AC Reynolds @ Shelby

Shelby Qb 22-31 486 yards 5 tds one int

Dowdle for ACR unreal athlete he had to have close to 300 rushing ... Two teams with unreal athletes on offense .... Wow

Acr has a great ball team ... What can I say about the Shelby offense as well ... WOW

There was something like 51 first downs .... This was an absolute offensive showcase ! Little defense ! We could not tackle dowdle! Thought emmons was a beast this kid is on another level..... Through two games the Shelby qb has somewhere around 900 passing and ten touchdowns ... I can remember entire seasons we didn't have 900 yards passing

Hardly!!! it was Dowdle back to pass, Dowdle scrambling around running around, through, over Shelby defenders ... One long Td I swear he broke 15 tackles ... We just could not tackle him and he kept them in this game.... Their run defense was very stout .... Huge lines ... Very impressed with them as always... Such a well coached hard hitting bunch ... Only will make us better down the road

Sounds like Adrian Peterson at QB

That kid is probably the best player that any of us will see this year or maybe years to come. I have never seen anyone dismantle a Sheby defense that way. He is the real deal. Shelby has a great offense but the stats are a little deceptive. Most of the passing yards are YAC. Quick pass to the side lines and the receivers take it deep. The QB is solid but gets a lot of yards from the ability of the receivers to move after the catch. Don't think I have ever seen that much YAC in my life. Shelby has a shifty group that catches 5 yard passes and turns them into 40 yd tds. Great game. Dowdle is amazing.

High-octane offenses tonight. Dowdle reminded me a lot of Shelby's Norris Hopper from the late 90s. The best play for ACR was a pass with nobody open and Dowdle improvised. He was incredible.

Shelby had huge games all over the place on offense. QB had over 480 yards passing and 5 TDs...4 different WRs with over 70 yards receiving - 2 over 140 yds.

Great early schedule for Shelby - already faced Alabama commit Emmons and Notre Dame target Dowdle...next week get the Red Bone offense of South Point...another great test.

Dowdle makes Emmons look like a middle school player.
No doubt the best Shelby will see this year.
If you have a chance, go see this kid play. With him and Logan as ACRs one two punch, the Rockets will be a tough out come November.

I was at game in morganton . Emmons kicked ball off in endZone . Played both ways the entire game ... Had a one handed pick in the endZone and took it for 6 and dealt with ten in the box all night on defense .... Middle school player? Nick Saban doesn't think so . You are an idiot .... Imo ur great number 44..... 36 is better than he is . Over rated

Wide receivers are making the Shelby QB look unreal. All the yards seem to come on after the catch. Short 2 yard passes went 40 yards. When he under threw the receivers came back and saved the plays and had big gains. You could not add every seven teams in Catawba County and come up with the number of receivers Shelby has.

Rico Dowdle is a average QB but an absolute monster running back. AC Reynolds would be a dangerous option team. Rico was the best athlete on the field tonight.

No power before the game at Crest last week and the lights go out tonight. Cleveland County Schools not paying their power bill?

Agree completely. Shelbys ability to make things happen after the catch was almost as unreal as Dowdle being able to lay waste to their defense the way he did. Shelby QB is solid and dishes the ball out well, but The receivers are the true reason for the yards. I didn't expect to see that many yards put up from 1-5 yard passes. I really don't think that SP will have an answer next week for all that speed and shiftiness. They have a good Defense and I seriously doubt another team will put that many points on the board. If the ACR defense gets in a groove, they could be a real force come playoff time.

AC Reynolds is probably not that bad on defense if you think about it. They are solid against the run and pass rush well. But four receivers on quick passes is very hard to defend. It plays out to be a one on one basketball game with Shelby. No way another team on the AC schedule has that many receivers going one on one on their defensive backs.

I might get some flack on this: Dowdle may be better than BJ Emmons. This kid could play a number of positions when he selects a college. He made Shelby defenders look like middle schoolers. And Shelby is no push over. The AC offense didn't look like organized football and more like Rico Dowdle backyard fun. Looking forward to seeing what he does this year.

hey paws84....lighten up Francis.

Since you think Hollifield, Shelby's #44, is over-rated? Well that is fine and is your opinion. I simply stated mine. And I'm far from being an idiot lol.
And yes, seeing Emmons play last week and Dowdle play this week, he made everybody on the field look as if they were on a lower level..lol.
I am sure there are a lot of people on here who disagree with my synopsis and that is ok.
And I am sure Nick Saban does too. Emmons will do well at 'Bama after he gets redshirted and then plays special teams for a year. By his junior year, in the classroom, and sophomore year on the field, he will get his chance to make some noise.
And that isn't a knock on him either. I hope Freedom and Reynolds get a chance to play each other this year. It would be a great game.
The one thing that does help Dowdle though is that he has better playmakers around him.
Again, just an opinion.

Emmons and Dowdle are both great players/athletes; they are just totally different type players. Emmons has committed to Alabama, obviously, and Dowdle has been offered by Wake Forest, Boston College, Vanderbilt, and others...plus has been talking with Notre Dame, from what I was told last night.

