I just answered the question that REWhitley asked. I had to respond because according to him "we all will be waiting with baited breathe for your revelations." Notice I quoted that sentence. Maybe he can breathe now.
Would a retired former Thomasville football coach possibly become the coach? My apologies for getting this post off track. Congrats to both MA and UCA for a state title and now back to the wonderful news of UCA starting a football team. Both are moving up and will chart their own destiny in both sports. Back to football!
Wouldn't be a bad hire if willing to come out of retirement and build a cracker jack staff. Serious question though. If they add football how will they decide to give the golden "lottery" ticket to since they are open to add art, auto body, STEM, wrestling, other sports and now football students with limited spots.Would a retired former Thomasville football coach possibly become the coach?
At the risk of getting “off topic”, can’t help but point out one fact. I can’t find Thomasville’s wrestling record, but the combined records of the football, volleyball and men’s basketball teams was 17-40. With no women’s basketball program. Guess that grand social experiment isn’t working all that well.Would a retired former Thomasville football coach possibly become the coach?
Does any of the 1A/2A Central Carolina Conference teams have wrestling, if so I can not find them on the NC conferences with wrestling teams ? I may be missing too because I don't see the 1A/2A Central Carolina Conference teams listed. At the risk of getting “off topic”, can’t help but point out one fact. So, any former Thomasville coaches would be a prime hire for area programs. Ferguson has proven that at Ledford and there are a couple of really good former wrestling coaches that would help anyone.
Okay, back to Uwharrie football.
Ok it is listed as 2A in the wrestling page. Looks like Salisbury is the only team that wrestled a full season this year if I am reading it right. Sorry I just realized this was not the wrestling form. Thanks TD. All those schools had teams and I believe they all completed the season. But that’s the problem with relying on MaxPreps. Appears that Salisbury is the only school to submit results. That’s what MaxPreps relies on and if schools fail to do so (and accurately), the information is garbage. Seen a lot of incorrect scores on that site.Ok it is listed as 2A in the wrestling page. Wrestling results go into Track wrestling and use Ranked Wrestling as the primary source for records and rankings. All teams had a full season. S Davidson won the CCC going 34-3 overall and 6-0 in the CCC. The Thomasville team went 2-22 this year I believe but did have one kid place in states. Tville could have returned 22 kids but the kids just didn't come back out after losing the HC and most of his staff to other schools. All other sports use maxpreps. WD was the girls CCC winner with SD 2nd.Thanks TD. All those schools had teams and I believe they all completed the season. But that’s the problem with relying on MaxPreps. Thanks WOW. And I agree completely about the effect of losing some really good coaches. So that runs the Bulldogs’ collective sports record to 19-62. And three of those four sports were those that had traditionally been very successful at Thomasville.Wrestling results go into Track wrestling and use Ranked Wrestling as the primary source for records and rankings. Several schools are now benefiting from those coaches/teachers. SD, WD, Asheboro, Ledford, and possibly others have new head coaches or assistants that were all at THS the last many years. Anyways, sometimes you get what you ask for in life. People draw a line in the sand and will take their skills, knowledge and experience elsewhere and beat that tail. Thanks WOW. Lack of interest at the middle school crept up to the high school. Last season they barely had enough girls for a team and the highest scoring game was like 20 points. MS barely had a team this year from what I heard. How does this happen?
Do you softball and baseball?Lack of interest at the middle school crept up to the high school. Last season they barely had enough girls for a team and the highest scoring game was like 20 points. MS barely had a team this year from what I heard.
They have both. The baseball team was decent last year and made the playoffs, may have played MA. The softball team barely fields a team and has not pitching or catching and just gets beat real bad every game. That new league is going to be rough on all the Bulldog secondary sports teams. The better programs of the past are on the verge of crashing also (football, basketball and wrestling). Sorry, back to UCA football!Do you softball and baseball?
There’s some resurgence for girls’ basketball at the rec level if the middle school will keep it going. The heyday of Thomasville girls basketball was when AAU was strong. That imploded mostly due to lack of character among some of the coaches. How does this happen?
There was a story in the Hickory Record a few years ago about how many schools couldn't field a JV girls team around here and I think this area is something of a hotbed of girls hoops. For a while there was a serious problem with participation in all sports, but that seems to have gotten a little better recently. Freedom had to drop its lacrosse team a few years ago for instance and hasn't fielded one since, but participation in wresting and baseball seems better. I think a lot of things are going on here, but one thing is that kids have more options for something to do than we did once upon a time and so they do things on their computer as opposed to getting involved in leagues. How does this happen?
