Ain't that the truth, I didn't care for bye weeks when I was a player cause practice was a destruction derby for 5 days haha. Hopefully they work on sharpening up a few things and be good and steady nxt week.
Imagine an open date after a loss and a tie the two previous weeks <shudder>
Coach Pursley has his ducks in a row tho and definitely seems to know what he's doing. I'm sure he's old school in a lot of ways but with him having coaching experience in college he knows how to keep boys healthy throughout the year during practice. He also played for App State so he might have lived down east for years but he's been a Mountaineer for decades haha
I don't know why Pisgah and Tuscola have the same open week.Need to change that.Some of us like the idea of checking out the other Haywood County team when we're not playing.
If I'm not mistaken Tuscola will be the smallest 3A school in the state next year, while Pisgah will be the largest 2A school. Sucks for us. Great for them. Gotta be a line somewhere I suppose.
Honestly 2A is probably better than small the 3A with the exception of maybe South Point and Havelock. 3AA is whole other animal though.
If you are worth a crap you are gonna be third round every year in 2A. But in 3A it's five rounds of bloody fist fights every year. Talent may be the same at the top of the division, but NO DOUBT it's better top to bottom in 3A.
I was referring to the difference in the 3A and 3AA. It is usually a big difference every year.
Tuscola needs to improve on defense and needs to tackle better. Tackling seems to be on a steady decline in high school as I see so many kids going high time after time. A team that tackles well can make up for other weaknesses they may have.
It is nice to see the WNCAC appear to finally have a strong balance of teams. This conference has been pretty mediocre for several years with Franklin and then everyone else several notches below them. I hate to see this conference get busted up after this year.

HS football is following the national trend of less hitting in practice during the week. With all the summer workouts allowed, there is still no line play and no hitting. The compacted pre-season practice in August barely gives you enough time before scrimmages crank up. Then the season is on you and you might go full pads one day per week and even then most schools are not practicing full tilt.
The old school Neanderthals will lament it and talk about wussification but unfortunately, this is trend that isn't going to change unless everyone wants to start following soccer and lacrosse.
I'm just glad there are still kids playing football period. ESPN (liberal news with sports) and other media are all about "concussions" nowa days which terrifies all these mommas to put their kids in soft sports like soccer in place of football. Such a shame. Football teaches you sooo much more than just how to run, catch, and throw a pigskin.

Medical Staffs and trainers just have to pass the word CONCUSSION out like candy now any time a kid gets a headache because they are afraid of going to court...
