Cleveland County

For the Cleveland County folks that are interested. Looks like Gaffney hired their head coach this evening. Gaffney selected their offensive coordinator Donnie Littlejohn. Coach Littlejohn is a Gaffney alum. He beat out a great group of finalists in Daryl McFadden of Independence, Andy Capone of Weddington, and Nick Pelham of White Knoll. His name will be presented to the school board in their next meeting.

It was his to turn down.
'surprised' is a word that would be used by people close to the situation, especially with who all got interviews. Then add on that some of those names getting out that they interviewed, makes it challenging going back to their current schools. That's why I never would put the names out there. Hate to say it, but I give the current hire 2 years before they make another change.(my opinion)

I was told by a Gaffney fan that Sosebee may be one of the coordinators.
Yeah I heard that they really like him as far as coaching and especially from his previous tenure at Greenville I believe. The off the field concerns made the job unrealistic for him as a head coach.

Yeah I was surprised that Gaffney publicized the finalists names. Well I don’t think Gaffney officially publicized the names but someone on the interview committee spoke to the local media immediately after the decision was made.

Maybe they did that on purpose, over disagreement on the hire. Letting people know who they could have had.

He's a fantastic coach of football. His offense is unrelenting and I enjoyed watching him run it at Crest very much. No hesitation in it. No play clock issues. Just give a hand signal and kept it rolling. Exactly how it should be.

His passion for material excess is what hurts him. That's a fact. But, you make him an offensive coordinator with the talent Gaffney has......... That would be tremendous. For them..

Cleveland County is special in regards to HSF.......... That's why ALL 4 TEAMS SHOULD PLAY EACH OTHER. No matter what.!

Who is not going to play?
If Burns/Shelby stay in the conference the 2nd draft had us in, then we will have 9 conference games and 1 non-conference game. Meaning the 4 Cleveland County Schools can't play each other every year. Assuming the season is still 10 games. Which we still don't know.

I think they need to cap conference games at a certain # of games and have revolving schedules for those larger conferences to keep things like this in check. No different than a 17 team ACC. You dont play everyone every year. OOC games is where some teams are able to test their squads; those are needed.

I just looked at that conference. That is crazy. Does Lincoln Charter even have football? What sports do they have?

Edit: Looking at their website they have a good many number of sports. It looks like they played JV football last year. I assume that means they plan to add a varsity team.

If they go 8 classes then only 5 playoff games for a champ, so they should permit the 11 game schedule again for the potential lost game.

Mike Byus is going to be coaching them.
