What’s the deal with all the coaching changes are they quitting being fired thoughts?
The successful coaches are loyal to the kids, true leaders that builds leaders. They get the most out of the kids. Other coaches that are not those type of leaders tend to turnover positions more. Of coarse there are other reasons kind like promotion’s to better programs, personal issues. I know two coaches around here pretty good and they both are loved by the kids and are loyal to the kids.
I agree, but doesn’t coaches take positions knowing what their salaries are?I think it's way more complicated and hairy than that, and a case by case basis. Schools and communities have expectations and budgets and processes to manage those budets, also alot of coaches have mouths to feed. You're not going to struggle to pay bills because "loyalty" to kids, then that means you're not really loyal to your family or your own kids.
And other times(also happens often) it's not a good fit.

Family should be first. I’m just telling you the trait’s of a great coach. We've made everything in this country about money so let's stop with expecting anyone to do anything for the love or for the kids. The people that do it are comendable but don't get mad when they put themselves and their family first.
Travel baseball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse and most 7 on 7 football, all being paid. We've made everything in this country about money so let's stop with expecting anyone to do anything for the love or for the kids. That’s not what happened but okay. Coach Padgett was planning on coming back to Swo. They filled the job knowing he was planning to return. Coach Barnes was going to fill in till Coach Padgett return. They didn’t want that so you got what you got now. How they didn’t have a job for the GOAT I don’t know. You seen how they did Phil Padget. He retired from teaching and they offered him 1k to coach the team. He left, don't blame him one bit...
I know my son haven’t been at Wallace a month he absolutely loves Coach Mott alreadyThe Kevin Mottsingers and Battle Holleys are a rare breed. Duplin County is blessed to have 2 great coaches who are well loved by players, co workers and the communities in which they serve.

Money must be low and they are moving on to better places and better pay(SC). My thoughts. They work too hard and not enough on the table to match their work ethicWhat’s the deal with all the coaching changes are they quitting being fired thoughts?
Becoming a teacher/coach is never about the money. It's always about the impact you can have on kids. But if you haven't experienced dealing with over the top parents living through thier kids, 60 hour weeks, low pay, no appreciation for your efforts to build character and discipline in a society mostly void of it now, and being the dad for so many kids whose own don't show, missing your own kids events for everyone else, etc. There are way more coaches that do it for the right reasons than those who don't. Teaching 21 years check to check sucks. At some point you gotta do what's best for your family. I don't blame them at all, maybe a little when the timing sucks but that's life.I think it's way more complicated and hairy than that, and a case by case basis. Obviously you're not a teacher then. I've never met one who went into that profession with any intention of getting rich. It is completely different than most occupations. YES, Teachers should be paid way more then they are. I would still be in it if I were compensated appropriately. That 15-30 band in pay SUCKS!!!Everything is about money. Stop holding teachers and coaches to a different standard.
It's time to start paying people what they deserve.
If you don't think everything is about money then stop crying over gas prices and everything else.
Agree 100 %. My Father was a teacher and we had to farm. When my daughter got her very first check, she called me crying, literally crying. She made more net, take home pay to spend from babysitting.Of course they don't go in with the intentions of getting rich, but they sure are leaving it in droves.
A living wage is too much to ask for in this country.
Here is that 15-25 range he speaks of. 10 years of employment in your prime and no increase in pay.Obviously you're not a teacher then. Don’t have to be very perceptive to understand that the legislature wants teachers to work for a few years, then leave to minimize their impact on the retirement system. For teachers and other local government employees, the promise was always that the benefits make up for the fact that you won’t make any money during your career. Another intentional step in the privatization and for profit plan to replace public education. And no, not a knock on capitalism. Just awareness that not everything should be for sale. Religion should be not for profit. And so should education. Here is that 15-25 range he speaks of. 10 years of employment in your prime and no increase in pay.

Yeah I guess that’s why after he retired. He started coaching at Jacksonville by the way went to state that year. Jacksonville high school probably had at least 50 kids with ankle monitors in the entire school. So what do you think the recipe for success is there? Every Coach in the country deal with the same issues. Some make excuses Some make adjustments. Coach Padgett evolved into a great coach because of the guys he had around him.I remember Coach Phil Padgett telling me right before he retired that the kids have changed and the parents are even worse. No longer are the kids loyal to the school and give 110% for their team and the community, but most think they are better than they are and look out for themselves. He always thought that this was the biggest recipe for failure for the player.
