ND vs Ledford: easily the biggest game of the week. I went against the Knights last week so I'll do it again lol! Ledford by 50, Lackey runs for 500 yards and Ledford D shuts out North's terrible O. ;)

Tville vs Lexington: Dogs by as much as they want.

CD vs WD: tough call. Both teams seem pretty even to me. Central in a close one.

Salisbury vs SR: Hornets by whatever they want.

OG vs ED: OG by whatever they want.

Only two interesting games this week...

This Lexington team may very well be the worst Lexington team of all time due to many factors.

Thomasville/Lexington is a rivalry game,I'm a bit worried Lexington could rise up in this one,I haven't seen Lexington play this year but by the scores they seem to be terrible, the dogs better jump on them early and offend and keep the hammer down and get outa there injury free

CD-WD is a very evenly matched game...I'll take CD

ND-Ledford...should be a good one with a packed house and great atmosphere for football on a Friday night...I think this is a very close game to call, winner by 5 points or less

All other CCC games...yawn

Hard to believe the regular season is coming to an end already...

Thomasville has gotten better week by week this year. Lexington has only seemed to get worse, not even Cunningham getting eligible improved them because of all the players leaving and/or quitting this year.

Honestly I feel for them. Back in 2006 when ND had a coaching change there were a few things that led to getting a 3-8 final record, the worst since the mid 90s.

We had assistant coaches who were jealous they didn't get the job and seemed to do everything they could to sabotage the season (I know, why would anyone do that? It happened, believe me),we had transfers, we were learning brand new offensive and defensive systems that we didn't get down until late in the year against 4A competition when we were the second smallest school in the CPC, we lost four games by ten points or less, and most importantly we had terrible relationships between the seniors who felt they should be playing while the juniors got playing time they didn't deserve "for the future."

There must have been at least 10-15 people who quit that year just out of sheer frustration. So I definitely understand how the Lexington kids feel about having such a bad year. Their program has not been helped by multiple tranfers going to other schools like ND and OG. Those are the ones I know about, could be more i don't know.

This is a rivalry but Tville should win by at least 5 TDs, maybe more. Lexington is just simply that bad this year. I think South Davidson would give them a good game at this point, even though they beat North Rowan early. NR would definitely best them now.

Teams go thru hard times and it appears the jackets are in that cycle. They still have enough talent to beat the lower tier CCC teams. Three kids leaving should not disable that team. The HC inherited what he has, but if he is good he will make it work and soon. Thomasville was very serious about turning their program around so they went out and got a guy that was a proven winner and look what is happening.

2019 NCHSAA ADMS

Oak Grove 992
ND 991 (wow, just one student difference? Dang)
South Rowan 942
CD 933
Ledford 920
ED 864
Salisbury 858
Lexington 832
WD 772
Thomasville 649

Ehh that 0-11 team they had in 1998 was pretty awful.. 2019's defense is a TD worse but their offense was much worse that year. It was a much similar deal, Avery Cutshaw came in and the coach before him left but I'd say the internal situation is far worse now than then.

Avery lasted 2 years and went 3-8 the next before he left, he did beat Mount Airy so that was his one accomplishment. Holman will be lucky to have that if he manages to make it thru this year.

West and Central's got serious potential to be a classic if you love old school smashmouth ball.. they are both a lot alike and are very hot in terms of momentum. Central has more to lose here: a win gets them a winning season for the first time in 7 years and MAYBE a playoff spot.. for them to go from being where they were to that is a triumph (hope Trivett gets coach of the year honestly.)

West meanwhile has had a quiet but much improved year, just not as sexy of a story as Central. They've won 4 and took Salisbury to the wire, just not much luck. If they were 1A in the YVC I see them having 7-8 wins, just their bad spot due to ADM's.

On paper I'd give Central the edge due to their momentum and skill players but I think West will be hyped enough to make it a barn burner.. they may have lady luck on their side. They need a momentum win to keep the program up, this may be it.

Lexington's goal should be a noble loss.. they need to find some momentum to rally behind improving things, if it turns into a clown show it's gonna be even more rougher. Thomasville needs to get to 42 and rest the kids for next week. Same for Salisbury and OG.

ND and Ledford at 50 and 51, both may be safe no matter the result but both want to win bad.

Central at 73. Doubt they get much of a jump even if they win. Could be wrong...

Ledford- They want have a answer for Lackey. Ledford Defense could struggle with the little speed ND does have. Close one. Please, someone get DCMayor3 back on here! Guy post at 4:30 am on a Saturday night, but I have no life.

OG- They will look like world beaters again. Seems they need some offensive work. Perfect week to try out some wrinkles.

Thomasville- Dont think this we be a blow out, just because how big of a rivalry it is. Probably one of the biggest in the state. Think I’ll check this one out.

