Will be a great game. EDGE WC IMHO as they return their QB and the majority of their team. Indy will be very good also. The Indy/Hough playoff game really soured me on Indy. Think Indy's end of season schedule hurt them in the playoffs. The Indy RB is special. WC defense could/should be better this year and that's saying a lot as they were dominate this season. Getting Littlejohn back, adding Porter and those LBS? This could be a very special season at WC. After the Hough loss they only allowed 50 points in 9 games with 4 shutouts. Sans Hough next max score was Hickory with 20 on the road. Hickory avg, close to 60 on the year too.
Sure Btango remembers but WC won it all in 95, but were actually better in 96 and 97 though the didnt win it all. SO we dont know how other teams will look. Just like WC surprised in 24 someone will surprise in 8A. WC is 8A title favorite. Indy is not a favorite in 7A at all.

Definitely pulling for West Charlotte in this matchup. Indy coaches trying to close the gap by any means necessary. You would think that there are enough kids in Mecklenburg that a Charlotte school doesn’t have to tamper with kids two counties away. A coach selling lies, making promises that no one can guarantee, and risking a kids eligibility as a senior is shameful in my opinion but carry on 😊
Recruiting and transfer portal is happening everywhere. Coaches are even fighting for transfer kids who will be backups at their school where they would start at the school they take them from. Is absolutely out of control.
Really like the new SC rule. One penalty free transfer then must sit out set number of days/games. This is regardless of residency. Then rising SRs have 22 days regardless if they transfer in 26-27. Transfers are gonna happen and happen at most HS. The issue is recruiting but its hard to prove that in most cases. Having a great program is the best recruiting tool IMHO.
I am a firm believer that actual high school coaches should not be “actively” involved in recruiting another school’s athletes. I am pretty lenient when it comes to families moving into a district. I even understand kids, trainers, and others that support programs making suggestions to parents. When high school coaches that are on staff are the ones on the phone, making promises, and “hosting visits” that’s problematic. Those coaches are looking out for their program and not the kid.
It can be proved its whether someone wants to go through the process of proving it. Phone and electronic records/messages never die.
When coaches are meeting with parents of kids who attend other schools, that should be easy to prove. But who is actually looking? No one. CMS AD turned out to be all talk when it came to "cleaning things up."
DISAGREE. CMS has done well. Parents and trainers do the majority of recruiting. sometimes they don't even push their school but what they think is best for the child. Most coaches train in some sort of way so its sticky what's recruiting and what's best for the child. Once you say what school you are attending they should respect that.
AND players and parents who actually are educated on the current recruiting process/calendar for high school kids. Some high school coaches are knowingly taking advantage of those naive to the process. Colleges are looking to that college portal first and foremost to fill their roster spots.
Done well to not make themselves look bad, maybe. When the current leadership took over CMS athletics, they were all fire and brimstone. But after having several of the more 'prominent' programs have to forfeit seasons, it made it look like CMS had a recruiting problem....shocking, I know. So either clean it up, or stop finding stuff. If you think all the recruiting stuff stopped after that, I got some property behind the Great Wall for you - on the good side!

No one said the recruiting stuff stopped. Its like holding in a football game. You could possibly call it on every play if you wanted to. CMS AD has done a good job IMHO on it. CMS Athletics cant stop legit moves. CMS can only scrutinize to a certain extent w/o being biased against certain schools and parents. That's why I like the SC rule. One free transfer and SRs sit out 22 days starting in 2026. That way you can stay or move once. After that you are done. Makes it easy to understand, and minimizes recruiting to an extent.
So turning a blind eye to it = done well? I'm assuming the school you pull for is getting transfers in?
Every program in Charlotte gets new guys. Some get more than others. Some are scrutinized more than others. I have yet to see one win a bunch of Championships because of new guys. That formula is not as successful, as some believe. Charlotte should go to open enrollment or the one time transfer, and keep it moving.

They are not turning a blind eye. They already have a snitch line, verify addresses starting with 9th grade, have an academic/athletic monitor. If a child makes a legal move what are they supposed to do? EVERY CMS school gets transfers in some type of way. What are the teams to do turn them around? Trainers/fans/parents do more recruiting than anything. How do we police that? Instead of saying blind eye make suggestions. Thats why SC went to one free as there are so many exceptions and too hard to police.
Exactly. IMHO MC would have had more ships if they hadn't gone the transfer QB route. Indy lost their streak with a transfer QB, and transfer RB on one of their best teams in 07. Chambers dominated with home grown and some transfers, but they didn't get a ship with a transfer QB. Grimsley dominates with transfers and wins ships, Hough gets transfers and doesn't win ships. You are 100% correct there is no set formula. But one thing is certain. Most ship teams are largely based on 4 year guys and guys that have been at the school since 9th grade.
-Now lets talk band, academic, cheer, science Olympiad transfers. We should have the same energy on those too. But they wont mention those.
I am directly referring to head coaches meeting with families that attend other CMS schools. If you are ok with that, you would be part of the problem. A snitch line is supposed to solve these problems? Please. That is CYA and nothing more.
Again, the county AD came in threatening jobs and whatever else she could. Yet this is still happening. But, like you said, they are doing a good job.
I am guessing on the academic, band, cheer, and Science Olympiad message boards that convo is happening. IDK, I haven't checked on those in a while. I thought this was a board about NC HS football.
Exactly. You don know or care. Just football. CMS nor any school system cant put undue resources on one issue and not potentially others.

SMH, not you personally. People in general don't care about transfers or children changing schools just for football and basketball mainly. Thats what im saying. I should all to me.
You're absolutely right: without consistent enforcement or a major shift in policy like truly embracing open enrollment or strictly following the one-time transfer rule, it'll stay business as usual. Everyone knows the game, and as long as there's no real accountability, schools (and families) will keep finding creative ways to get where they want to be. Some play it quiet, others don’t even try to hide it. I just don't see it changing anytime soon.
