Week 10 - Big South 3A/2A updates

Good analysis. Thanks Sasha. Now go study the school sizes and see if we are going to meet up with the Cleveland County Crampers again.

Still too close to call - even if this year's ADMs are the same as last year's, there are too many bubble teams in the upper half to determine a cutoff between big and small. Odds are 50/50. Sorry.

Ashbrook's remaining schedule may hurt us. ...I guess I'm a huskies fan now

Tough luck being in the SMAC this year with Crest and Shelby because no matter what happens Kings Mountain will finish third. The way they have revised the rules regarding teams from split conferences, Kings Mountain will be seeded as a 3 seed.

(h) Seeding:
(1) Seed all #1s by 10-game winning percentage. Conference champions tied for first will be seeded as number ones if they are going into different subdivisions (A or AA).
(2) If school finishes first in its part of a classification in a split conference, it is seeded as a number one and not actually where it finished overall in the conference.

(3) A teams that is second in a split conference must finish second in the overall conference standings to be seeded second. If the second team in a split conference finishes in third place in the overall standings, it will be seeded third. (Revised)
(4) Seed all #2s by 10-game winning percentage.
(5) Seed all #3s by 10-game winning percentage.
(6) Seed all other qualifying teams based only on their 10 game winning percentage, regardless of conference finish.

Crest added two people to the roster, not my choice. But they did anyway. Now those two are our QB and the other is on defense. Now, I want you to show me evidence where had those two not joined would South Point had won? Our defense stopped you point blank last year. Both times, was it all because of Ramsuer? Please....this year is no different. Show me that Peeler couldn't win show me that our defense wouldn't have stopped you.

The analysis I've seen has Crest big 3A.

You just broke RR73's heart. He wants a rematch.

I am not too sure about that at the moment Sasha for this year. I am man enough to admit that Crest is definitely the better team this year and should go all the way to another title. Yes, if all the stars lined up just right, we definitely could win a rematch but the odds are against it. I think for this year our better path to a state championship is to avoid the Crampers so that we can both be state champions! Then we will start over next year and take our shot at putting the earth back on its correct rotation.

But if we do see the Crampers again this year, I assure you SP will not make it easy for them. The Vegas early line on the cramping is +/- 4 if there is a rematch.

A projected round one (before last week's games). Several of the teams lost, so this is going to shake up a lot over the next 2 weeks. This one has Crest in small 3A.
Projected 3A WEST Playoff Bracket

#1 Freedom (10-1-0) vs #16 Burns (5-5-0)
#2 Crest (11-0-0) vs #15 North Buncombe (5-6-0)
#3 West Rowan (10-1-0) vs #14 Jesse Carson (6-5-0)
#4 South Point (9-2-0) vs #13 East Gaston (6-5-0)
#5 Pisgah (8-3-0) vs #12 North Henderson (7-4-0)
#6 Piedmont (8-3-0) vs #11 West Henderson (7-4-0)
#7 Forestview (7-4-0) vs #10 Hibriten (7-4-0)
#8 Concord (8-3-0) vs #9 Tuscola (8-3-0)

Curious to see what the new projected brackets are after this week's results are entered into the formula.

I know it's easy to complain when we don't do all of the work. I used to keep up with it to the minute for 3A years back. There's a couple of people that have just stopped doing it, and the couple of others that promote they do it, don't keep it very current....that tells me it must be somewhat of a quagmire.

Yep, it will be what it be....a week from Saturday.

I can't imagine what it's like to project brackets. It's a headache to figure out who the heck is going. I have an Excel spreadsheet and use the sort function and a pivot table to help me narrow things down and figure out the bubble. I generally don't start until the last two weeks of the season but started earlier and even added 7 more columns to accommodate the necessary data.

I've got the Seeding thing down, but the ADM thing and the Longitude and Latitude give be bad flashbacks to some of my least favorite math teachers.

You really do have problems sleeping at night don't you? I can't imagine even thinking about doing all that work just knowing that any stumblebum who can read will know just as much as you in two weeks if he bothers to pick up a newspaper.

Welcome to my world of insomnia. It's a way to maintain my skills in Excel and learn more about some of the functions (pivot tables, etc) for professional purposes.
