I know absolutely nothing about Owen and Madison…but I was surprised to see that Madison beat Owen last night. That must be one heck of a rivalry.
Can’t help but chuckle….i actually tuned into their football game in the fall…I think it was a Saturday afternoon game….and I was glued….that was a nail biter that went to the wire with Madison pulling it out at the end.
Good luck to both teams moving forward….and I hope it’s not a first round game against Reidsville!…as it has been for the last 3 years. 🫵
I plan on going to this game..any braves fans making the long trip? From highlights I have seen online there gym looks tiny. Go Lady Braves!

That guard would have been a great player on the football team but didn’t play this year. Hopefully next year. I’m shocked they lost to Madison last night
Gotta stay undefeated to hope for the 1 seed. Beating Reynolds 2 (or 3) times won't be easy.

I'm high on the Lady Titans. I've only seen them play once, but they impressed me with the beat down they put on a good South Caldwell team. I hope if both they and Freedom can get at least a couple of home playoff doubleheaders in the playoffs we can go into the new conference with some hoops excitement built up and it will be like old times.

It is small and the community shows up early and for every game!!! Better get there early if you go the crowds are big time at Cherokee basketball games it's crazy, but awesome great gameday atmosphere for basketball
WSC has a tiny gym. WSC is probably the strongest team in the state with their starting 5 being D1 athletes, but I’m pulling for Cherokee. Love watching them play!
If they don't cancel it Tuesday I'm looking forward to checking out McDowell @ Reynolds. I like our girls chances but they will need to play well. The boys game is a toss up. Reynolds is one of the few teams who can guard our big straight up.

I didn't make it to the game, was hoping to watch but nfhs sucks, last I seen Cherokee was down 14 with 30 seconds left
Cherokee lost by about 15. My observations of the game...braves started off really slow scoring wise started the game in like a one three one zone it looked like which was terrible and all it did was leave wsc open for threes...luckily they didn't stay in it very long at all.....they missed a bunch of free throws tonight that would have kept the game much closer...great effort by the braves tonight though I love the way they play till final whistle whether they r up by 50 or down by 10. David just couldn't beat Goliath tonight ...wsc had two players number 3 and number 4 that would score at will vs most teams....braves unfortunately didn't box out anyone tonight and seemed like they hardly ever got a rebound. I know wsc averaged about 8 inches taller across the board so they would own the boards regardless but we didn't box out anyone. Girls also looked winded quicker than normal. I haven't seen them play since last year though...last year they never looked tired at all when I saw them play. Hope new coach hasn't been going soft on em or something. But then again I didn't see them play a team as good as wsc last year either. Will be interesting to see how Bishop plays vs wsc later in the season as a comparison. Imo I dont know why four killer was on the bench so long in second half....imo go down swinging with your best players on the court...and it was concerning that coach imo would wait too long to call timeouts when wsc went on longer runs. Imo she should have called timeouts sooner before the runs got out of hand and spaced them out more to give girls better rest. Cherokee's bench doesn't appear to be as deep as last year imo either which is concerning and another reason I think coach should have spaced out her timeouts instead of subbing. Hard to judge them though when they were playing the ridiculous wsc all star team with numerous 6'3 6'4 players on it. WSC bench chants D up every second when they are on the bench...it's annoying as crap as a fan to listen to but hey I guess the bench warmers need something to do to feel like there contributing. Final thought I actually think last year's Cherokee team would have put up a better fight than tonights squad did. And boy I'm glad the sisters moved back from OK. All that said Bishop is the only team with a chance to beat them the rest of the year but the NC State commit will have to be on fire to do it. Cherokee is still very fun team to watch play and there effort level is always phenomenal. Go Lady Braves I doubt any other 1a school would have stayed within 10 to 15 against this team of giants like you all did tonight. Wish I lived closer to watch them more. Looking forward to watching them at Wake Forest again in a few weeks.

Good question. Right now it depends on how many kids continue playing. Last year at any given time you would have 8-9 underclassmen on the field. Owen only had 3 seniors last year. They were really young. There is some talent. If they stay and play they could turn it around fairly quickly. If they sit out or transfer who knows
Thanks for the update. Most schools wouldn’t even play WSC, especially a 1A school. Kudos to Cherokee for accepting the challenge.
I think the conference being as bad as it is this year plays a part as well, they're to used to just cruising all game, the second best team in the conference this year is hiwassee dam and Cherokee just beat them by forty the other night
Got to be honest, ACR isn’t really “down” they are just suffering from some major injuries. We lost our top 3 point shooter before the season even started with major knee injury, then we lose our starting point guard for 6 games in mid December and early January. She did play a few minutes last game against TCR, she probably will play Tuesday against McDowell but limited minutes. And finally another anticipated starter choose not to play this year and focus on another sport. ACR is relying a lot on sophomores and freshmen. I think McDowell is the team to beat easily in the MAC.
I know I still count them since they play every year and HD done beat every team in the the big smoky
So your inventing your own conference? FYI, HD is 2nd in the LSMC as they lost to Highlands.