WD- going with the dragons on this one. Gut feeling!

Salisbury- Will get Ugly

LOL.. I wouldn't waste your money to get in the gate, believe me this one will be ugly in Thomasville's favor. I've seen Lexington play and they are pretty bad. I would be surprised if the Jackets score in this one.

I want to know how Lexington and Thomasville will be televised on Friday night.

I want to know how Lexington and Thomasville will be televised on Friday night.

They planned it well in advance... I think it was set even before the season started.

doesn’t look like much of a TV draw for sure! Going would be $6 wasted. Well, unless you’re a Thomasville fan... They’ll have a fun night!

Daddy’s baaacckkk!!! Says the guy who stalked out every post I made and either liked it or replied to it... I could really hurt your feeling right now about why I posted at 4:30 in the morning but this isn’t the place. { insert your mom joke} Another time maybe.

Let’s talk the obvious. NO WAY with those ADM numbers South Rowan should be that bad... can someone help me understand where all those hard nose athletes went and if they went, why did they leave?

Best team West has had since probably the Bush days. And I mean Josh Bush not President Bush. Senior heavy kids and if I was a betting man, one of their coach’s last. I think his Son is a senior on the team.

Central is much improved. Period. Which is good to see after the past few years they have had. Their reputation is catching up with them quickly though. (And it’s not a positive one if that’s what you are thinking)

PS. The fact that you called a close game between Tville and Lexington. I think you have lost credibility with even your few supporters left on here.. SMH. But please attend the game. Lexington has a 19 year old play caller and a coach who has been basically run out of the past 2 schools he’s been at. But the coach isn’t solely to blame. The AD fires a coach still under contract to “change the program” yet you go hire a guy who just went 0-11 at his current spot! Boy I’m sure that really rallied the legions of fans!

Clearly Jus Uh Fan you are a semi old timer... because reality is, neither team knows much about the rivalry. Because the last time it was an actual rivalry the current players were probably in diapers.

Polar opposites on the 101 of how to turn a struggling inner city program around.

Not saying the Bulldogs are a guaranteed win, by any means. But Thomasville is 23-2 in the last two decades plus. In that sense, it ceased to be a rivalry long ago. East Davidson has done better.
But because many of the players know each other, and play other sports against each other, with the Cunningham factor, it’s still a big game for these kids.

OCdavis31 do you see Thomasville going 1a after the next round of realignments? What do the middle schools numbers look like. If they slide back to 1a. They could be geared to have great success again.

Does anyone know what the conference procedure is for three way ties? Based upon the games this week, it appears that there will be a three way tie for second. I heard yesterday that if North, Salisbury and Thomasville tied for second that Thomasville would get the second place nod because of their victory over Oak Grove. If that was the case, then North would hold the tiebreaker over Salisbury for third. The other school of thought is that the three way tie would be settled via a draw for these three teams.

If Ledford beats North and you have a three way tie for second, I would think that Salisbury would get the second place nod due to their victories over Ledford and Thomasville and then Ledford would get third due to their victory over Thomasville.

Regardless of how the tiebreakers play out, it appears that the CCC will get 5 playoff teams for 2019.

I haven’t looked at the middle school numbers, but will ask that question. dogs86mvp may know.
But the trend has been downward for some time. There are a couple predatory charter schools nearby that may continue to have an effect. I guess it really depends mostly on external factors....where the line is drawn between 1A and 2A. We’ll probably be close.
There are advantages competition wise for sports other than football. But travel, lack of natural rivalries and the effect on gate receipts would be a negative.
Personally, I hope we stay 2A with largely the same conference. Even though it’s difficult competitively, I think it makes for a better fan experience and hopefully for the athletes as well.

I don’t have a clue but T-Ville getting the tie breaker over Salisbury due to a common opponent and head to head being thrown out is asinine.

Actually, I agree with you. But Thomasville came out on the short end of that same situation with Lexington a few years ago.

From the NCHSAA (not sure how this works with the variables still to be determined, i.e., head-to-heads remaining):

42. TIEBREAKING PROCEDURE: all parts of this procedure are mandatory. The steps should be followed in the order as they appear in the procedure. (A) DETERMINING CONFERENCE STANDINGS These rules apply for determining the final regular season standings in any sport in which a conference awards its conference championship on the basis of regular season competition. (1) The conference standings shall be determined on the basis of the percentage of conference games won by each team at the end of the regular season, based on conference regulations and subject to the tiebreaking procedure which follows. The team finishing in first place shall be recognized as the conference champion; if a tie exists for first place, then conference co-champions, tri-champions, etc., shall be declared. (2) If two or more teams have equal conference percentages at the end of the season, the team that has the edge in head-to-head competition will get the higher place in the standings. All conference games played against each other would count in the head-to-head competition. Examples: the intent is to break the tie by using the tied teams. If there is a four-way tie for first and Team A and Team B are 2-1 while Team C and Team D are 1-2, in games among the four of them. A and B would be tied for first by virtue of their 2-1, with C and D tied for third. Then look at head-to-head between the two (A and B) to break that tie, and then between the other two (C and D) to break that remaining tie. Teams A, B and C are tied for fourth in the conference standings with identical records. In games among the three, A was 3-1, B was 2-2 and C was 1-3. The tie is broken; A is fourth, B is fifth and C sixth. Any time throughout the whole procedure that a multiple tie is reduced to two teams, no matter what criteria is being used, use head-to-head competition between those remaining if possible.

