. Ones I’ve talked to down that way know this season could be a tough one with 4-5 starters gone.

Yes I understand that. I am asking if he is related to Mohamed Kaba that attended Clinton for a portion of his high school career. 247sports shows Laurinburg as his hometown but he played at Clinton for a couple of years.

Did the Kaba's stay in Clinton after he graduated?

He was the first of the three D1 recruits (that I am aware of) that ended up in Clinton during Johnson's tenure after beginning their career at another school.

Forgive me for asking, just my inquisitive nature.

Mohammad and Karfa are Brothers.

There is no retirement for teachers in NC now. I don’t remember at what point they grandfathered them. My wife went out when she got her 30 years in. I know new teachers being hired only have a 401k to look forward to. That’s not much help later in life.
i believe it was 2018

That is not true. They did away with insurance for retirees but not their pensions.

I’ll have to get my wife to look into that. She retired 1-1-22 and her understanding was they had stopped the pension for newer teachers. I have her on my insurance but she was told when I retired she could get back on the states insurance and put me on it. I can keep my insurance from work but it’s more expensive to do that.

Surprised theres not much noise about a new hire. Seems like everyone and their mama knew about CJ.
Does seem like that. Finding a replacement after reading all the mess up here may make a new coach hard to find. It would seem Clinton is full of drama and going to be a tough job for whoever is brave enough to take it by the way things have sounded up here.

I mentioned in an earlier post things that other Clinton posters posted on this message boards in the past.

As best I can recall, there was something about visitors at practice and possibly videoing the goings on during his first season. I guess it worked for Coach Norman Dail and the Hickory Huskers in Hoosiers, so maybe that was the thought behind it, I also recall "official" Clinton football social media pages and what was "official" and what was not. Even a long time Clinton radio guy had an apparent disagreement with the coach (also alluded to).

Other posters in this thread have explained, albeit in vague details other things that were questionable. I also asked a question about about a coach that will be on the Marlboro staff and if he was any relation to a 5 star linebacker that just happened to find his way on a Clinton roster early in Johnson's tenure only to be followed by other 4 and 5 star athletes transfers from other schools that will be playing D1 next season. We arent talking about a metro area like Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh or even Wilmington but little ole Clinton NC getting these types of athletes.

One other thing that was mentioned that may or might not be true. Was the former coach escorted off campus last Friday? Is that common practice when a coach announces his resignation? If so, could that be considered "drama".

Again, I have no first hand knowledge and am not the only poster with these questions. Perhaps actual Clinton posters (who are still in the greater Clinton and Sampson County area) can expand on these events and provide greater detail. If not, maybe they are just ready to move on.

or maybe all the drama came from the former coach, hearing from people in the know outside these boards is why I stand by my comment on Clinton being better off in the long run without him. Clinton is a great job to get and they will have no trouble getting a great coach to lead their program going forward.

And all that my be true… but had he never interviewed for any jobs he would still be Clintons coach and Clinton would still put up with the so called drama he brings with him … “ he’s flawed but he’s ours”

SOME from this fan base and another going through the same thing have made it painfully obvious how it is "it's not what all you've done for me, it what are you going to do for me next". It's all good while they are at your school and then they leave and they are just the worst.

Great places to eat. Nice complex, loyal fans and plenty Homegrown talent. Several larger cities within an hr of Clinton.
Don't forget they are getting a Starbucks and known for really good bacon around there. Where is this homegrown talent you speak of? Not to long ago up here they claimed Clinton didn't have that anymore. I guess that's why the mention of larger cities within a hr of Clinton.

Better tell your friend to tell them to get a move on it. I hear from my friend there is a lot of work to be done. Has your friend mentioned any of the applicants or is your friend not that close to the program?
Not sure how close to the program he is. Usually doesn’t steer me wrong. He has said around a dozen or so applicants. He didn’t mention names.

I really didn’t mean a hit on Clinton. Back through the 90’s and 2000’s Clinton area was packed with athletes in all sports. I was in my 30’s, early 40’s. I played a lot of tennis in Clinton became friends with several teachers, coaches, ast. Principal and several business owners. They developed their talent as a community. Through those years, the Darkhorses were the best in east in football. Really good support throughout Clinton in all sports. Old school ! Develope your talent. Develope all kids using sports as a platform not just a few that has the talent for the next level.

Agree with your assessment. Clinton recreation department was a big factor in developing and cultivating the talent during that era. Volunteer coaches were top notch. More difficult to find the commitment from volunteer coaches today. I think the recreation football program fell off some and needs to be a priority going forward. There will be some growing pains this upcoming year but community support will never waver.

Just my opinion but I think Clinton will be in better shape without him. That program will have no problem pulling in a good coach. As a fan I love going to that area of the state to watch hsfb. There is so much talent and the fans around there are much more passionate about hsfb. Clinton has a top notch facility and a loyal fan base. Heck who knows, the Darkhorses may be even better this year.
Doubt it
