Any thoughts with this conference. It’s mixed 1/2A. Salsibury has been a dominant force and will return some good talent back again this year. Players to watch for Salsibury. Jymikaah Wells RB that had over 1200 yards rushing. Their QB Mike Geter and Deuce Walker WR/DB the younger brother of Jalon will return along with other contributors from previous season. I look for Salsibury to be tough again but probably not as they have been in the past. What will Thomasville have. I figure Salsibury and Thomasville will battle for 1st place.

I thought Wells graduated…but you’re right… he is back. Ole #6 is a beast!

NC Preps poll thinks highly of them…got them ranked 5th overall in 2a.

I think their first game against West Rowan will tell us a lot.

It’s salisburys to lose but I think north Rowan and East Davidson will have something to say about the second place battle. Both teams were really young and and north Rowan came on strong in the playoffs and challenged robbinsville in the playoffs. East Davidson is a wildcard because they run an offense that suits them well running a power, ball control offense. I think it’s gonna be 1. Salisbury 2. Thomasville 3. North Rowan and 4. East Davidson but I think it’s gonna be a fight every night in the conference…well except maybe for Salisbury 😬

1- Salisbury- Typically a big, fast team and they have the best QB/RB in the league coming back. Until unseated they are the team to beat.
2- THS- Has some good experience back and skill guys. TB/QB/WR are a solid group so they will score points. LB and DL will have to step up. Dogs will battle for the CCC title.
3- NR- Made a nice run late last season but have been blownout the last two years by both Salisbury and Thomasville. They are always a good looking team off the bus.
4- ED- East has a solid RB/QB that are hard to stop. They struggle to throw the ball and run a ball control offense. Can the defense step up and stop or eliminate big plays against the much more athletic top three.
5- WD- Dragons have big kids and a big roster. They have underperformed for many years and will continue to do so. Competing is their goal, not winning. They should have enough to beat Lex and SD.
6- SD- The Cats have a new coach that has them fired up down there in Denton. The CCC schedule is brutal with back to back games against Salisbury and THS. Wildcats need to learn to compete and win against lower tier teams to get some much needed wins and confidence.
7- Lex- New coach, system and new AD. The Jackets have been a mess for years and have lots to prove. Lost to SD last season and has a long losing streak. Hope the Jacket break out and win some games this year.

Not bad! Pretty much what I think.

Only real change may be 6 and 7. If the new HC can get Lexington's line going even halfway decently I think they will beat South. South whipped them on the line badly last year and that determined the game. Lexington's speed won't be no match for the Wildcats. But South won and has the momentum now so we will see.

It's hard to believe we are getting ready for another season of high school football. I'm looking forward to watching football again on Friday nights. Hopefully my Golden Eagles will do well again this year. The QB/RB tandem we have has been fun to watch if you like service academy football. I just wish we were able to throw the ball a little bit more to keep opposing defenses a little more honest. Oh well, like the old saying goes, if something isn't broke don't fix it. Good luck to all the teams in the CCC this year.

“But South won and has the momentum now so we will see.”

That may be the only time that that particular phrase has been uttered, concerning South Davidson.

Unfortunately, the season is just barely underway, and the Wildcats have less than 20 kids left. I hope some will decide to return. South has a great coach, who is just going to get better. The new principal is a football guy too. If it doesn’t work now, it ain’t ever going to work.

Yes, he had surgery a few weeks ago. Tough break for him.
He had been moved from qb to running back for this season. The jv quarterback had secured the starting job. The hope is to have him back for any playoff games, if they make it that far. Tough loss though. He’s a special athlete.

Cheerduck said something about a Thomasville running back who stood out in the East-West game, wondered who it was.

He was the MVP and is a beast. Big, strong, fast and physical. You probably remember Gabe Brockett that you watched against those EL folks. 3500 yards rushing that year. Reminds me a little of Gabe, except stockier.

Salsibury will take on West Rowan 1st game 8/19 of the season. I’m thinking West Rowan could be favors for the conference. We will see the what strength Salsibury has when they play. Could be a good game.
