I hear the turn out to offseason workouts was abysmal compared to the Hales years. The fact they can actually be worse next season is alarmingNo identity or culture with the program. A lot of kids have left or leaving. Butler has never in the history been a program that more kids leaving than coming to the program.
Surprised at hearing this. They have great coaches; but there could be a culture clash. The current Butler coaches are great for Chambers, MC, West Charlotte type schools. Some coaches just fit better at some places than others. Butler is losing some talent. Losing the DE to MC is huge. He's already getting D1 P5 looks. Damorion Thomas-Wright is an absolute monster. Lexington hated losing him. He will be one of Butlers best players next year.No identity or culture with the program. A lot of kids have left or leaving. I think if you’re a great coach you can bridge the gap in regard to cultures for the most part. Tom Knotts can fit anywhere. I don’t think Ferebee and the staff are great coaches. I think he is good not great. Unless something changes Butler will field probably its worst team since the late 90s from a talent perspective. We will find out good he is.Surprised at hearing this. Don't think folks factored in how tough it would be getting talent into Butler. And with Ferebee being away a few years they didn't get a big transfer in boost that one might expect. With the HS portal working overtime there's a chance Butler gets some guys in.

I've been around Creek since 2009, staff definitely would not be a good fit at Creek. The entire entourage of video's weekly, is hard to sustain. Not something the Creek would be accustomed to doing. 4 State Championships appearances and Palmieri never made one post on social media. Tinsley is more conservative and not a social media guy. More of a business as usual.Surprised at hearing this. They have great coaches; but there could be a culture clash. The current Butler coaches are great for Chambers, MC, West Charlotte type schools. Palmieri and staff were great. This Butler group showed they could win with someone else's loaded roster, but they haven't done anything since.I've been around Creek since 2009, staff definitely would not be a good fit at Creek. AB built the Chambers program. Taking over a program that culturally, had similar coaching styles vs a program like Butler that is totally opposite, is the problem they're having now.Palmieri and staff were great. Agree with Creek and a conservative approach. Was thinking more on field and coaching ability vs. off field. Off field you are 100% correct. MC is business oriented. Now that I think of it. WC is more business oriented with some splash. Chambers during their heyday was all splash. Dont think people realize just how talented Chambers was during their run.AB built the Chambers program. How would you compare the coaching styles?AB built the Chambers program. Taking over a program that culturally, had similar coaching styles vs a program like Butler that is totally opposite, is the problem they're having now.
The previous staff at Butler (Coach Hales) operated with a higher level of organization, running their program with a clear chain of command where everyone understood their roles and responsibilities. In contrast, the new staff appears to lack that structured approach, often stepping in and coaching without a defined system, giving the impression that they are improvising rather than following a cohesive plan. How would you compare the coaching styles?
Think the new staff is very cohesive in their approach. Think they were shocked at the poor talent level Butler has relative to other top schools. Hales ran a very detailed contrarian offense that focused on the system rather than the stars. Once that system is gone and the talent has to be talent Butler struggled. The previous staff at Butler (Coach Hales) operated with a higher level of organization, running their program with a clear chain of command where everyone understood their roles and responsibilities. I don’t think you helped Ferebee with this post. If the narrative is he was only successful at Chambers due to the unreal talent he inherited, blaming Butler’s lack of talent for Butler’s bad season strengthens that narrative.Think the new staff is very cohesive in their approach. The real issue was Butlers defense. It was terrible. Coach Brand was an expert in playing defense with his offense when needed. He doesn't get the respect he deserves. Once he wins the big one the flood gates will open. Is Ferebee John Gruden?
Butler had talent all over the field, per previous staff. This is the 1st I'm hearing lack of talent on the field. They were actually in a lot of games, they couldn't finish. That's a tough sale, Butler went from 12-2 to 4-7 because of lack of talent.Think the new staff is very cohesive in their approach. You could look at Butler and see they were not talented as prior years. Not saying they weren't talented but compared to other top teams they were not. Chambers 16 to 23 rosters may have been the best in Meck County since WC 90s, Indy/Butler 2000s, and MC 2010s Those 4 eras of teams are the most talented the city has seen during their period. Butler on defense was small and slow. JMHO. In every game where the opponent had a pulse they gave up 28-35 points. Now look at 22-23 seasons. The Butler defense was elite.Butler had talent all over the field, per previous staff. This is the 1st I'm hearing lack of talent on the field. Butler will be ok. Just saying the Chambers level talent/system was at a very high level vs. Butler who is descending IMHO.I don’t think you helped Ferebee with this post. Butler does run a different offense but keep in mind Hales adjusts to his personnel. When he had ARW, they ran a spread offense using very little of the wing t. He ran a similar style offense a few years ago when we got the MC transfer QB. It was a spread ball control style offense. Hales last season, Butler was a heavy running team even though they had a really good quarterback. It worked for them which helped the defense. Ferebee takes over and takes a more passing approach and Butler had banged up quarterbacks all year.
In other words if I grant you that Butler’s talent was “down” (which I don’t believe) wouldn’t it be the job of the coach to adjust for personnel? Some coaches can others will run their system no matter what.

Chambers lost to the 4A state Champs in 17, and then nearly won it all in 18. NO matter though 2025 will be a great year for Butler if guys stay.
Crazy right now. It was a point where staying in college 4 years was normal, now players play at 2-4 colleges. Now its unheard of a student staying at the same HS 4 years. Some schools are literally turning kids away to avoid the headache. The JV team finished with a below-average record of 3-5. In the past, an average Butler team had the potential to compete with anyone in the state. However, they are now facing challenges, including the departure of coaches and players.
It’s Charlotte—anything can happen. Who knows which players will be on the roster when the season starts?
