The KM kid that transferred to Crest was a pretty good running back before being moved to defense. My feeling is that he wants to play that side of the ball at Crest.

The QB position at Burns will be huge. I don't care if it is a young QB that has to learn on the fly. If we take a few bumps here and there so be it. Come playoff time we could be very good but after this season it will only get better for years to come. Being young last year was very good and as the years progress it will pay off. Depending on this 8th grade class we may Freshman starting. The offseason will tell a lot. Who is going to buy in and work their butts off in the weight room. Cleveland County will be fine next year and for years to come.
All I can say is wow right now. I am hearing some wild stuff right now. The amount of ADULTS reaching out to many of KM’s young players and their parents trying to get them to transfer is mind boggling. It was bad last year and now it’s worse. We already have to fiend off in county “advisors” and neighboring county Gaston but now Mecklenburg county too? And how the heck do Hough reps know where Kings Mtn is located? Hough, Indy, and WC people have all contacted KM parents recently. I guess Mecklenburg, Cumberland, Gaston, and Durham counties isn’t a big enough recruiting base for Hough. Parents need to be wary of some of these promises being made especially some of our single mothers who are always more susceptible to this stuff. Parents have to understand that their kids aren’t ENTITLED to college offers, kids have to EARN those college offers.

I knew about 2 of the current freshmen possibly making a move about a month ago based off their family members post on FB.(think it has more to do with another sport) Sometimes families have to wait and look at the whole picture before listening to what others in their ear is saying.
Actually it’s not him. William has close to 30 offers at this time so his family would not even entertain those conversations. We have alot of talent in the program right now. Some of these kids are jumping up on college recruiting radars which is getting the attention of those outside the area. KM will be really good the next three years as long as we stay relatively healthy and keep most of our key players which I believe we will.
It's a small world man. 7 on 7 club teams, kids recruit and know other kids, kids using the same position trainers, and of course social media all contribute to this.
Schools can use people loosely connected to the program as intermediaries and sell a lot of things like you said.
The best thing for schools to try and do these days is keep communication open with their kids and offer all of those solutions I mentioned above. A number of schools now have their own 7 on 7 teams and have trainers that partner with them for example. If you don't try, it's inviting the world in to try and recruit them away. That's life in 2025 HS Football.
I understand the 7 on 7, camps, friends, annd social media aspect of the recruiting. Thats always been around. My issue is high school coaches reaching out should be a big No No. What I am referencing is assistant coaches contacting kids and families. Also once a family tells you they are fine with the school they are attending, you should not keep pressing them to transfer at that point. That’s my issue. If a parent is reaching out to get information from a program, that is different in my eyes because I believe parents have a choice to place their kids where they feel like is best for them. The advantage of being in Cleveland County is that there is not much other public schools can offer that isn’t already in place. The we have “great facilities for our football players” and “we have college coaches come to our school” isn’t anything new to us.
I know you can’t but the coaches doing that should have their names and school planted around so we all can know.

That will need to be up to those parents that have been contacted directly. One of these parents told me directly how they were pitched and what he told them back. When he asked his son about if any of his teammates have mentioned anything about coaches reaching out to them the responses were pretty eye opening. The complete brazenness of it smh. It’s not your normal hey take a look at us conversations. It’s full recruiting pitches lol. Some of the other parents confirmed contact but most weren’t entertaining the conversation. Pretty sure everyone will be aware next week.
Also I will be remiss if I don’t take WC off the previous programs I mentioned. That contact was through kids that played together on youth teams so I can’t count them in. There was also another Char-Meck program reaching out for “basketball” options but they happen to be a football “king”.
Those parents that are happy and don't want to transfer should talk to their head coach and AD about it. That's all I can really say publicly.
It's a very sensitive subject amongst coaches, on both sides. My main thing is, the whole state should be under the same set of rules and it's not. Because of that, that's why we have these issues.
