Thomasville- Oak Grove

Both teams played like crap IMO. Everyone knows Shewcow will get the ball. T'ville just took advantage of the mistakes better than OG. Was a horrible game to watch. I feel that it may have been good for OG though to lose now as I think it will make them stronger in the playoffs.

only 1 fumble!!
Sorry, Shewk. I started second guessing myself on that before I saw your post and went back and edited my post to say I thought he fumbled twice. I also added that he wasn't the only one with ball security issues. It was one of those nights. Maybe it will be good to get this one out of the way as long as it doesn't affect the seeding too bad.

Win or lose tonight, I think that they were likely going to enter the playoffs as one of the lowest MaxPreps rated conference champs, especially if they were to go West. In the East, it won’t matter too much. Most of the conference champs last year in the East were in little 2A.

While the dogs didn’t dominate the line of scrimmage the linebackers really controlled the game as no run got past them and they were constantly in the backfield on the stretch plays and passing plays. Oak grove had two unforced turnovers and two forced turnovers, one of which was returned for a touchdown which ultimately put the game away. Overall while the dogs talent may still not be on oak groves level (even though it’s not a big discrepancy) the discipline to follow the game plan was amazing. To me the game was amazing and so fun to watch but maybe I’m a bit old school as I love a good defensive game where one play can decide a game. Great game dogs!

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a game where two decent teams made that many mistakes and neither really capitalized on them. Either of these teams could have won by four touchdowns but I think they’re very close in ability.
I had my doubts about Thomasville’s ability to win tonight because their previous four games have been against less than mediocre competition. But I never doubted their grit and effort.
Frankly, I don’t think our conference is very good. Or at least there is no really strong team. Somebody may get on a roll, but I suspect none of these teams will play past the second weekend. But I’m sure happy with the results tonight!

I agree, not sure about anyone from CCC going deep in the playoffs this year. Thomasville is showing flashes of the good championship teams from the 90s up to 2008 but, we still have much room for improvement. Hoping we continue the momentum going into next week against Lexington and do something in the playoffs.

Go swat some Jackets, Dogs. Tville continues to improve and makes another statement game. Again, I'll happily eat crow for doubting. I understand your perspective on not considering it an upset, since OG has not beaten you yet. I also understand the other perspective of it being an upset because an undefeated team went down.

With that said, OG got a lesson tonight. With the Dogs history and tradition, you have to beat them to earn their respect. North learned that lesson long ago and got the Dogs attention in 77 by beating Tville. Tville didn't lose again until 91.

I'm sure OG and the Dogs will both have the game circled on the calendar next year. Could become a good rivalry if OG were to win a game over the next few years.

Good luck in the playoffs boys! You know I'm cheering for ya as always!

In football your not awarded style points...your gonna win some games you should have lost and loose

Thomasville coaching staff had a great plan and the kids played hard. Wasn’t pretty but got the win. As for OG, they are well coached and have a bunch of kids, but lack speed as a team. OG is a good team and has earned the title of CCC champs and the dogs have proven they are back and ready to begin challenging for the CCC title. Biggest question mark for the Dogs is linemen, when the seniors were introduced I counted four Underclassmen with lineman numbers warming up.

If OG played a good game they would have walked those dogs!
However all “IF’s” didn’t happen.
Oak Grove did make a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes that ultimately cost them the game, but I don't think you can separate that from the fact that Thomasville has athletes and brought a game plan that put OG in an uncomfortable position all night. You have to tip your hat to them; they deserved the win.

As it stands today, OG will be conference champions in their first year as a full school, a great accomplishment. The joy that the Tville fans have today comes partly from the fact that they beat the conference champs. Your son should be a shoo-in (pun intended) for offensive player of the year in the conference, and there are many other OG players that deserve recognition. I expect them to be even better next year and maybe even make a decent run in the playoffs this year, if they go to the east.

I expect Tville will be better next year, too. They have a very good staff there and the kids have bought in, it appears. It is good to see them on the upswing, and I love seeing a rivalry developing. Unfortunately, the two schools will only be conference foes for the next two years, before OG likely goes 3A and Tville either stays or moves down to 1A. Maybe they can keep it going with an out of conference series.
.

Thomasville had a great game plan, executed it and forced a lot of mistakes! Not being able to get the edge on runs and swing passes made OG a little too predictable but that gets back to executing the game plan. Congrats to the Dogs and congrats to OG on the conference crown in year 2!

Oh I see now, shewcow is SHEWK5 son,now I understand why he seems salty and can't give the Dogs the respect their due for beating them..it's crystal clear now

HAHAHA! The dogs did what they needed to do to win, pretty sure that’s giving credit. It’s still MY OPINION they are not the better TEAM.

Let's be honest. OG is a good team but not unbeatable and that has been talked about and got proven this week. They will still be a force if they go 2AA East. Their speed is their liability. And if they can't get the playaction passing game going to take the pressure off Shewcow well-coached teams can take advantage of that.

Tville is a program on the rise with a great coach and is peaking this year at exactly the right time. They should be a force themselves in the 2A West unless they meet up with say Shelby or another team with athletes just like theirs but in greater numbers.

If Tville goes 1A next realignment watch out, they are going to be a state power once again. If they remain 2A I still expect them to be good and only continue to improve under Coach Robertson.

Good luck to both teams! Represent the CCC! Our conference is the best it has been in a long time now!
