Week #1 in the Coastal 8 (2/26/2021)

All seven playing teams this spring are in action on the first week.

Croatan @ (3A) Jacksonville .... Croatan got a game for the Lejeune drop out. They will wish they hadnt. One of two huge blowouts to start the season, guess who gets drug

Pender @ East Carteret .... Might be a pretty good game considering. I call it a toss up

Richlands @ Heide Trask .... Richlands should take this one, if they dont they are in deep $h**

SWO @ Dixon .... The flip side of the first beat down game. AND if we dont we are in the same toilet at Richlands

Very intrigued to see how these teams come out and play. Such little time to adopt new schemes and players. Great thing at swo we play smash mouth football. Run the ball down your throats. So hopefully Dempsey has the boys fired up. Any new editions to the coaching staff this year????

Always good to be the underdog. Swo hasn't done much recently. Hopefully we can field a team this year

Went as expected, with a few little suprises.

Croatan had a lot better showin against Jville, better this year or Jville worse ?
'Richlands won but not as much as I thought
Havnt heard about Pender/East Carteret

SWO was, well SWO against Dixon. 3 Pass and 3 rushing TDs and a Pick 6. Orange Crush D shut the Bulldogs down. Dixon did have a drive going in the first but an int squished that. Off looked decent and D was dominant against the run and pass. It always gets chippy with these two as both teams got a warning on the extra activities on the field.

Moore looked good at QB, Hines had a great start at RB, along with 2 others. Mostly power I on the run plays. Passing was pretty good highlighted by a 70 Yard td on the second play of the game. We were far from perfect dropping the tater a few times but i dont think we turned it over any. D , as most always looked more in synch than the O to start the year.

The transfer back 25 only a sophomore, looked very good last night. The line looked huge and was moving defenders all over the field. Qb looks smooth like I knew he would. Most passes from a swo QB in awhile. If swo can become two dimensional, watch out.

Is the backs name Middlebrook ? Billy and Melvin are hard for me to understand sometimes. If Im not mistaken he caught a couple passes also. Recievers looked good also. There are a couple of possibilities for week 3, just waiting to make sure their conferences don't need COVID games.

SWO looked very good Friday night overall, couple of things to tweak. Bannerman and #44 Andrew Hines and #9 Tariq Sessoms all ran the ball well and #8, QB Isaac Moore had 3 TD passes in the first half, probably a record for SWO football for one half.

Bannerman, arrived early in the season. Seems to fix in just right with the kids. Only a sophomore, and hear his best sport is baseball. You can see the potential of this kid on both sides of the ball for awhile at swo. Seems to have gained the respect of his teammates, which is very hard to do coming in as the new kid at SWO.

Wow. Extremely sad news. I've heard since, unfortunately situation. Wanted to see him grown in the orange and black. Hope for the best, he was a good one..
