I saw something like this over in the 1A board and thought I would start the conversation on the 2A board. I’m not looking who’s going to be the best at the end but who is playing their best football now.

After Reidsville win last night I would have to say they back in talk. But maybe I’m Bias
Rocky River 2A teams are all pretty good this year so who knows until conference play. I don't believe Monroe's opponents had won a game until last night when 4A Marvin Ridge beat 3A Parkwood who's also part of the Rocky River Conference. The biggest win by the conference was FH knocking off Charlotte Latin last night. Anson County was a 4A team for years in the conference with Richmond County. Not sure what caused their numbers to drop so fast but they always have talent just not good coaching. West Stanly doesn't have as much speed usually but boy do they put out some big lineman every year. Tater eatin' boys as we call them. 😆 🤣

Forest Hills beat Charlotte Latin, that's almost as good as beating Chambers(if Latin isn't down).
The win vs EA is as good a win that any 2a team has most likely. We have a loss that isn’t terrible but not good either. But of course I’m a little bias.
Simmons has Latin around a 130 rating and had FH as a 16 point underdog going into that game. They're not on Chambers level but Latin would be raked high in 2A or top 10-15 3A.
I wasn't sure how good they were this year. I know they've been pretty hard for anybody(4A-2A) to beat in the past. I remember it was Latin, Country Day, and Christian that were gauranteed losses a few years back.
Chambers is rated in the 165 range and that's with a loss to a tough team out of Virginia. You're right though the Private schools can be tough.
Come playoffs these regular teams that consistently are in deep playoffs will be considerably better come playoffs. Reidsville, Shelby, Burns, East Surry would be my picks come that time of year. But now it’s anybodys guess of who better right now. But right now just gets you your seed. Which helps but don’t tell all
Monroe is consistently deep in the playoffs, and has a few trophies. They were 3A for split second, that's why you didn't see them.
I just remember the 2 occasion in recent years where there was a lot of hype and then they lost to a team they shouldn’t have in playoffs. Unless that was another team.
that must have been in 3A, the sent Kings Mountain home the last time they were 3A, but they may have lost to Catholic, which is an unofficial rival of theirs.
They lost to East Surry last year, but they were wrecked by covid
Yea last year was one for sure I remembered. Well there will be some new teams sooner than later making it through west because there’s so many teams that can take it. All comes to matchups
Monroe was even 1A for awhile and then went up to 3A then back to 2A. Forest Hills has also been 3A also and actually played for the 3A title once. Also played in the 3A and 2A West and East finals several times always falling short of getting back. I remember two West finals against Shelby we lost. We can say we have beaten Shelby once though out of three tries. 😆 🤣
Would be nice to get some weird brackets this season where Forest Hills(instead of Cummings) is sent to the east, so we can avoid another blowout title game.

We got sent East a couple times. We lost the East Regional Championship to Southern Vance a few years ago after blowing a huge lead. One of the muddiest fields I've ever seen a game played on. We got to see Reidsville in a Regional title game also. Ya'll beat the 💩 out of us. We scored two touchdowns on them and looking at the schedule that was the most points scored on Reidsville all year. They were unstoppable. Looked like a college team out there against us. 😆
I don’t get the reference lol I know of the post. I never understood how you can go east one year and west the next. Never tried to understand it either. Is it predetermined before the year or do they wait until playoff time
Can't remember the year. I was at the game in Reidsville. They beat us like 55 - 14. Reidsville easily won the title.
Think I remember 2008 the year after I graduated. Those 3 teams, 07,08,09 weren’t going to be beat . They went 48-0
When ya'll came out everybody in the stands thought a Division II or 1-AA college team was was walking out. 😆 We knew we were done. That was one of the biggest high school teams I'd ever seen for 2A especially.
that was in 2008 in a eastern 2AA regional final played in Reidsville...Rams beat Forest Hills 53-14....this was in the middle of a stretch when Reidsville won 55 straight games and three consecutive titles in 2AA in 2007, 2008, and 2009..............they then won 7 straight in 2010 before finally losing a game to Burlington Cummings.......................
Yea I’m not sure what they were feeding us. I was about the smallest out there at 5 ft 11 165lbs but the 08 and 09 teams had even bigger players than the 07 team. With tons of speed. Maybe this year we can meet again
Cummings was the nemesis of that streak. Lost 2 times in 06. Week 2 in OT and in semi finals at Cummings 39-21. Then like you said didn’t lose again until 2010 Cummings. Crazy stat
I think you have to consider Chase, They are 4-0, haven’t been really tested yet, they are big upfront, an unbelievable running back & 2 dual threat quarterbacks. 1st test will be Hendersonville in 2 weeks.

I’m biased. But, that Monroe and forest hills matchup is shaping up to be something. Doesn’t forest hills have a few d1 guys?
They do but they're also still young which does worry me. Tons of speed and decent size. Also the transfer QB from Providence 6'3" Brady Hibbard who's already being looked at as a junior. Latin gave him fits Friday but when he has time he's got an arm.
You can say the same about Monroe's opponents also. Their schedule looked tough but it hasn't turned out that way so far.
