CCC week 12

I'd like to see ED upset OG but I'm pretty sure it won't happen...45-0 OG in a nail biter:p

TVILLEDAWG2370, I am all for an upset myself but I don't see it happening tonight. Oak Grove's RB (Shewcow) will have a huge night. Oak Grove 35 - East Davidson 7.

BlackKnightNut, I have to say that I am real excited about next year. Our JV team has played exceptionally well this year. I am really looking forward to see play at the QB position next year. They said that kid is an athlete. I know I have been hard on my Golden Eagles this year but those kids gave it their best. That is all you can ask for out of any player. I know from a coaching stand point, Coach Hanner has had a lot to deal with this year. I have confidence that he will be able to turn it around. He has done i it before and he will do it again. After tonight, we will wipe the slate clean, hold our heads high and get ready for next season.

I’m pro-East Davidson and always will be. (Even when I’m picking on dads DJing in the parking lot for pregame)

I hope that the success that their JV has this year will translate into some success going forward. I’m a little worried that it might not translate as much as we’d hope. I haven’t seen them play this year, but I was under the impression that several of their better JV players could have probably played up on varsity this year, but didn’t since the season hit the crapper so early on.

If that is the case, then there may be a ceiling to their future success. But, hopefully I heard wrong and they’ll be back in the 6-7 wins a year area very very soon.

I hear that they probably are in... But it doesn’t feel like a 100% chance to me. I know this though, there will be quite a few teams that are WAY less talented than North Davidson in the playoffs. Tough year for ND.
This conference was tight this year at the top. Not many scores separating the top 5 teams. Quite a few games could have easily gone the other way.

I think it will be 2 years at least before East has any success on varsity. They don't have much at all coming back from the Junior class in the way of returning staters so the team will be really young next year. And the JV did have a few kids that could have helped on varsity this year but I believe Coach Hanner kept them down on JV to keep them all playing together and winning together. QB on JV is a real good runner but is not very good at throwing the ball. They need to have a QB coach work with him on his throwing.
I think the main problem with East is the coaching. Hanner is terrible with the offensive game plan and play calling, no creativity at all and he does nothing with the offense that puts pressure on the opposing team and makes them defend the whole field. Same 6 plays every game isn't hard for the other team to prepare for. There are no in-game adjustments and the practices are too easy and the players aren't taught much in the way of fundamentals and the coaches don't do much to motivate the players so that's why when they start losing they hang their heads. That is a direct reflection of the coach. My personal opinion is should be a coaching change or at the very least they hire a new offensive coach or coordinator.

My personal opinion is Hanner should be fired and a new coaching staff be brought in but it won't happen because they have the good ole boy system going there, they are gonna keep one of their home boys in as coach instead of bringing in a real coach that wants to win games.
Vance Hanner didn’t turn into a bad coach in two years. His family has been through a lot this year.
But regardless, if that clique down at East doesn’t want him, I’d love to see him as an assistant at Thomasville. He’s a class act.

Congrats to OG on winning the conference. The top five will likely be the same the next few years, maybe top 6 with CD improving.

Coach Hanner has had a lot of things going on this season both on the field and off dealing with family issues. I won't elaborate on the family issue because God knows the need and he has his hand on them. I really like Coach Hanner and when you are having to deal with a lot of issues at one time, believe it or not, it can affect you in many ways including coaching. I have confidence that Coach Hanner will turn the program around again. It may take a year or two but with the talent we have coming up through our JV program we should be good on varsity.
