I thought I make a special thread for this game. In boys game 14-1 Lake Norman vs 14-2 Mooresville. Max Preps has Lake Norman ranked 1 in 4A and Mooresville ranked 7. Game will be played at Lake Norman on 1/22 unless bad weather causes the game to moved. Which as of now I don’t see anything bad coming in. Game time at 7:30. Gym will be packed and probably standing room only. Talk about a huge rivalry. I dare say this will be game of the week. Should be a classic.

Going to be there for sure. Actually will be there for all 4 games. Home side, Lower right hand corner, second row. Reserved seating for my daughter (LN Teacher) and myself.

Sorry for for not reporting earlier. Tre McKinnon had 31, Trent Spainhour 26, both guards Nick Arnold and Josh Yates had 15 .
Coach Hodges half time talk was just 90 seconds long. Beat Mooresville to the boards and step it up on defense.
The 3rd quarter was like nothing I have seen before, except the girls game where the score was 72 to 13 at the half. LN out scored Mooresville 30 to 10.
Mooresville has some really good players, great shooters, play hard and deserving of their outstanding record.

When those guys play defense like they did last night, especially the 3rd qt, OMG.

The 3rd quarter was like nothing I have seen before, except the girls game where the score was 72 to 13 at the half. LN out scored Mooresville 30 to 10.
Mooresville has some really good players, great shooters, play hard and deserving of their outstanding record.

The gym was a packed house, standing room only, both sides. And for such a rivalry, I do not remember not even one bush league type action.
When Mooresville tried to pack the box, Yates and Mckinnon just lite the 3's up. Arnold is as good a floor general as I have seen and does not realize he is only 5'10 or 5'11. Spainhour had 8 blocks and many more altered shots. Best total game I have seen him play.

The girls game was, as the score indicated, was all Lake Norman from the first SECOND. They started that smothering pressure defense and Mooresville could not get the ball to half court and if they did it was LN going for a lay up by the time Mooresville made it to the 3 point line.
After haft time the starters had set back and was not hitting the 3's they routinely make, so the coach went to the second 5 and while they were not hard pressing any longer, the second team just kept beat down going until the coach all but said stop playing with any aggression. Other wise they would have score well over a hundred points.
Mooresville girls are no where nearly as good as the Mooresville boys but against anybody else they are not that bad a team. But the Lady Wildcats were on a mission to make a statement. I do not know where it came from, or what the source of the motivation, but I heard about it during the jv games.
