Clinton @ Bunn updates

Making stuff up... it was 13 seconds on the clock before the last snap, I was there, I looked at the clock. I remember because I even turned to the person beside me after the ball was snapped and said " I can't believe they ran with 13 seconds left." You do not want to argue because you are wrong. You can not stand the fact that Bunn beat Clinton. You along with some of the other Clinton posters thought that you all were going to come to Bunn and walk all over us and it did not happen. You thought there was not way Bunn was going to beat the Horese with Skinner but they did. Now you come on here making up a lie about 6 seconds on the clock. Your mind must be slipping or you hit your head when you ran off in the ditch last night or something. You have got to be kidding me.

Not really wanting to continue this BUT where can we see this video where it shows the clock and the field... I've tried the links posted and there isn't anything there??? The youtube video doesn't show both... trying to share with my contact with NCHSAA, but unable to find what Clinton people are seeing. Thanks!

Better deal for me1294 I just block you as a poster and don't have to pay any attention to you. You don't get it, I've never posted anything negative about Bunns team, it's the officials that made the mistake Good luck against Monroe next week's and Goodbye!

I do get it. Bunn was not suppose to beat Clinton and it hurts your feelings. So you come up with some story about 6 seconds on the clock and the officials horrible decision.

The only consolidation to the Clinton folks is that Bunn will absolutely get curb stomped next week

Yep it was 6 second left on what should have been the last play. The clock had stopped I don't remember wheather Bunn had called their last time out or wheather we called it seeing that Bunn was going to run a play other than kick a field goal. At any rate when Bunn took the field going to a non kicking formation we all looked at the click which showed 6 seconds. I remember our rising saying well this is the last play of the game. The ball was snapped the ball carrier was wrestled to the ground after about 5 seconds elapsed . A second later when time expired, they were still getting up from the tackle. The at approx the 13 second mark the officials put a second back on the clock. Bunn didn't have 13 seconds they had only 6 seconds which had expired. Our players raced toward the center of the field knowing time had expired and the game was over. Do you think they would have reacted that way if the game wasn't over ? They wouldn't have risked penalty of delay or whatever if it wasn't over. Tough way to lose. I won't keep dragging this out but you asked and I thought I'd respond.
Yep the Heels lost but they had a good year

You can keep repeating the same lie but it still is a lie. It was 13 seconds on the clock not 6. As for you personally blocking me,, that is funny, a grown man can not even take a little heat for something he is making up on a website. Seeeeensiiiiitive.

Ive now seen the radio/tv broadcast of the game. I stand corrected. There were 13 seconds left on the clock as Bunn snapped the ball on the play in question. Guess what time still expired! The ball carrier was tackled as 5-6 sec elapsed. Players weren't in position nor set and the official moved away from the ball after resetting it as 13 seconds expired. Apparently 1 second was put back on the clock. If the Bunn carrier spiked the ball the 13 seconds had expired. The immediate reaction of both teams players tells the story,

Hilarious. Yesterday the play took 11 to 12 seconds. Like I said yesterday, since the clock only counts down by seconds, it is extremely possible and highly likely that the official that was trying to stop the clock still saw the clock registering 1 second. That is is why one second was put back on the clock.

I'm going to try and let this be the last thing I say on the game.... I believe that Clinton feels robbed and I know I would probably feel a lot like that too in the same situation, but it really is perspective because, yes, Clinton players on sidelines were starting to cheer and celebrate, but if you watch the video on YouTube the Bunn players were pointing at the clock and saying there was time left. I'm sure either team would have liked to have won by a couple of touchdowns, but it wasn't the way it went. I think that means both teams were pretty equal overall and to hate on Bunn because what happened, (specifically the REFS saying there was time left) is petty. Clinton's #22 & 23 were really good... & Bunn had good players.... it was a great game to watch... Now on to watch the Panthers!!

