We have the onions to play Gaffeny ,
No clue what happens tonight , could take a beating but who knows
I’m ready for some football, we will see you goats next week

The ol I have been here longer than you line
Come on Rev your better than that
We all know
cant even spell GaffNEY correctly. Ill be at the ranch tonight as well. stated earlier Ill always be a Burns fan but Im an Indian . ill give you some insight on what happens tonight. Rocky 3 when Clubber Lang asked his prediction for that night's fight.....

Just a thread to discuss happenings around the County with regards to the football programs. There will most likely be comments from the peanut gallery (SPRaiders78) but we can all agree to pray that his fingers fall off.

I can’t speak much to KM or Burns or Shelby so if any of you guys feel froggy jump on in.

Crest,

A lot of interesting things going on at Crest. First thing I notice is that unlike the XL pipeline, the pipeline to Crest is wide open and that that isn’t a joke. The excitement is palpable around the program and a lot of let’s say folks want to join in on the party. Some of these cats from across town know exactly what I speak of. But, even they don’t know it all. Big changes in operations have stoked other changes around the 7 mile radius between Grandpaw and Daddy. The flow of traffic has changed. No one can blame anyone for a directional change from that way but traffic is inbound from multiple directions.

I pondered why. There are a few reasons not just the obvious. The obvious would be a wide open offense, A fantastic coach and staff, and resources are becoming much more abundant. Those are good but by themselves are not enough. I thought about it and I have a few more reasons.

That video taping last year exposed something we refer to as Barney Fifeing. I enjoyed the show every week. It gave an inside look to things that should have been kept inside.

The schedule specifically the conference schedule for Burns and Shelby is a complete farce. Which gets exacerbated if 2A Sate Titles aren’t flowing into Shelby. Burns is on a whole other planet than the rest of us.

Let’s look at it. Kids playing at Crest will play.

Gaffney

Burns

Shelby

Ashbrook

Cramer

South Point

NG

FV

Huss

Kings Mountain

Shelby will play

Kings Mountain

South Meck (I guess) (one of those schools)

Crest

Hibriten

Cherryville

Thomas Jefferson

Highland Tech

Bessemer City

East Gaston

Burns

I’m looking at things through green glasses but it’s pretty clear to me .There is a lot of buzz about this and that about middle schools and all that. Middle schools… LOL… I remember as few years ago when Crest had a QB down there at CMS and he transferred to Shelby as soon as he hit high school age. It was understandable his dad was a Golden Lion. Well let’s forward a few years Word on the street is that the same thing is happening just in reverse directions. The exact same thing is taking place if what I hear is correct. I might just be hearing bull-crap, but what if what I heard is true? LOLOLOLOLOLOL…………….

I know nothing about KM. I don’t even care. They’ll be around at least until that casino turns that whole place into dung-pile. They need to be teaching a Heimlich maneuver class as mandatory learning over there.

Burns has another decent year left and they’ll be glad to be in that conference after that. That’s my opinion.

Anyway, just ramblings of an old man waiting on football season to come back around. Feel free to take shots I promise I do not care. I simply typed the truth. Times are changing….. Times are a changing…

Happy New Year.

Well, you’re not gonna have to worry about moderators shutting this thread down because we will. We’re going to call you out on the purpose of this thread, and now that it’s game time it will be time to move on.
We used to make fun of the Richmond County posters, and even the current Reidsville faithful posters that they would. begin multiple threads just to keep their high school at the top of the boards. You have chosen to use a brand that you have contributed to, but certainly not to the level of the Shelby Golden Lions.
Using “Cleveland County” as the Title on the 3A football thread was to know it would attract interested readers across all four boards. Shelby is far more synonymous now with Cleveland County football then Crest. So it is ironic, and your jabs at Shelby have little support as you hijack the brand “Cleveland County” football. You, Crest, have been absent for several years now from the main stage. Shelby‘s amazing dominance of the past 10 years coupled with Shelby‘s. rich history prior to that, again leaves you Crest guys grasping and jealous.

It was obvious in the winter. that the strategy here was fueled by the then current construction of the new Shelby Athletic Complex. Why else feature your Crest weight room so prominently, as you had seen renderings of what Shelby was preparing. The new Athletic Complex is the most recent example of our history of second to none emphasis. The Shelby community has always put forth such efforts. The complex is now simply the best in the state. It is no coincidence that it reflects the success of our football program. But you would not stop mocking our efforts to build such a structure, especially through private community funding.
Instead, you address silly issues, such as the recruitment of local players and the sophomoric mocking of Shelby‘s head coach.

We would much prefer to have Barney Fife as the comical, but honest and loyal officer, rather than the law breaking round Otis character, who has been exposed publicly for unsavory behavior.
It is amusing you would go chose to go there.

The recruiting topic is equally amusing, as we know who chooses to recruit and who does not have to. Shelby football is to Crest football as Jordan is to Pippin. Or Brady is to Gronk. The leader is obvious. While. we will not pull against Crest tonight, we actually share more in common with Gaffney football. We are confident those that traveled last night to your JV game observed the 18 State Championship Titles identified on their scoreboard.
Sound familiar.

In many ways, Shelby generated Crest football success. We showed you what it takes. And while you guys get consumed with today’s events in area programs, we continue to see the much larger and important history of the Shelby program. Every individual season is judged against that history. Championships are expected. So are difficult seasons without such titles. But Shelby is the most successful, sustained, winningest high school football program in North Carolina history.
That is accurate, factual, and historical.
Not opinion.

It is not a coincidence that Crest has never won a football State Championship Title while playing at the same classification as Shelby.
And before you hype 4A Titles, recall that Shelby, at 2A level, defeated Crest before during and after your 1994 and 1996 4A Championship run.

Come on, guys.
Y’all can keep this tread record.
And the raffle one, also.
But it’s not so bad to be “Cleveland County’s” second best high school football program.
Get over it.

Tell me you drink Bud Light without telling me.

I expected more out of you than that Rulz.

Gaffney's varsity is a Sophomore/Junior heavy team. Anyone worth anything is playing varsity. You beat a team full of 9th graders that won't see playing time on varsity. But hey, whatever makes you feel good.
Crest JV is full of 9th graders, so what’s your point?

Took me a while to catch up. 🔥 on here today. Glad to see the goat jumpers finally paid their internet or smart phone bill. Y’all must go crazy not having service for 7 months.
Up in the north end, life is a tad bit slower than it is down there in the big city.....

Let me guess. A seminar on how to choke in the playoffs? Just kidding. I love our brethren from across the creek. Hopefully KM will have 8 or 10 turnovers so we can keep it close
They are going to do the pile at midfield since it works out so well for previous teams that tried that stunt.

I hate to admit it but Shelby has probably the most iconic helmets and uniforms in the state. When you see those helmets you know who it is lol
Either that or Reidsville. Man that was low my bad. That comment was second to none…
