The raider season will not be over win or lose Friday night. The players and coaches are coming in to pate to win. They are not going to lay down and just let the Scots win. They will give it 100%. Scotland's fans have little to brag about especially when it comes to football and Richmond just look at the numbers. All the numbers not just the last 6 years. As for our coach I am 100% behind him just like probably 95% of the Raider fans. I believe he will take us to the promise land but it's gonna be tough in the 4aa. First things first let's win Friday GO RAIDERS 7>1

It's hard to win when you have a stack deck and that's what Scotland has a stack deck , but the Raiders will come and play the hands that they have fact, but what if .

I was going to post on the Scotland fans thread, but I think most are dumber for having read some of those comments. It is now locked. I don't want to start another thread, so here is my take:
The only team around here that will beat Scotland is Scotland themselves. Scotland needed one year that they were so much bettter than RC, that no mystique, mindset, or doubt could help us. That year was 2011. Scotland has been the better team ever since and just more horses. That team brought home a trophy while the rest of the conference started basketball. They have built a great program. Good or great, it's all a matter of opinion. I say getting to great quickly if they can maintain and be consistently good. That's the tough part, but they are building a track record since 2011.
The recruiting piece-lets stop that crap. If a kid changes within the rules, go for it. The reason they do is there is a program that attracts them. Or maybe to play for a coach, but the fact remains that you have to build a program that they want to play for.
Scotland endured many tough years being behind the curtain since we were in the spotlight, so what comes around has came for us. I'm glad we have a team from the conference that gets some attention and makes some noise.
We will be fine. Hood is going to be special and starting him at QB as a freshman will pay dividends if we can get some linemen, Miller is a great RB and the kids are coming around with some good receivers. The lineman need to get after it in the off-season and get the big kids out of the hallways.
If RC comes out and plays 4 quarters, Scotland comes out flat and shoot themselves in the foot enough, it could be close. Turnovers would help. Otherwise the lines will be too much and I would say a 3 score difference. Love to see us pull it it, but I am being a realist. I give credit where its due.

I will add since I was off the thread topic above that I think we will see more passing since Hood is back there, especially as he develops. The only caveat is he will need some time and protection. It would be great to see a good mix and try to expose Scotlands secondary.

Hit the nail on the head with the 2011 statement. So many times we have escaped with victories not because we had the better team but because of the mystique and mindset of both going into the game. We knew things would work out and they knew something would go wrong. But that mystique has been removed and the shoe is on the other foot. Going to take a lot for our kids to overcome.

Some people in other parts of the state never understood this rivalry. They would say that it wasn't a true rivalry because of the overall record. But those people were never at the games, never saw how these games are played, never saw how they were won or lost. Very few times has either team walked into this game with no hope or nothing on the line. Probably less than 5 times in the existence of the programs has it been played when the conference championship or part of it wasn't at stake. The origins of "Raider Magic" originated from this rivalry. Without a lil magic from somewhere there is no way we win over some of the Scots teams in the past. Those of us old enough to have enjoyed this match up, regardless of favorite team, know this to be true. Even back to the 70's. But magic alone does not win, just like magic didn't help us 2011 and the years since. Players play the game and right now the Scots have the players just like in the last few years. But players who believe in magic can be very dangerous....and we all know that too.
Spot on G and G. The thing Raider fans have to keep in mind is that it's fun. To go and watch a team play and somehow over the years win about 8 out of every 10 times they play is something special. We have been spoiled in a good way. Throw some championships in there and it just adds to the excitement. The "rivalry" was reinvigorated when Scotland starting winning. People that don't know, just have to go to see this is a great rivalry. I hope for a great game and no injuries!
