(3) Washington County
(4) East Carteret
(5) Vance Charter
Top 5 West Seeds:
(1) East Surry
(2) Avery County
(3) Murphy
(4) Union Academy
(5) Albemarle
Yeah they are the better team. We played as good of a game as we could play 2 years ago in the conference tournament championship and lost by 1. That's what I have been telling people bout the WHC it's very competitive. The two interior girls for avery would have to play lights out to make a deep playoff push good teams will limit Nelson in her scoring
I don't know bout Daniel's but I know Franklin is a gamer and has started last 3 years for avery. She knocked down 3s and got to the free throw line 10 times against mh and 7 times against Mitchell. That will be the key players that have to step up
Which is a joke. The 32 best ranked teams should be seeded in that order. Avery got punished for playing in a tough split conference last year and now Allegheny will get punished this year. And Ma a 9 seed give me a break
Win your conference you deserve a top seed. Maxpreps doesn’t consider head to head so in its current form Cherokee who got blasted by Murphy twice would be ranked ahead of them. No system is perfect and outside of maxpreps not considering head to head I like this current format after seeing how the seeds played out.
Will say the only item I don’t like after going through it is the amount of conf teams would have to play each other in the first two rounds but not sure how you would get around that
That's why I say put best 32 teams in order and weed out the weaker teams would make better final 8 and final 4 games
Who would determine those 32 teams? Max preps that doesn’t take head to head into account? Sorry the grind of a conference is tough if that was the way of the seeding take out conferences and conf tournaments all together because they are of no benefit. Then the SOS becomes subjective. In regards to this max prep rankings sorry you cannot be a top 5 team and lose by 16 and 30
Mount Airy has 2 conference games left, Bishop on Tuesday and East Surry Friday. They also have a makeup nonconference game Wednesday, 2A Surry Central. They beat Bishop by 10 Lost to East Surry by 3 and beat Surry Central by 1 in OT all in their 1st game & SC is in 2nd place in their 2A conference. Going to be a tuff week and some really good NWC Conference Championship games. Looking at the NWC standings Points for and against and Mount Airy will have to play with few mistakes and at their best or they could lose a game or 2. Both conference games are away and nonconference game @ home.

First of all let me give you some insight. Franklin did not play in both of those games and the ashe co game they lost by 13. Ashe with won by 18 Cloudland with won by 10 mh without lost by 37 with lost by 8. Big differences and losses were on road. Not to mention cloudland number 3 1a ranked team in Tenn mh number 1 2a team in nc also when you have no depth the best interior player means everything. Avery is disfunctional without Franklin cause she is leader of the team!!
I hope everybody comes in to Avery thinking they suck like they did two years ago they r in for a rude awakening
Lol wasn’t speaking of Avery in that situation but another good point. Albemarle has been done at least 2 of their top players since January. It’s tough but that’s all part of being subjective correct?
The bottom line we can all agree there is no perfect system. I like the format this year even with the MP better than back when they had the pods. Reward conf champs seed them out seed out remaining teams roll the ball out and let’s play

I’m excited I think there are a number of really good teams. I think we will see some great games all the way to state this year. That east west line still interests me . Looking forward in the coming days/weeks how that plays out
It will because one of the bottom east teams would get knocked out. New playoff seeding rules there are no more regions and the east west is not set until after the 64 teams are selected.
Just mix all the teams like the lottery lol. Would definitely be march madness then. If Allegheny is 17 seed want be easy out. Avery might have to play them in 2nd round. Whoever wins 1a girls definitely deserves it. At least Avery got a final 4 banner the farthest any boys or girls team has made it in the schools 53 year history
What I was thinking earlier that if you are above .500 and you are the highest 1a team in a split conference then you at seeded 1-8 as a conference champ
I have some problems with the adjusted Max Preps rankings. No one can tell what the formula is. The Mtn. Heritage boys have pretty much blown out everyone for 16 games in a row and last weeks adjusted Max Preps rankings had them at 18 in 2A. Sorry we are nowhere hear that no matter how you look at it. I will admit our conference is down but we are gonna be 3 games short on our season at least and can not get the better teams in WNC to give us a game even if they have an opening late next week. Cannot control our conference games but I can assure everyone Heritage is not #18 in the state in 2A. Doubt we will move up anymore with 1 conference game left and the conference tourney only. If anyone in WNC has an opening and would like to play near the end of the week, please contact MH.
We haven’t moved since January lol. Max preps doesn’t count head to head either which makes 0 sense. I have just settled on the no system is perfect overall I like this process better than the old one with pods and coin flips. Roll the ball out and play.
Yeah that is unfortunate. I watched half of boys game other night you guys are great. You got size good shooters and are very physical and athletic. Just play with a chip on your shoulder and go out and make the WHC proud in the playoffs
Oh yeah Albemarle and ua are no joke. You only have 1 loss for a reason. And I am pretty sure that ua led Murphy for much of that game last year. Like you say roll the ball and play lol
Yeah the 1a girls will be brutal survival of the fittest and some luck as well. A good draw will also help if their is a good draw lol
1a girls on the west side is the playoffs in my opinion. If you make it out of the West you need a ring just for that
Yeah that's true I think you will be playing ua in the 3rd round. Also Mitchell that we might have to play in 2nd round is good team. They hit 8 3 pointers last time we played them. We went on a 14-0 run in the 4th. It was close before that. Also you beat gsd twice but competitive both games. It's hard to beat a good conference opponent 3 or 4 times in one season. Please tell me Winston Salem prep is not good. Looking at last 5 times in our team last year and this year would kill those teams. I don't like all the conference matchups in the 2nd round. I like the different conference matchups. I think if Murphy wins their conference tourney and we lose they will be a 2seed. I think the 3,4, and 5 seeds would have better draw than 1 or 2. But my pride wants Avery to win conference tournament and beat mh for first time in 8 years
Surry central has been sucking it up here lately.
If Bishop got sent East. I would not be surprised see them make the state championship game.

Oh yeah most definitely I don’t think they pull the final adjusted rankings until the day of seeding so a lot of movement could still be made up until that point.
Yeah if east plays their worst game like one guy said yesterday lol. They actually played a tough opponent that's why last game was close
Also bishop going to the state after going east would speak wonders on how tough the west is
MA is still a very credible opponent the moment you sleep on them is the moment your team will get beat.
