Raider RB’s Miller and Covington are fine players. The freshman Qb #12 Hood has the ability to pass the ball to a group of above average receivers. I just think if they would pass earlier and mix in the run they would be harder to game plan against. Not to mention Hood is pretty fast on his feet as well. We will have to pass early and often to win this point on. With no threat of pass You become one dimensional.

I agree with you Mr. Fun Raiders are a better team when passing the football, I just don't get it if we as raider fan can see it why can't the coaches see the same thing, all I'm saying coaches is who ever is calling the plays in needs to open the play book a little wider. I believe more of the Raider fan will agree also . I'm not saying throw the football on every down, but you can throw it before 3rd and long just my 2 cents. Go 7 Times State Champions Richmond Raiders.

they throw. middle coach tell me
I do agree they do throw . The coaches are waiting to late at times to put the pass plays into the football game, and when they do it makes the Raiders a better team just my 2 cents worth this morning Mr Robinson. They like to have waited to late on 71st , and if they hadn't started throwing the football we would have had another L 71st was just that good, and happy for the Raider Team they played a hard fought game. 7 Times State Champions Richmond Raiders.

The team and Coaches are doing a fine job .I have saw thing's that has amazed me ,I wish there was a site that the team and coaches could bash the criticizing fans. lets see how you like it if they holler back crap at you,

Not saying the coaches aren't doing a fine job, and if you have been at the game Friday night you would have seen how the game was won , 71st had us until we started throwing the football, we have to throw it to run it and if you don't like a opinion and that's all it is Deweyrulz1951 I'm sorry. 7 Times State Champions Richmond Raiders.

I was there an did see .
Then you saw what myself and Mr. Fun are talking about and I'm behind the Raiders know matter what happens here on out and good luck to the coaches they have a hard job and I know you guys are working hard with the kids no doubt about that just please don't leave the offense on the sideline take the chance throw it a little more.

So your philosophy is to use the pass to set up the run. Most high school coaches prefer to use the run to set up the pass and for multiple reasons. You see, if you pass first and are unsuccessful, you put yourself "behind the sticks". Also passing usually ends up with more quick 3 & outs which also puts your defense behind the 8 ball with minimal rest. Running the ball eats up clock and keeps the other offense on the sideline, out of rhythm, and less time to work with.

These are just a few of the reasons most "good" coaches choose to do the opposite of what you propose. Savvy?

I did not say anything about being a pass first team. I said they should throw more earlier in games. As I said earlier Miller and Covington are fine players. But waiting until your behind with 3 minutes to go to pass the ball is dangerous. This freshman QB has shown poise and has the talent to make it happen. If they throw the ball only 11 times at Scotland the game will be over early. Did you not clearly see how they won the 71st game? Or are you too busy drinking the OC kool aid?

Just saying Twister use the pass , not wait until we are in a hole and have to digg our way out of it and also you are right not a fan of just passing the football I do understand we need to run it too and we have some kids who can get it done both ways, just a little more passing in the offense may make a little difference mixing it up a little more that's all I'm saying not trying to hurt the team or the coaches I reckon they know more than I , but I do support them every Friday night.

Actually, 20 years of studying the game and talking to coaches have given me a tad bit of insight as to the way some coaches think. You have noticed that Coach Till coaches a conservative aggressive style. I know that sounds counter intuitive but consider the way he game plans. He is overall conservative with intermittent, intentional aggressiveness. He really is aggressively conservative.

Just wondering do you have the offensive line to pass protect against Scotland.

A wise old coach told me one time , on a pass play 3 things can happen and two of them ARE BAD......The game we threw it the most was the game we played the WORST.....I think we have 10 passing td's and 30 rushing td's...Completed 65% of our passes, which is really good ,especially with a freshman qb, but 35% of the time when you throw you get 0 yardage.....By throwing constantly , the linebackers, corners and safeties begin to get deeper drops that make it easier to play the pass, and the defensive linemen just tee off with no worry about getting hurt by the run......But by mixing in the constant run those d linemen , linebackers and safeties have to be ready to fill their gaps and lanes to stop the run.... Here we are Setting in a position in the final week to win the Conference Championship.....Once you get that run established , those backers and safeties begin to move up , and that my friends opens up the passing lanes..If they dont you continue to pound the football with the ground attack.......Play calling all depends on the down and distance , time on the clock ,timeouts , score, and what the defense is giving you...Hey, this team has not been perfect, but they are getting better at the right time.....All we asked for was a chance at the end and we have put ourselves in that position.. ..Once a Raider , ALWAYS A RAIDER....

