to only the "cocky" SWO fans (which is probably at least half of them) : i recall a time last year and the year before when several of the SWO fans were as cocky as ever. i tried to tell you guys that when Padgett retired that you would fall real hard. that you would get a taste of what some of these other schools have had to go through. i tried to tell you that some of THE best 2A teams i had ever seen were the Clinton Darkhorses of the late 1990's. i told you that never in my wildest dreams did i think the Horses would fall from being one of the elite football programs in the state to being a below average team. but guess what, they did! after the great Bob Lewis retired the greatness that their program had slowly trickled away. even with all that talent which Clinton has always had, they still fell because a great coach is simply priceless. you SWO fans implied that because of the great SWO coaching family, and because of the talent "factory" that is called SWO, that someone would simply pick up where Padgett left off. WRONG ANSWER!!! there arent many "great" football coaches around. Lewis and Padgett are two of only a very small group of truly great high school football coaches in North Carolina. like i told you SWO fans before, you almost never just keep on keeping on when you lose a coach of the caliber of Padgett. i hate, no LOVE to say i told you so.
