Gaffney was huge across both lines. Way bigger than Crest, but they couldn't match up with the skill guys. They were not ready for that speed.
After the way they talked to the Crest kids Thursday night, it all balances out.

Never been more proud of those chargers…well fought game and well deserved win
They were loud early. Stayed pretty quiet over there most of the game. Everytime they would start to get rowdy. Them Chargers would shut em up

Kind of sad when we as Shelby fans are “good” with getting whipped by KM. That’s seriously a fall from grace, since winning the championship in ‘21, and sweeping the county with obviously a supremely talented team.
That said, I believe Shelby will be a strong 2A team, top 5 in 2A for sure, just not a good team, period, regardless of division. I like what I saw in Tate at runningback. He’s tough and shifty, hard to tackle, despite his size. The stats may not reflect it, but he gave everything he had against a tough KM defense. He’s going to have a huge year. #3, defensively. He can play on Saturdays. Despite being a senior, I hope he can get some late attention. Izay Bridges didn’t get many opportunities. McGill played well. We have athletes!
Quarterback will be special, but he showed his youth at times with some bad turnovers, but he also had flashes of brilliance.

Stay humble, big guy. Great win! But it will be null and void, if Crest was to lose to Burns next week. I expect it to be a heckuva game, despite Crest beating a highly touted Gaffney team.
It’ll ne close next week LA. I’m just going back and reading. Plus Doc Brown deserves it.
I feel like Shelby will get better and better. I think your young QB will be very special as soon as he figures it all out a little more
Just goes to show you can’t put stock in scrimmages and jamborees. I obviously put my foot in my mouth. I didn’t mind seeing Crest win, though. I just didn’t expect it. I gave you guys no chance. I would have lost everything, if I betted any Crest guys. My bro, Crestuff, texted me, kept me updated. Crest showed out, and shocked everyone.
Despite our rivalry, I will tell you, you’d be surprised at the amount of Shelby fans who were pulling for Crest, and seem just as interested in that game as ours, constantly asking for the score of that game. Not a member of Coondog’s infamous facebook page, but it obviously rallied the county and state of NC together.

Yeah can only put so much stock in those jamboree/scrimmages. Saw Crest a few times look nasty on offense and wonder where it all went in first few weeks of season.
Yeah man. This is mostly just talk on here. Just so everyone know I pull for Cleveland County over everybody.
We need all four of our teams to be in the thick of it.
We all respect Shelby and it’s tradition. Doc Brown got one thing right. Shelby made Crest get better. Shelby made us all get better I’ll take that to the bank.
Gaffney might get us 9 out of ten times. They’re good but sometimes it works out for you plus that dang Tater Huskey is just insanely good.

This Cleveland County guy got his first win Friday night in Ram Country!!
That was about as dirty as it gets. That video got around quick from different angles. I’ll give Tater all the credit in the world. He led that team on his back and delivered.
