it doesn't, they would've had to have dropped below Northampton County (490) for it make any difference
I know one team that isn't worried about the 1a playoffs lol! No Murphy to worry about anymore, Albemarle is but a shell of it's former self, ditto for Plymouth. Congrats bk! Except for Rosman, your boys will face absolutely no resistance on their way to another 1a title! Just the way you always wanted it to be! You must be on cloud nine.
I can't agree with you on the part about Plymouth nole fan, the Vikings are still pretty damn good. No, they aren't as good as they were last year but neither is Robbinsville.
I don't get how you guys think Murphy will be big ... I haven't looked at the corrected ADMs, but with the 1st bunch of numbers they were exactly at midpoint.
I see more small schools dropping out than larger schools. My reasoning is that the small schools that have "opted out" have done so because they did not want to spend the money to travel (long distances sometimes) to play a much higher seed in a one-sided game. Larger schools have larger athletic budgets and don't really have to worry about wasting funds on a losing playoff game.

True but Robbinsville is closer to what they were last year than Plymouth is. Plymouth lost 62-8 (I think that was the score) to a 1a conference opponent who isn't really that good. When was the last time Plymouth lost to an eastern 1a team before this season? Robbinsville hasn't lost to a 1a school (big or small) in two years. Robbinsville has a cakewalk other than Rosman, who is pretty good for the first time in forever. Even last year's Plymouth team was nowhere near as good as the two Plymouth teams that Murphy faced. Not even close.
Really all hypothetical right now until it all plays out. Personally 1AA is fine with me different teams and challenges would be good for the team .
Last year Lakewood was the biggest 1A school at 512 so unless the cut off is much less then that this year Murphy is still 1A
Plymouth's two losses have both been to 2A schools. 40-7 to 8-2 Northeastern and 35-27 to 6-4 Washington. They did beat a conference team (Perquimans) 62-8, and you might have seen that reported backward.
LabaR, so you know that it is not about money - really? I have heard some folks in Rville administration state that schools don't want to waste travel money on a losing game. Even if schools split the gate - how many fans are going to travel 4 or 5 hours if their team has a 3-7 record or worst?? I do know that the traveling team gets compensation from the home team, and I believe that is regardless of what the gate is. I know the pod system was suppose to minimize the long travel, but it still happens. I remember a few years back, Rville lost money on a early playoff home game because the visiting team had two nights and three days of hotel and meal expenses, and a chartered bus - and brought only a handful of paying spectators.
State giving money to teams??? I'm lookin' outside for those flying pigs.
Yep that's the one I saw. Didn't know it was backwards but that makes sense. I was thinking "how in the world did THAT happen?" when I saw that score lol. I stand corrected on Plymouth but time will tell if they are as strong as some of their other recent teams.
Just a couple questions for those that might know?
When do teams have to let the NCHSAA know that they want to "opt-out" of the playoffs?
Where can I find a list of teams that chose not to be a part of this year's playoffs?

If I recall correctly (and that is a big IF) it seems like the brackets come out by midday Saturday and then a short time later that same day there is a finalized bracket ... so I always assumed that after teams see their seeding and opponent they have a (very short - maybe 2 or 3 hours) timeframe to opt out. This is all just vague recollections and assumptions on my part.
