TOP 5 WEST 11/4

Todd was on special teams on that 09 team. Craddock jokes people give him a surprised look when they find out Todd didn't start as a sophomore. I think it turned out well. Craddock said he and coach Robinson are actually friends he said that in a interview a few weeks ago prior to the Havelock game.
I think that just says how much talent Tarboro had. That Lincolnton Tarboro game in 2011 was one of the best championship games I've seen.

Since the Rams' quarterback operates with a more traditional college-style approach, which emphasizes a balanced attack. By getting everyone involved in the passing game, the Rams can stretch the field and keep defenses guessing. This not only opens up opportunities for their receivers but also gives the QB the chance to utilize his running skills strategically, rather than as a primary focus. This versatility can lead to greater success, as evidenced by their ability to maintain offensive momentum in various game situations.
Except for my airy with the exception of the busted play to start the game. Starmount had 56 yards I believe except for that. Not spreading it around. Going down to live another day was more like it

Starmount had plenty of chances with good field position in first quarter but couldn't move the ball. Poor play calling and good defense for Mt Airy. If the big man for Mt Airy is healthy not running up the middle

Being there you should have seen a brace on his knee and he was limited on running that game but played anyways.

Can Bessemer City make some noise? They played in a conference with 2 very good teams and some very bad teams. They usually are a quick out but might be a little tougher this year.

It was tarboro in 09, we also made it to the title game in 2020 losing to Reidsville lol but I agree
I remember the 09 team. Erwin actually beat them in the pit that season. We had a rb named Martese Jackson who could absolutely fly. I remember Heritage having a massive offensive line and a great rb too. I went and watched them play Tarboro that year. Little did I know that a future NFL star was on that team as a freshman!

I was at the game that day. Years later I'm watching Gurly go off in the NFL and I was thinking "how don't I remember this guy" from the state title game. He was one heck of a player!

You're right. I hope to watch a game or 2 if they make another deep run. WNC needs some good stories
One team in not hearing much about in this thread is Murphy. They are 9-1. I know they were winning titles before the classification changed. Tradition alone should have them in the conversation. What's the scoop on them this season?

Who was wearing a brace that game the QB? I know the big man, Third Floyd, was playing with a knee injury as well but still shut the middle down. But by 3rd round everyone should be healthy

I believe Floyd was injured in East Wilkes game after the Starmount game.

Yes, Collins had a brace on his knee for Mount Airy game. He averages between 5 to 8 carries a game.

Floyd was injured before season and reaggrevated it against East Wilkes. The starmount game was only 2nd back

The extra week off helped us get a couple of defensive starters well.

It’s the exciting time of the year!
So you're a Starmount fan? I vaguely remember going to a game there a long time ago. I believe they played Owen in the playoffs. They were really good that season. Seemed like a really cool venue!

Every school in Northwest NC has turf fields (Alexander, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Wilkes, Surry and Yadkin) except Elkin and Mount Airy.

Both Jackson and Brown were excellent athletes.

That's cool. Buncombe county was the first to get them way back in the day. We all did at the same time. They are really nice but sometimes I miss the old school grass. It was fun on rainy night! Lol

Sorry, but Cherokee and Hayesville were the first in WNC to go with the fake grass.

Are you sure about that? I was almost certain Buncombe schools did it first (2005ish) and then Pisgah and Tuscola followed suit shortly after.
I think both have had it for about 13 years or so. But Iay be wrong.
