Boys basketball 24/25

Just comparing Monroe's basketball and football rosters, it looks like they only have 2 basketball players who weren't on the football team. Kinda hard to play when you're missing 7 of the 8 guys in your rotation.

Makes sense, but that's why I asked. It looks like they are scheduled to play three games until the end of the season. Do you think that will affect them come tournament time/playoffs, especially since they played football into late December?

Before the season started were they expected to be good/win their conference? Last couple years it looks like they were just above .500, but before that they won the conference. I know nothing about the team, other than they seem to be off to a decent start so just wondering what to expect from them.

Question about Lincolnton. I know they have the "stud" in Smith. But he takes 27 shots a game. That is absolutely insane. Does he not have any help? Or is it a legitmate one man band?

I’ve heard this numerous times from others….”one man team”… but I disagree. Smith is an incredible player…he can make a shot from anywhere! He made a turn around jumper from the baseline for 3 against Maiden that was beautiful.. he was chasing the ball to keep it inbounds…pulls up with a quick release…nuttin’ but net!💰I’m sure he has the green light anytime, anywhere…which probably explains his numbers.

However, the Wolves have other really good players that can shoot, their point guard is good, fast too! The wolves are tall, very athletic, and they match up very well against Maiden.

It isn’t just Smith…at least in my opinion….the Wolves have a great team!

They’re getting there…slowly but surely.

The east is just loaded with very good teams as far this state wide ranking is concerned.

I do like that the Blue Devils are sitting 3rd in RPI in the 2a West. I’m hoping they continue on this hot streak. They’re really playing well.

Salisbury sits at 13-3. They take on Thomasville this evening on 1/24. Didn’t realize they had beaten Dudley earlier in the season. But not sure how much Dudley is about being a good basketball team.

The Metro 4A and CPC Standing are a complete mess right now with the top half in each league. Should be an interesting 2 weeks to see how it all shakes out. CPC has 4 teams in the top 8 in RPI and 3 of the 4 are in the top 4 of RPI.

Another showdown between Reidsville and Farmville Central in the state championship game would be 🔥

In the West, there is no one to stop Reidsville. Who out there can give Farmville Central a game? West Bladen has beaten them already. Is that the only one?
Looks like they've got a couple of losses to private schools, West Bladen and Reidsville. If the scores are anything to go by all of these were reasonably close (less than 10 points). So it looks like they've been playing well.

The east has a couple of teams that will give farmville a game. Northwood will be a sleeper that just recently came down from 3a. I think the 2nd team out west is Maiden then Lincolndton has that big time scorer, also sure its a few other teams.

This is always a fun conference to watch!

Can’t help but chuckle….one of the toughest teams that Maiden has played this year is those boys from St. Stephens. They’re currently 33rd in RPI in 3a West. I’m pulling for them, with all I got, to get in the playoffs.

SSAW!🫵

I’ll bet ya…a Weiner Works combo…that Washington wins at home this Friday night against Farmville!😂

Farmville ain’t won their conference yet!

Take a look at West Bladen…they’re only allowing 35 points a game! Do what? Just blows me away.

What kind of ball they playing down there?😂

Not sure who made Reidsville's schedule but they played last thursday, last friday, this monday and again last nite...jeez...they won all 4 by comfortable margins including beating Walkertown last nite 81-53...Rams are off now until Sat. nite when they host Gretna High School out of Virginia who is sporting a 13-1 record........Rams have now won 47 in a row.........

1/28 Lake Norman 87 AL Brown 50
Lake Norman sat it's leading scorer Tre McKinnon out for the game as a precaution. He hurt his knee against Mooresville and Coach Hodges did not want to take any chances.

AL Brown was actually a very hard charging team, tried to run with the ball and press the offense. But they do not have any real height to combat for rebounds. So if AL Brown thought they were fast, they learned fairly quickly that you can not out run hard thrown outlet passes to other players just as fast if not faster than them.

Lake Norman had at least 4 players in double digit scoring. Coach Hodges played 5 JV players almost the entire 4th quarter and the score did not narrow at all.

Do you know the condition of Tre McKinnon. How long he might be out. I wasn’t at these games but someone relayed me the scores.

I spent maybe 15 to 20 minutes talking with him before the game. This was completely caution. He could have played. Unless something else develops which I would not expect then he will play Friday night.
He is really excited about having signed with Appalachian and is completely settled in that decision, despite other larger schools showing interest now.

He said that Josh Yates (Sr) is beginning to get some small school interest and Nick Arnold (Jr) is also.
