Tough matchup for the Panthers as they battle some key injurys & youth. The Redhawks are hitting on all cylinders and are looking for a little revenge after last years 3rd rd loss to Franklin. Thoughts?......

This will be a huge task for Franklin, but that's why you play the game. Franklin will need to control the ball. limit any turnovers and play very well on Special Teams.

Here is a link to Charlotte Preps. They show highlights of the Monroe versus Weddington game which was played back in September. Monroe came from behind to win in overtime. The highlights are between the :20 and 2:40 mark.

The way it looks is that all Monroe's games have been blowouts, it looks like the pressure is on them to have another, if Franklin stays within 50 that would be considered an upset wouldn't it??
Franklin is a good team. No blowout expected. Monroe is favored over everyone now. At 11-0 and beating Weddington it's expected.

Brooks will have them ready. Yes it will be a tuff task but Franklin will give you all they have. Just wish we had them in the pit!

Being a Forest Hills Alum. I hope Franklin wins. Can't pull for Monroe. Just can't do it. FH still has the only State Football Championship in this county. Granted it was in 1984 and I was there. Just don't want Monroe to win it. Any school but Monroe. Intense rivalry. I'm a Duke fan and will never pull for the Tarheels for any reason. Never. Same applies here......lol!! Good luck to Franklin. I will say Monroe is loaded but that's all the praise I'll give them. Lol!!!! Hope everyone has a Great Thanksgiving weekend in Franklin.

Jacket, were you part of the 1983 crew that got upset by the Panthers in The Pit?

No, I was playing football in Middle school then. The FH teams in the early 80's were coached by the late Algie Faircloth. I didnt go to the Franklin/FH game in 83. I don't remember why. We had a great team and y'all beat us I do know that. We went on and won the title in 2A in 84 then runner up in 3A in 85 and just missed again in the 86 regional final to a good Shelby team that won the 3A title that year I believe. 1986 was my freshman year. Great games back then. Totally different offenses back then. We ran the Oklahoma style wishbone to perfection in most games. I enjoyed watching it. Wish I had gone to that 83 game though.

Good deal. Before my time as well but my friend QB'd the Panthers that year and ask me to take the old film and make it into DVD for him and old teammates. Film quality was awful! LOL. You all were HUGE that year!

Monroe by 21. Any (undefeated) team that can beat weddington is dangerous. Asheville couldn't do it. Reynolds couldn't do it. If this game were in Franklin, Monroe by 7 but since it's in Monroe I'm going with the home team by 21. Franklin has a 4 hour bus ride, to play the most speed they've seen all year, against an undefeated team who wants revenge...that's not a good recipe.

Story gets old, but the team speed of Monroe is like nothing most 2A teams have seen. It is really hard to play physical with them because you actually have to make contact to hit them. So between revenge for last year and speed on home turf, have to go with Monroe.

Monroe 50 Franklin 7 final. Lot's of respect for the RedHawks! 7-7 in the 1Q & then poof they were gone. Without a doubt a title contender. As for the Panthers after losing 25 Sr's off last years team & looking at a major rebuild the 3rd rd, 10 wins, & a 3rd straight conf title are gravy. Lots of talent coming back & up next year. The future is bright guys. As always when the season ends wanted to take a minute to thank our radio announcers that work tirelessly to bring the games to us who can't be there....thanks guys! See you all next year.