What that did not address is a three way tie in which each team is 1-1 against the other two teams that they are tied with. When North was in the CPC, that meant that a draw would take place between those three teams. What is unknown is how the CCC would look at this.

Gotcha - then I’m not sure of CCC Protocols but I would think it would be a draw

I just went to the NCHSAA website and read the full section that you provided. Based upon my interpretation, here are the scenarios that are in place for Friday for the second place position. I assume that there will be no tie for first.

If North Davidson wins, there will be a three way tie with North, Salisbury and Thomasville. They all went 1-1 against each other. The next step would be to look at the results against the first place team. Thomasville would get the second place seeding (automatic berth) based on their win over Oak Grove. North would get the third place seeding (automatic berth) based on their win over Salisbury and Salisbury would be considered fourth and would make the field as an at-large entry.

If Ledford wins, there will be a three way tie with Ledford, Salisbury and Thomasville. Since Salisbury defeated both Ledford and Thomasville, they would get the second place seeding (automatic berth). Ledford would get the third place seeding (automatic berth) based on their win over Thomasville and Thomasville would be considered fourth and would make the field as an at-large entry.

Unless their is a major upset of Oak Grove, Salisbury or Thomasville on Friday, this is the way that the scenarios would play out. In the unlikely event that Oak Grove lost on Friday and created a four way tie for first, here are the tiebreaker scenarios as I understand the NCHSAA procedure.

North Davidson wins - North, Oak Grove, Salisbury and Thomasville tie for first. Oak Grove and Thomasville would be tied with 2-1 records among this group and Thomasville would get the top seed from the conference based upon their victory over Oak Grove. Oak Grove would be second and North would be third.

Ledford wins - Ledford, Oak Grove, Salisbury and Thomasville tie for first. Oak Grove and Salisbury would be tied with 2-1 records amount this group and Oak Grove would get the top seed based upon their victory over Oak Grove. Salisbury would be second and Ledford would be third.

I don't see the four way tie scenario happening, but from a seeding preference in the playoffs, Thomasville will want North to win while Salisbury would rather have a Ledford victory.

If I misinterpreted the procedure, I apologize.

It’s fun to think about all these scenarios.

What in the world are we all going to do in a month or so when this is over!? LOL

I guess we’ll have to find something to occupy our thoughts until July 2020.

Watch rugby haha. Closest to football you can get unless another Spring League pops up like the Alliance. Unlikely though.

Going with Central Davidson. Went to school and played little league together their head coach. Can't pull against a Bulldog.

Congrats to the Oak Grove JV team for going undefeated and winning the conference!

Also congrats go to East Davidson for going 7-3! Looking like improvement is on it's way... What say you @EDEagle66 ?

BlackKnightNut, I have to say that I am real excited about next year. Our JV team has played exceptionally well this year. I am really looking forward to see play at the QB position next year. They said that kid is an athlete. I know I have been hard on my Golden Eagles this year but those kids gave it their best. That is all you can ask for out of any player. I know from a coaching stand point, Coach Hanner has had a lot to deal with this year. I have confidence that he will be able to turn it around. He has done i it before and he will do it again. After tonight, we will wipe the slate clean, hold our heads high and get ready for next season.

But wait till after 4th Quarter Starts to buy my hot dog. That’s when they usually go half off. I would join you, but watching this one from my house.

I noticed something. I only really hate on ND. Majority of our county do. You hate on every school but ND. You are major butt hurt.

Go Dawgs!!!

As to the question above about south Rowan and the loss of folks. Look no further than Carson High. Geographically it is in China grove closer to Rockwell (Rockwell is East Rowan territory) but pulled mainly from south Rowan kids. Many reasons will be given as to the creation and location of the school but it boils down to giving the more rural white middle class a shiny new school about 10-15 years ago. Pair that with the decline of jobs in southern Rowan (now on the upswing mightily) and you have the drop in numbers. There are a bunch of developments coming to the area of southern Rowan county but most fall in the Carson district under current district maps. I believe those will be adjusted but RSS board is too heavily influenced by people showing up to board meetings crying so not much will happen quickly or logically.
