Looks like Starmount and ER will be battling it out for a shot at a state championship game appearance the next few years. Starmount has a lot of talent coming up the next few years. East Wilkes and Murphy in the mix as well.

Not a sure thing but could be possible ER might end up getting to play Tarboro at some point…
Look forward to seeing the battles between Starmount and ER. Not sure about ER(I figure they will be loaded as usual) but early prediction Starmount and ER in the West Final next year.

Does anybody know what will happen to the football playing schools in this 1A lineup? Or does anyone know how they will deal with the schools that don't play football at all classes?

Presumptuous to count Murphy out of that equation, they're a young team this season with a really talented JV team moving up. Murphy has a chance to be very good next season.
Definitely not counting Murphy out. Look forward to seeing them next year. I put them in a follow up post. East Wilkes has a talented JV group coming up as well

Lets talk about the Mount Airy faithful and how they're going to react knowing they have to contend with Reidsville and Shelby every year.
like always, one game at the time. Bring them on, one at the time. Will not be the first time mt Airy has had to play teams above its weight.

From NCHSAA:

When at least 25 percent of the total number of member schools, or at least half the schools in a classification, participate in a sport sanctioned by the NCHSAA, that sport shall culminate in a state championship for that classification. When less than half of the schools in a classification participate, those schools shall be grouped with schools from the next largest classification(s) not having fifty percent participation in that sport to create a state playoff bracket culminating in a multi-class state championship. If only one classification has less than fifty percent of schools participating in a sport, the schools in that classification shall have a reduced playoff bracket by one round. If that is not possible, then the schools of that classification shall be placed in the state playoffs of the next highest classification.

Looks like Robbinsville is about to win 4 championships in a row. Lol

Lets talk about the Mount Airy faithful and how they're going to react knowing they have to contend with Reidsville and Shelby every year.
Well Shelby will be 3a and Reidsville will be 4a with the latest projection. We will be fine the first year and compete with anyone but after that we will have a big drop off. We have a large junior class and don’t lose many key parts and that junior class will be loaded, maybe even better than last years graduating class. No drop off next year so we are ready for whoever we face. Go Bears!!!

They shoulda kept 1A/2A together. With them being separated both of them are weak as branch water.

Based on latest ADM’s and what the NCHSAA says they will do. The 32 biggest schools will be 8a and then divide everything else equally meaning each class will have 58 teams. IF that stands true Shelby will be second biggest 3a school and Reidsville will be fourth smallest 4a school. Wallace Rose Hill and James Keenan will be 3a in East. But things always change.

Reidsville will be in 3a with yesterday's numbers

Especially 1A football. Not many options for the football teams to have a league with all those non-football charter schools. 1A West has like 26 schools and most are charters or the SMC schools.
