Carver HS Fallout

It is poor. First Walmart I've ever seen close because it lost money. There was so much theft, manager said that the employees were just carrying it out the back door as quick as it came in. There is literally nothing to make people want to live there other than family. Sad situation because there are many good folks there
Oh my gosh, that Wal-mart! I stopped in there about ten? years ago. It was like stepping into a third world country. It was crazy. Gangs of unsupervised young children were just having a ball, pulling stuff from shelves, out of packages, stuff all over the floor. Sadly, the “adults” weren’t much better. I watched some guy eat some stuff from a package off the shelf & discard it in the next aisle & then as I was waiting to check out, I saw a family sneak merchandise by the cashier by hiding things in a cart full of bulky items. I was thinking “there is no way that this place can stay in business!” It was just insane. I didn’t know it had shut down, but it’s no surprise at all.

I was at a wrestling match a little over 20 years ago to do some scouting. Carver’s opponent arrived, weighed in, and then had to help put the mat out because Carver didn’t have enough kids in the team to do it. I think they were 3A at that time.

Any updates on this? I had read the part 1 article on the fallout from the Winston Salem Chronicle but I never saw part 2 get published and part 1 came out around Thanksgiving.

If I had to guess they must have pissed Carver and Forsyth Co enough that they went the legal route and they had to not upload it. It was really spicy and bold to even put up to begin with.

Absolutely. I give credit to the coach for going on record for it and the reporter being bold enough to publicize the article. If most of what the coach said is true then I am super happy it got brought to light for the public to see.

Leon Moore a Carver graduate will be named the next football coach at Carver HS. Coach was recently hired by Coach Griffin last summer and served as the D-line coach this past season. Before that Coach Moore was the DC at Walkertown HS under Coach Rodney McCoy. As you can imagine not a lot of strong candidates put in for this job with the cloud over current administration. Carver administration wanted a yes man who they can control leading Carver. We will have to stay tuned and see what happens.

I hope there are enough alumni to be of some assistance. The last game I went to that involved Carver was an away game for them. Carver brought about 40 fans and marching band arrived about 30 minutes after kickoff.

If it's the guy I remember it being from when we played Walkertown he definitely will be a yes man. He followed McKoy like crazy over everything. I'm willing to bet they probably planned this out a year or two ago. They were trying to get get Griffin rilled up so they could coup him out with no issues, and when that didn't happen they just upped and fired him. It all makes sense now.

They've lusted to have McKoy back for years; I'll never forget when we played them in 2019 their coaches up in their booth when they weren't badmouthing Scales the HC they had they they were pouting that McKoy wasn't their head coach. "We need to go to Walkertown and coach, Rodney wouldn't put up with this BS." This was during a ball game when instead of coaching their kids to play better they whined and complained over petty stuff. That wasn't even the craziest thing they did that night. Just how much of a joke their coaching staff was back then.

They probably was wanting Rodney straight up to apply but he's so toxic and has such a badname after what he's done at both his schools they couldn't hire him, so they got one of his cronies instead. If this dude coaches like he coordinated then it will be a mess. Only reason why they won games at Walkertown was by using the policy Forsyth has to fill in the lack of talent they had elsewise. It wasn't due to their coaching by any stretch, in that spring 21 season they had 90 some kids out when everyone else in the WPAC were lucky to have a varsity squad. Hard not to lose in those cases.

Just an odd deal all around.
