Saw this on the 2A board and couldn't help myself.

Not sure if 1966 or 1975 North Davidson is better but both won state, or as much as was possible at the time, with an Area title and WNCHSAA title.

2012 team should have gotten a chance, might be the most talented team we've ever had with Mayton and Tuttle on defense. But the ball did not bounce our way in the semis against Porter Ridge.

2003 team was excellent, but Greenville Rose would have destroyed us with Andre Brown. Forgot the 2001 team with Sean Tuttle. They lost to Independece but outside of Laney we were their closest game. If 4A and 4AA existed that year we might have had a chance in the small division.

Hey BK Nut, definitely think that ND team in 2012 had a chance to make it all the way. Very strong on both sides of the ball. This years version of the Black Knights could make some noise, may have the best offense in school history. Waiting to see how chemistry comes along, but talent and system are there to make this a lethal team on O. If D stays healthy, catch a few breaks along the way, could go even deeper than last year.

Hoggard 2007 team went 15-0 and won the state. That team hammered the 4AA champs earlier in the season. May be the only time the 4AA champs and 4A champs played in the same year. They weren't as dynamic passing as the 13-1 2006 team but overall better.

I think you would've seen a different outcome if they played again later that year. Team grew immensely late in the season.

New Bern has had several really good teams. 2007 wasn't flashy but they were tough as nails. 2012 had one of the best offenses in the state, defense gave up points but made a lot of plays. 2014 was the Mike Hughes show on O and had one of the better defenses we ever had. Our early 2000 years had some really good teams but unfortunately, so did Independence.

This is tough. Either 2005 or 2015 for Catholic. In terms of defense the 2015 team boasted the best I've ever seen at Catholic. Shut down Rose and held them to 14 offensive points in a state title game. They were averaging north of 50 PPG coming in.

I agree NB improved throughout the 07 season but so did Hoggard. Would have been fun to play again but .... As for your comment about the Bears, I saw all those teams multiple times and I would go with the 12 by a bit over 07 team. I think that team went thru a move difficult run thru the playoffs than 14.
