2020 season in Febuary.

It’s not enough to believe in a God. Satan believes and trembles. I am an essential worker and have been on the front lines everyday since this all started. I along with my coworkers wear PPE and do all the right things but us as well as others are still getting sick. Just live your life. You will either get it or not. We, despite what the “experts say” have very little to do with the results
But does everyone you come into contact with wear PPE? You wearing it protects others not yourself. That’s what the experts say anyway...
How did I get roped into this discussion? I’m out brother. Stay healthy.

I certainly didn’t invite you into the conversation but if I’m wearing my PPE then I should be safe right? Nope!! You folks are hilarious

It is the flu. Put the bottle down old man and educate your self.
And you got your medical degree from where? Folks you want to know why there likely wont be football this spring (or fall?) People like this are directly responsible. Dont blame the governor. Dont blame the scientists. This guy is a perfect example.

I certainly didn’t invite you into the conversation but if I’m wearing my PPE then I should be safe right? Nope!! You folks are hilarious
And there’s the “you people” line...
Hence the divide.

Dude when people don’t agree there is a divide. Regardless of the terms used. Agree to disagree is just terms people put on things to make it PC. I just tell it like it is

You have major problems. Well when Jesus steps out to call me and the rest of Gods children home you will see that our invisible Wizard as you call him is way more than you give him credit for. Well until that glorious time.....Wear your damn mask do what you are told. That will be enough.

All knowing one, Mule that needs a mute button. Most deaths have been in nursing homes And they don't matter do they? Lest you forget this virus didnt ORIGINATE in nursing homes. It was brought in there by people....(maybe you?) They just cant deal with it along with their other problems. But that demographic isnt ALL this virus kills. I saw one of the dumbass Republican congressman elect from LA 41 years old that was "determined to live his life." And he did....For about two weeks after he contracted the virus. IM OK with that, but not OK with the people he undoubtedly infected that didn't have to die. I know you're ok with that too. Finally, I know Rush didn't tell you, so maybe its not your fault since you don't have access to legitimate facts and media, but this is NOT the flu. Lets not see or hear anymore comparisons between the flu and this virus. THey are not valid, and repeated flawed comparisons does not make them so.

They are plenty comparable. I haven’t been in or around a nursing home yet with all the precautions they still get infected. You can’t stop it not matter. I don’t want anyone to die but not I not you nor anyone else is In control of that but God almighty. I’m not God so I’m not trying to act like him. Try learning your roll which that isn’t?

"My " Invisible Wizard" is the God of the all creation"
Then didnt he also create this virus as well? Might ask Him about that, given your close association with Him.

Speaking of research, I have seen several reports of a link between extremely low levels of vitamin D3 in those dying of Covid in skilled care facilities.

Don't know if that means everyone needs more D3 but it seems certain that those in confined living don't have much access to the sun which is our major source of D3.

I was in Sams Club yesterday and they are limiting D3 bottles to one per customer so apparently others are also hearing the same.

Now I remember. It was your nursing home posts. I took them at you meaning highest percentage of deaths were there and I told you it was 40% leaving 60 for the rest. That’s not telling it “like it is”. Sorry

It’s funny how the flu doesn’t even exist this year. It’s because you are being fooled by the media and government and CDC etc. open up your eyes

I am DEFINITELY not trying to get in on y’all’s tête-à-tête but actually from what I can find reading articles, yeah I know still shocking, between 39 and 42% of deaths from COVID occur in nursing homes. That means 60% are out here amongst us common folk.
Plus as I have mentioned on here before the PPE stuff is to protect others from my germs. Not sure why that makes people who wear them when asked to “afraid”. Looks like these people would be caring of their fellow man not “getting marching orders”. I am definitely not trying to pick on you. I have had the same disagreements with many of my closest friends. Last year was a perfect storm in USA with pandemic and election causing a monumental divide among many. Glad it’s over and hope 2021 is markedly better.