The bottom line is this:

The clock is issue is pretty close. I watched the videos and it is a lot closer than some think. I feel there is no way all of that happened in :13, but it is close enough to understand both arguments. The part that is true is that the clock hit :00 and :01 was placed back on the clock. The part that is NOT close is the fact that the line was NOT set when the spike took place. There should have been an illegal formation/procedure penalty assessed to BHS. Once this penalty was marked off, the ball would be placed and the clock would start on the ref's whistle. It is nearly impossible that the center would be able to perfectly synchronize his snap with the official's ready to play whistle which would result in the final :01 ticking off the clock. Because the penalty wasn't called, they were able to snap the ball for the FG attempt without worrying about the clock starting.

These officials choked in crunch time. They couldn't agree among themselves whether their should be any time remaining on the clock. Finally, the ref made the decision to put :01 back on the clock.

On the last drive, they missed an ineligible receiver penalty against BHS when they had the ball 1st and 10 from their own 49. The TE on the left side was covered up, yet he went out for a pass.
None of the bickering will change anything. Clinton fans, players, and coaches will never believe that game wasn't taken away from them, and rightfully so in my opinion. But, if the tables were turned, I would be just as happy as the Bunn folks were Friday night.

For the record, not ALL of the officials agreed that time needed to be placed back on the clock. The back judge keeps the clock on the field and had :00. He was overruled by another member of the crew who felt there should be :01.

Where did you hear that at? I'll have to ask my NCHSAA contact about that one, because I totally didn't get impression at all... opposite that actually, but you could know something different than what I've heard..... hmmmm....

All I can tell you is that it isn't just message board speculation. I can't go into detail without breaking the trust of my source. At this point, it doesn't matter anyway because nothing is going to change.

lets just say Bunn is very fortunate to be in the state championship game. they squeaked by East Duplin and they squeaked by Clinton. but in the playoffs you have to have a little luck.

NCHSFootballFan15, I am in agreement with every aspect of your post. I don't think it could've been said better.
4thefunofit, first no one is knocking your team, it's the officials unless you think they're connected? It was a poorly officiated football game to be a game officiated at this level. Second you keep referring to your "source". Everybody's got sources. I can assure you this has been reviewed and evaluated all the way to the top. It's not going to change the results or anything, but it will be duly noted. Let's just leave it at that and go forward. Good luck to Bunn next week against Monroe

You can see for yourself if you download the Periscope app. Search FranklinCoNews. The 2nd & 3rd videos in their feed shows the plays in question. At the end the 3rd video (around 25 minute mark), the announcer very clearly states that there was :13 left when they called the timeout. The next play is the run play that you can see in the 2nd video. There was :07 on the clock when the back is tackled. This run didn't result in a first down, so the clock should have continued to run. Count the time it took them to "line up", then snap the ball for the spike. I counted 10-11 seconds. If that isn't good enough, take a look at the lineman running toward the line as the ball is being snapped for the spike. This footage was recorded from the Bunn sideline and you can even hear someone say, "That's game".

A. The clock stopped on :01 for about 3 seconds, then went to :00. I hope the Bunn fans are buying the clock operator a nice steak dinner somewhere tonight.

B. There VERY clearly should have been a penalty for illegal procedure. Had this been called, there would've been no way to get a snap off immediately upon the ref's starting the clock...even with the phantom :01.

It's pretty hard to believe a team can run the ball for a small gain, get everyone lined up properly, and spike the ball in :13 of game time. NFL and College players can't even accomplish that. It just isn't possible and it was complete BS. I hate it for the team, the coaches, and the fans. Disgusting ending to an otherwise great game.
Again your post pretty much says it all!

Bunn was the team I was pulling for, but they're not "my" team... graduated from large school in Raleigh, but Bunn is close to my home.... as for source, just saying that I wanted to see what they have to say and wanted to get info together... my husband makes the awards for the NCHSAA, that's all I was saying... thanks and good luck to everyone's school!!