In my opinion, Emmons is the better pure RB, with power and speed...while Dowdle is more of an open-field athlete, which might translate to Dowdle playing slot receiver or being a dual-threat RB at the next level.

I know one thing, they are both incredible and any team would love to have them wearing their colors.

Shelby will give the Crest team a fit. From what I have seen to this point, the Shelby Offense looks to be a lot more explosive. They create a ton of one on ones by getting the ball to the revivers super fast. It's hard to get to the QB since he throws it as soon as he touches it. Also, Dax is far from overrated. He is a monster and has involvement in almost every defensive play. I'm far from a Shelby fan, but I must admit that the way they are utilizing their talent admirable. I would love to see them go against EL this year.

With Dowdle you can see why AC beat Crest in the jamboree.

I guess Shelby is a top 10 team in the state. Mallard Creek would struggle with Shelby. AC ran all over us and we couldn't score. I just hope we can stay within 3 scores of Shelby.

Paws, why do you think he had to face ten in the box? Could it been that superb offensive play calling?
What is your honest opinion about that offensive scheme against Shelby?

You read all of that into one statement. You need to relax.I was just saying Dowdle is a great athlete and will give a lot of teams a fit this year.Including the Lions last night.

Shelby is the team to beat. The Crest defense is just not that good this year. We gave up 19 points in a half to AC and 28 in a game to Ashbrook last night. Shelby will put 50 on us this year. We need to recruit a little better next year.

Shelby is going to be a tough game for anyone on their schedule.Their receivers are lightning fast and make the defenders miss quite often. The AC defense had to respect that speed and thus allowed the quick pass and paid the price in that respect. When AC pressed them the play calling was perfect for the over the top pass.I had to remind my brother last night at the Shelby fans who complained when Coach Ware took over for the Golden Lions and his offensive mindset of pass before the run.Shelby is loaded offensively.
Defensively the Golden Lions are quicker than in the past.Hollifield is very talented and they even started another freshman at LB.

Dowdle was very impressive. He is a runner playing QB, that did a very adequate job. When he squared his shoulders, to the line of scrimmage, his passes were on target.#3 AND #11 were good play makers for the Rockets and made some fine plays last night.AC appeared to have some good running backs in #4,who went down late with a leg injury, and #6 who came in nursing an apparent previous shoulder injury. Dowdle is definitely the stroke that runs the Rocket offense and the 50+ yard td run he had in the first half was one of the best I've ever witnessed. He faked running out of bounds, broke at least four tackles and "SPED" into the end zone.

A very entertaining high school football game and I believe both teams will have a very successful season. Good luck!

Yes Cheerduck the Lions started two 10th graders and a 9th grader at linebacker.Very young defense with only a few seniors starting.

Maybe it was two statements- Easy to see why AC beat Crest pretty good in the Cleveland County jamboree.

If a flaw exist in Shelby's armor it is with the defense. It's not that they don't hustle, tackle, or don't have talent because they do all these. Their aggressiveness gets them in trouble. Defensively the need to be more disciplined and stay in front of the ball.

I didn't realize Dax Hollifield was only a 10th grader this year. He and the other linebackers are very good athletes. Shelby has a lot to look forward to in the next couple years.

Gotta wonder why Crest didnt play some starters in jambo, was it cause they knew this Ac team is dangerous,or was it being cautious like they say...course i was told Ac had few starter not playing that night too..
But anybody that thinks Ac isnt good is wrong.
Shelby needed that test to come from behind and be down to a team.Good experience for them down road.....
Now on to South Point.....but i just still dont see a 2a team stopping us

Godevilsgo, your pretty smart with football and netural to Shelby -Crest...u have seen both..whats your take of when they meet end of year.

Crest did play some staters and they lost the scrimmage. So Shelby has beat a team that beat Crest. Shelby is definitely the better team and that's fine. We can't win them all.

Thats not what Shelby people are looking at,
We know how good Crest is,but seems most Crest folks dont think Shelby is playing anyone...Last week many Crest Fans said to me Freedom sucks, and im sure will here same with Ac....I know neither may not win State but both can and will go into playoffs and could go deep....
As for Shelby we always get better in year, just hope injurys dont hit....looking forward on rematch with Crest.

Shelby will go undefeated this year! They're beating 3a teams by 2 tds, who can beat them in 2a? And if you haven't heard your middle school coach said this might be his best team ever. Shelby might win 5-6 in a row no joke.

Just keep remembering that we are only two games in with a lot of football left.As with BJ Hopper last week we see how quick things can change. One game at a time and we know what South Point has done to us the last two years.

Shs i agree,u were right at Freedom u were quick to remind me how quick it can change.
But i also agree injurys could be bad,
Hoping the D. Will develop more, coach Ware had told me they changed d up this week, maybe they will still play with it till right line up...
But our offense can only get better, and i like looks of it

Because they have a very good offense with a great QB.People were quick to judge Crest not being as good but playing without some starters lost to a talented squad.

It was a scrimmage. AC has a nice team and Dowdle is great. Crest may not be as good but it was a scrimmage. I know that might be hard to understand.
