Another huge game coming up this next week with Butler vs Catholic. I’m looking for it to be a good one. Any thoughts on this game.

Butler has been out of the spotlight lately, but they showed against Weddington a few weeks back they are leaps and bounds better than what they were early in the season.

Pretty obvious key is if they can hold up against the Catholic run game for four quarters. These teams have had some classics the last couple of years, this could definitely be another one.

Don’t want to see Butter in the playoffs

Butler is the most dangerous 4 loss team in the state. Period. Despite that, they are undefeated in the conference. They control their own destiny with Catholic on Friday and Independence next week. As with the past three years, the conference and playoff seeding comes down to these three teams. Catholic owns a W against Independence in this critical round robin and locks in the top seed with a win against Bulter. This game is a matchup of styles and a pick'em. It is cliche but it will come down to who executes their game the best and turnovers. Expect game to take a toll on fans with high blood pressure as with previous encounters.

Although out of the spotlight Butler has gotten hit with the injury bug the few weeks with the starter and backup QB getting hurt along with several on the defense. I know some guys were out against Rocky River to be ready for Catholic.

It’s a game Butler needs and I thought even when healthy this would be a tough game for them because Butler isn’t particularly great at stopping the run. Butler fielded one of it’s best defenses last year and Catholic gave them fits. I would probably lean Catholic right now.

CC is expected to perform well in this game, and fans can feel assured about the outcome. CC will unleash and play beyond expectations!

Does butler need this win to get to the playoffs? Can they afford to lose 1 more game between Indy and Catholic?

I like the scheme and personnel changes butler has made on defense. They seemed to move some kids around. They did have 5-6 starters out vs rocky river and are down to their 3rd string JV QB playing with Lawrence and the back up missing multiple weeks. JV qb doesn’t have the same arm strength as the other 2 so it limits the offense.

Speaking of Rocky River…they have a sophomore QB who can be real good! I liked what I saw regardless of score.

Ramir Watson is the QB at Rocky River. Coach McClamrock does a great job with QBs.

They need to get one of these games, preferably Catholic to at least share conference if they lose to Independence. Not sure who will be ready for Friday because of the injuries. I haven’t seen this many injuries from a Butler team maybe since 04.

Ouch. If they need to win one of these games, idk the probability of that with a 3rd string JV qb who is super limited. They also have 4-5 starters on defense that are banged up and have missed time…on top of not being the best run defense. Catholic may finally break through and beat butler, I think they are winless in school history.

I felt that Lawrence was a sitting target in the offense. That scheme is optimal when you have dual threat QB. Since there isn’t the multiple formations and shifts that Butler traditionally uses, it made the tendencies easy to read. My understanding is the backup QB who plays another position got hurt in practice. The coach probably should’ve limited the back up just in case Lawerence is hurt.

If the coach can get a win, a bye will come next then Independence. Butler would go into that game and the playoffs with no pressure.

IF THEY CAN GET A WIN, is a big “if”. Catholic is going to line up and run it 100x and butler hasn’t stopped the run this season against good opponents. They are rotating a couple freshman in the front 7 at the moment.

If the JV qb has to play, I expect a lot of wildcat out of butler. Not a lot of kids want to tackle #5 from butler, he is a load to bring down.

Freshmen?? What in the world is going on in Matthews?

As a CC alum I'll throw it old school on
yall

ON the hill of ol park road, stands a school so strong, where the men of tomorrow learn to sing this song. For its RAH rah for Catholic Cougars, Rah Rah for Catholic Cougars Rah Rah for Catholic Cougars… RAhRahRah I am courage born and I am am Cougar bred and when I die I am cougar dead its rah rah for catholic cougars rah rah for Catholic cougars RAH Rah Rah!!!

Really wish we could see this butler team healthy but it doesn’t seem like we will get that chance. The JV 3rd string QB just doesn’t have what it takes right now and is limiting the offense. Got you thinking, they also need a QB next season.

Any chance Catholic is the the same conference next season? Really hope Catholic can stay with butler and Indy, it’s been fun to watch.

lol congrats to Catholic on finally beating butler 1st time in school history, long time coming.
How will Catholic's coaching adapt to the increased competition in 6A? Will they be able to maintain their winning momentum and harness their talent effectively against tougher opponents?

It’s cool to see CC finally secure a victory over Butler; it has really been a milestone. This win could serve as a significant confidence boost for the team, especially as they gear up for the challenges ahead in 6A. The transition to a higher classification often brings tougher competition, but it also elevates the level of play, which can be beneficial for the athletes' development.

The depth of talent CC has on their roster is impressive. Just looking at their recent performances, it's clear that they have a strong mix of experience and athleticism that sets them apart. For instance, their standout players have consistently put up impressive stats, and their coaching staff has done a great job of maximizing their potential.

It’ll be exciting to see how they navigate this 6A transition!

6A will be a lower classification actually.

6A will be a downgrade for CC. They will go back to challenging for 4 A ships. IMHO they should play in the largest state division as a private school with no boundaries.
