OG vs Ledford: this one will decide if there is an outright conference champion or potential for a tie. OG is the better overall team in my opinion and has the better coach. I like them by a couple of scores but it could come down to the last minute and upsets do happen. Ledford will be desperate to stay in the conference race.

ND vs CD: Centrals offense got back on track last week against East. Their defense also gave up a lot of points to a less than stellar ED offense. CD will score points against the North D but probably can't outscore the Knights. They will have to play keep away ball to win. ND takes this one.

Tville vs WD: Thomasville is on the upswing and playing with swagger now. Their speed will give WD fits and I see them winning convincingly.

Lexington vs SR: Lexington gets another chance at a win this week. South defense is atrocious but so is Lex D. Might come down to the wire. I'm flipping a coin and taking the Raiders.

ED vs Salisbury: nothing to see here. East gets buried, pun intended.

I also agree with all of these picks. I’m still scratching my head at Lexington. That ship is sinking fast, as yet another Jacket starter has headed for the hills. It’s going to get worse before it gets better, and there isn’t too much further down that they can go.

Well, they can take comfort that they aren't the worst Lexington team ever, though they are cutting it close. Lexington was 1-10 (beat WD) in 2013, 0-11 in 1998, and 1-9 in 1961 (against a 4A schedule)

If they lose to South Rowan, they are doggone close to being the worst. How in the world did this team beat North Rowan?

North Rowan is the top team in an absolutely horrendous 1A Yadkin Valley Conference. They have literally beaten nobody but cupcakes this year, got beat by the good teams they played, plus Lexington. I'm shocked they only lost 9-7 to Salisbury but that is a rivalry and also the first game of the year when teams are more likely to make mistakes.

The YVC has always been weak; Tville and Albemarle along with West Montgomery made it look much better in their heyday. This is why South Davidson has absolutely no excuses for their history being as bad as it is.

OG wins because Ledford cannot throw the football enough to scare a solid defense. 50 was not dressed Friday either so he leaves a huge hole in the DL.

Thomasville runs past West, better watch out for Dogs now that weather has changed. I would like to see them play Ledford and Salisbury again in cooler weather where cramps don’t slow them down.

Salisbury buries East. Speed kills and they will run all over the Eagles.

ND beats CD, but it will be a good game.

SR and Lexington are bad. I give the edge to Lexington if they can block a little for Cunningham. If they lose to SR then it may be a one year and done for the new coach.

Can never recall players transferring during the season like this. Legit as it may be, it's just odd.

I think his parents were planning on moving anyway. It just happened to be this time of year to find what they wanted. As far as the others who left their schools before or during the season, I can’t say why. But you’re right. I don’t recall this many in one season.

Ledford- On paper everything points towards OG. My gut is telling me Ledford. #2 will needs to have a big night.

Central- Central Offense will give ND heck.

Thomasville- Speed Kills

Salisbury- In a close one.

SR- They have to be better than Lexington.

I'd like to see a rematch against Ledford or Salisbury myself. The team seems to be gelling better the last few weeks.

Just heard the East-Salisbury game has been moved to Thursday night. JV game is Wednesday. Anybody heard of any other games that have been moved up?

Just following up, anybody hear of any other CCC games being moved because of weather? ED/Salisbury already moved to tomorrow night. JV game is tonight.

I don’t want to jinx anything, but after a glance at the forecast I just saw, there doesn’t appear to be a need to move games anymore.

Highschool OT continues to put OG as 2A in their playoff projections. I guess they didn't get the memo or weren't bothered enough to care lol. So their bracket projections are all messed up.

I emailed the guy directly to let him know of their mistake.

I understand that he probably can’t just take my word for it, and that last year’s ADM is the basis for the placement of teams... But it is such a glaring error, and I know that it is messing up the brackets all around. Kind of takes the fun out of it, because its messing with everything... who goes up and down, where the east/west line is drawn... etc. etc.

Salisbury-61 East Davidson -0 final

Yikes

East Davidson has ZERO yards on 26 carries.

They netted 6 yards in the second half. It also appears that Salisbury was more than willing to pump the brakes in this game by not throwing the ball a single time in the second half.

Yikes, indeed.

I knew you said you had contacted them. I just feel like if you're going to do projections, use all available info to make it as accurate as possible. I guess that's asking too much...

I thought coach Hines was doing a good job at East. What has happened in the last two or three years? Is it injuries, the competition, or just a lack of skill players?

Coach Hines is no longer there! He did a great job in the 1 year he was allowed to stay. He is now at Southern Alamance where is son is the QB.

My thought is that it is some of everything you mentioned. Plus the year that coach hanner left for west Montgomery and this left East without a coach for most of the spring and summer before that season put them further behind than they had ever anticipated. I’m also not convinced that all the assistants at East are there willingly or if they are just fulfilling an expectation.

From all accounts Salisbury did everything to pump the breaks as the last scores were just kids getting a chance to play. The last two weeks have been good for SHS to correct some recurring issues with the offense and build some confidence on that side of the ball. The defense is the defense. Big game coming up with ND.

Politics.

I can agree with that word 100%. It is absolutely embarrassing to get 60+ points dropped on you two weeks in a row. Like I stated earlier, I feel really bad for the players at East because I know they are working hard. I have not seen the coaching staff make any adjustments on offense/defense this entire season. The offense has been in the same spread formation with the same five plays being called week in and week out. They are playing in a 3-4 defense when they clearly don't have the personnel/speed to do so. The defense should be playing in a 4-3 or 5-3 set. Hopefully next season will be better with the JV team moving up to varsity.

I was actually referring to when Coach Hines was there for one year. But it doesn't surprise me if it is still going on.

I felt like Coach Hines did a good job the one year he was there going 6-5. The offense was fun to watch. I think that was the first year I can remember a QB from East passing for 1,000 yards and a RB rushing for 1,000 yards in the same season. I have heard from various sources (all with the same info) about why Coach Hines left but it would be better for me to keep quiet on that subject.