Oh yeah I believe there is a God. Doesn’t mean we can’t question his methods at times. Makes us humans.
IM OK with this post it shows thought and consideration for others. Both commodities in short supply in many of these posters.

He is creator and I am creation. I think I will let him handle why and what. I do know he allows us to do what we do and someone in Wuhan made this thing. Not God

The nursing homes are the largest group. Take what I’m saying in context. Anyway your kind are brain dead and blind zombies. You believe everything the left feeds you. Do you live in your parents basement?

Do some cyber stalking. Way too old for that to be true. I have my own 30 year old basement that I built and I am not in it either. My father has been gone 6 years and my mother is 78. My youngest graduated from HS 3 years ago and is a junior in college. It’s actually none of your business, at least in my time it wasn’t , but I am like the majority of people in that I have both conservative and liberal viewpoints

. I do appreciate you however hitting all the cliches people use when someone disagrees with them.

The percentage game makes us feel better. 42% of 346,000 is 145,320. That’s 145,320 people in nursing homes who have passed from Covid. That’s someone’s parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, sister, brother, love of their life.

That’s my grandfather who recently caught Covid at a nursing home after being transferred from a hospital for additional care. (Tested positive three times from initial surgery at hospital to entering nursing home, caught Covid from a staff member).

Life is bigger than football. Young, old, Democratic or Republican, black or white, we should be taking precaution for one another. It should be Team America. But it’s not. I said it in another thread, people in our state are the reason we may not play in February. And honestly, I’m becoming concerned about this fall too. We don’t care

Why would we not play? Most states did this past fall and without any major issues. We should have played. IMO, it would be fear mongers that threaten play more than the actual virus.

Sorry about your grandfather.

TheKidd12, it’s time you got out of your parents basement and man up. LOL

Sorry about that. I kinda got a laugh out of it.
The very best of a new year to you and your family.
Speaking of family, Today is my Mother’s birthday. If she were living she would be 108.
She lived to be 93, one month shy of 94 and with the exception of her last couple of months she was rarely sick. Hope I can make it that far.

No offense, but I have stated my reasoning ad nauseam on here. Fear mongering and the common negative generalizations tell the story of why we are getting our butts kicked by Covid. Covid, and those that liken it to the flu or downplay it, is the reason we didn’t play last fall, the reason February is hanging by a thread, and the threat to this fall.

Well, my mother, who has lived alone (next door to us) for the past 27 years, will be 99 in three weeks. We do not allow anyone into her home now except myself and my brother and sister. And we wear masks and do not get near her.

Hoping to get her the vaccine in the next two weeks.

Happy New Year everyone!

OK, lol. I’m confused. I don’t think those of us that see no reason to have not played, or not play, are the ones spreading the fear. The fear mongers are people that see no hope of playing because “we” aren’t doing the right things.

I too have stated my case. I for one have never thought Covid was the flu. I had it. I know it’s real and I know for some populations it can be deadly. I also know that many are affected very little by it. Finally, many, many people that have done all the right things have gotten it so I contend we have to learn to live with it. The operable word being live. Covis 19 is here to stay.

As to playing this spring. If b-ball completes the seasons they are about to start we will have spring football. If they don’t I guess we’ll wait and see. My final word. If we aren’t playing next fall it will be because high school football in the USA has been outlawed. It is the epitome of pessimism to think that we will in the funk into next fall.

TheMule, I wish your Mother the best. If my Mom was here, now, with this virus I would be in knots I’d try and isolate her, too.

You are right on appvol. Saw a lot of movement this past fall. If we don’t play soon there will be an exodus like we’ve never seen.

A teacher friend recently shared some numbers with me. In 2000(?) 94% of all school age children in NC attended traditional public schools. This year that percentage has dropped to about 72%.

Charters, which are public schools on a technicality only, account for a good number of those no longer in “traditional” public schools. Home Schooling has also had a big influence. Failure with respect to achievement and discipline also factor in.