Everybody talks bad about our offensive line...In my opinion they are the MOST IMPROVED BUNCH ON OUR TEAM......Guess we'll find out Friday night....

I would like to see a little more passing on 1st down just to try to catch the defense off guard. We have done pretty good protecting our QB this year.
That’s the point I’m trying to make. Not change the offense or bash the coach or players..

I’m not criticizing anyone.. I just don’t know how you could interpret it that way.

Fun and Gun that is what this site is for (state opinions on hs ball). I don't bash the kids by name or number but when I see things that don't look right I point it out. Some fans take it to far but most on here are stating what the believe to be true no matter if they are right or wrong. RC is headed in the right direction and I think in 2019 the tide might change but I think SC is better the next 2 year but not by much next year. This year if they both play their best I think SC is 14-21 better. If either one of them turn the ball over left an right that changes everything.

JMAC,we have some fast wide receivers who can catch the ball. All I’m saying is use those weapons earlier and more often. Everyone we plays crowds the line of scrimmage with there safeties knowing we are a run first team. As far as Scotland goes I know what they got down there. Scots are big fast and well coached.

Best way to beat SC IMO is to chunk it around and mix in draws, screens and mis-direction run plays. North Davidson did that better than anyone a few years ago. The freshman qb will be a very good player for you all.

He’s doing a great job at QB. They just need to use him his arm more often. There’s no way I would play Scotland on Friday and not use every weapon I had at my disposal.

Back in August, Richmond was not supposed to be much about this conversation. They've come around to be the decent team that I felt they would... they hit a few bumps in the road, but survived. They play a tough schedule. The qb. has been passing well enough accuracy... Receiving has gotten better. They dropped some earlier. They have the team to mix it up with Scotland. They're gonna have to Score alot. Two very good programs. If Richmond shows up, don't be intimidated, play 48 minutes, mix it up and we got a game. Good luck and play safe both teams... mistakes will be drastic for either team...GO RAIDERS...

12th man is very important, to me they seem some what passive a lot more cheering and at-a-boys would be appreciated I believe . its been a little quiet in the stands. I cant holler like I use to ,thinking bout a cowbell , wow a cow bell .....making noise making noise...

. I agree with you the stands are to quite the Raider fan need to stand up and start yelling and let's make a lot of noise, we can be the 12th man Raider nation.

I been saying this for years. It seems like this team really feeds off the crowd. Look at the second half against butler and then 71st. I wish if people going to just set on there hands they would just stay at home.

Apology accepted. I’m just a fan who would like see the team go as far as they possibly can.
Mr. Fun and Mr. Deweyrulz1951 , I to will love for my Raiders to go as far as possible they have done a great job and I know that there is still a lot more offense in our Raider team I will be a Raider fan for life.

We will see if ya'll love the coach after this Friday night, ya'll won against SF and ain't done nothing but complain and coach on here. Game against the Scots will be over by half time i hope the fans will still be behind Till his coaching style had to be know before being hired.

Some probably did, Ya'll coming off a win against SF and B, so you missed my point save it for this Friday night. Go Scots

depends on how it goes down no shame in taking an L it is more about how you played and who gave you the L. Taking an L to Heritage or Harding could be ok anyone else will be a hard pill to swallow.

Hey sikner51, I know nothing about coach Till he seems to be a great guy and I hope he works out for Richmond for a long time politics play a big roll in the program at Richmond and that's sad because that's what happened to the last coach we had politics will move thing in and out when the right people get to running their mouths you can say bye, bye coach or coaches, but I really hope coach Till hangs around for a while , and now you say the game will be over at halftime, I will not get into a war with you, but you sir enjoy your one Ring, and we will keep on enjoying our 7 Times State Championship Rings. Now cry baby cry . Lol

To be honest if you never played on a championship you have no rings. We as fans get too caught up in this stuff. None of use for the most part have done anything to help a team win a ring. I get the school pride stuff but the New Bern guys kill me they actually have some who have rings - not sure if the school allowed them to buy them or if you had any loose affiliation with the team you could get one. The kids and staff are the champions they are the only ones that made the real sacrifice. I hope SC wins another one but I promise you it is not my ring its the folks that did it. RC with 7 rings is a great accomplishment but it is truly a players accomplishment not a bunch of old heads like me and many of you who enjoy these and other sites.