The whole point is public education as most of us have known it is dying. At some point, and probably too late to do any good, DPI and state education leaders will realize what the NCHSAA has known for years. Not only is high school sports the best drop out prevention program we have, it may be one of the best things left to keep kids in public schools.

I will say this about a spring season. The Covid numbers are not going to be good. The prevalence of the virus has always been thought to be greater than early testing showed. Now that testing has improved our worst fears are becoming reality. This virus is here and not going away anytime soon.

I believe there is a true resolve on the part of the association to have a season. What’s going to happen though is because of protocols teams will lose games. As it is now, in many school systems if a player tests positive, the whole program gets shut down for 2 weeks. This is in keeping with most county health department policies.

What are the chances that in a program with 100 players there won’t be some positives. Depending on when these occur a team could conceivably lose their whole season because or 3 or 4 positive tests. To me that is the greater threat to the season, not the idea that Covid is so deadly it isn’t safe to play.

Thats a very good point above. I think the NCHSAA wants to play, and sees the need to play sports. But teams are going to lose games due to positive tests......look at SC or any other state that played this fall, and I would bet that most teams lost a game due to COVID complications. As long as one positive test shuts the whole team down-it will be almost impossible. And most schools are gonna do that bc they dont want to let it keep going after a positive test and then be seen as the cause for an outbreak.

I certainly hope we can but a point that I failed to make is that in NC it’s my opinion, we have in place a set of protocols that will make it more difficult to have a season than it was in other states. I know for a fact that SC schools handled positive tests in a totally different way.

For us to have a better chance at completing a spring season our protocols will need to change. I don’t have a lot of faith that will happen in the next 6 weeks.

Between my basement dwelling and GSO being a young buck things have taken a weird turn around here...
My family is good sir. Daughter had Covid and didn't come home for Thanksgiving (afraid close quarters in basement might give it to her parents?). She made it for Christmas though.
December is kind of tough for me. Daddy passed on December 4th, 2014. He would have been 80 this year. One thing I hate is he got to see little man play only 9th grade jv football. He was so proud of him and missed out on everything my son played in HS especially baseball wise. Heck Daddy would have even enjoyed a trip to get whooped his junior year in football. Still can hear that stupid train sound sometimes in my sleep. LOL

TheMule, That would be nice. It gives us something to look forward to. I like Community Stadium in Reidsville, it's flat, and it's cleared off, nicely, and it doesn't feel like there's a river or creek near by it.
We have a nice stadium, too. It's in town but in a fairly large undeveloped area that's mostly school property. It located in the edge of the woods near quite a bit of moving water. When the temperature gets below forty degrees the dampness seems to comes through your clothes. That's the biggest complaint from visitors.

TheKidd12, I got no doubt that your family knows they got a good, solid responsible man to look after them. I can even tell that by reading your posts. I think your Father knows it, too.

As usual classy sir...

Made my day. Thank you.

How SC handled it differed from place to place. Clover shut down for 2 weeks Bc Gaffney had a positive case. Other places only shut down when they had multiple cases. Looks like we won’t get a chance to try to contact trace and play with whoever is left. You get a case. Your done for 14 days.
Also hearing more and more that next week Governor will be shutting the state down more when he executive order ends on the 8th. Idk how that will affect sports. Nor do I know this to be true. Just something I keep hearing. But I think the NCHSAA will continue to try to play until the Governor won’t allow it.

Executive order 184 is through January 31st

I don’t claim to know exactly what Executive Order 184 is. But if I was wrong I apologize. I was just passing on gossip I guess.

I just looked it up. Executive Order 184 is effective till the end of the month. But it deals with evictions. The modified stay at home order that is currently in place expires next Friday best I can tell.

Que Tucker is Roy Cooper's big lap dog. If he decides he does not want it played, it will not be played.
