Let’s hear what the prognosticators say about this one. I know OG is a very well coached team that is earning that perfect mark so far. Hard hitting RB and a steady defense. Thomasville has had its ups and downs, but this team has found itself offensively and is very athletic. I think it is going to be a great game.

I'm a realist and I believe we can do it..I wouldn't be surprised if we did either, tville is really in a good groove right now, gonna be a good one to bad I have to work this Friday night...

Thomasville will have to out-execute Oak Grove just like they did against ND. I anticipate the Dogs will play a lot of cover 1 and cover 0 to plug the gaps and stuff the OG run. Shewcow is a beast, easier said than done.

If Tville can use their speed they may be able to pull an upset. I think OG will win but crazier things have happened.

Good luck to both teams!

Is shewcow a big kid?

So If shewcow is slowed down or stopped, they can be beaten? who else do they have ? I heard their kicking game is pretty bad...Thomasville knows all to well about that, but we seem to have figured it out now

The kicking game was non-existent early in the season. Their kicking game still needs work but has improved tremendously.

Shewcow will be hard to stop. Their QB is a pretty good thrower. He can also scramble when he needs to but isn't overly fast. The main. Thing is the OG o-line. They have been lights out this year and will make it difficult to just stop the run.

OG defense is solid but can give up the big play time to time. If Tville receivers can get loose they may get behind the coverage for big yards. I liked both the Tville qb and rb when I saw them play.

Slowing down Shewcow certainly improves your chances against OG, but they can throw it some if given time and will get the occasional big play from someone else. They don't seem to make teams pay for blitzing very often. It seemed like Salisbury and Ledford brought the linebackers a lot, and OG just never could seem to set up the jailbreak screen or hit the little pop passes that Holcomb ran a lot at ND. I suspect that is getting worked on, however.

Shoecow completly shut Down last year against the Dogs. Went out banged up- same kids played last year as this year. Oak grove lost to Dogs last year and didnt score - didn’t score against jv or middle school - same kids. Our weapons are too strong. Question for them is can you stop #9 #13 #24 #5 #22 #23 #7 #41 —we will stop #9 . Sledgehammer offense is slamming OG. Community night and senior night will be too much they will choke and cave - too much energy was spent to barley beat Ledford.

OG players are posting pictures of a ‘victims banner’ with the logo of teams they have beat this year and says - one more to go. That cockiness will bite this week in the form of a Bulldog. They’re not ready but they think they are- hope they put that on the wall

Sincere trash talk on message boards with high school sports is always hilarious to me, I can’t believe anybody takes it that seriously lol yet here we are.

Anyways, this game can go both ways Thomasville is playing much better and is determine , but man that OG train is rolling. Some would say they are due to have a letdown. You could say they were tested last week and will be more sharp this Friday.

Good luck to both.

I wouldn't consider it an upset if Thomasville wins, they are playing just as good as anyone in the conference right now,the ND win was huge for them as far as confidence goes..and it would have been very easy to have a let down after that game but they didn't they came out and blew ED,SR and WD out like they should have,if those games were closer I'd be very concerned...like I said that ND win could have been a turning point for Thomasville and so far they've steam rolled everyone after that...the pressure is squarely on OG and the longer they stay undefeated that pressure is gonna build

I think this will be a good game, but if you think this is the same OG team you saw last year, you may be in for a surprise. This years OG team has already beaten 4 teams that they got pretty well blown out by last year.
And Shewcow is #9.

That's what makes this one interesting. This is a big game for Tville in the playoff picture, but OG definitely has a target on their back. The experience of overcoming adversity against Ledford may come in handy for OG Friday night, but they will be away from home this time. It should be fun.

Friday night was my first time seeing OG play this season. I was disappointed in OG's defense and think Tville's offensive scheme will pose some problems for OG. As well as Tville is coached, I'm sure they'll use Ledford's offensive plan as a blueprint to attack OG. Offensively for OG, I wish Coach Holcomb would get #20 more touches, he is the only really explosive player on their offense. Shewcow is a hard-nosed kid but lacks big-play potential, especially against a quick, fast Tville defense. This game will be a lot closer than I would have imagined, and I'm actually leaning slightly towards Tville. With that being said, Tville's kicking game is bad enough to cost them a close game.

I agree with the part about getting 20 more touches. He has got some wheels under him. Put him in the slot and run jet sweep, or get it to him on some screens. He needs more space to get started than Shewcow, but he does have the ability to bust it once he gets going. His two kick return TDs showed that.

I have noticed that Holcomb doesn't seem to like jet sweep. He used to run it a lot several years back at ND, but stopped his last few years there. He has only run it a couple of times that I have seen this year and hasn't got much out of it both times.

I’m just not candy coating my prediction with ‘what ifs’ - and I’m not trash talking with Ill-will. Just stating that Thomasville is a different team that played last year as well - they’re better with tons of weapons. The hype will be too much for OG. We’ve already been down and out they have not - once the pressure is turned up - fold. Sorry 9- OC- how bout them Tarheels !!!

OG was down and seemed out against Ledford in the last minute. They won the game. I just don't see Tvilles defense giving them problems like Ledford did. I could be wrong. But if Tville is going to win this game I think they will have to outscore OG because I believe OGs offensive line is going to give Tville more problems than their D-line will give OG.

Again, good luck to both. I hope all the kids stay injury free.

You you may be right - I’m just hopeful- good luck to both. I got friends on both sides that read these post - they know I’m just getting under their skin a little with fun. - hopenour conference goes deep in the playoffs with bulldogs going further - shamelessly

Doubt anyone's taking the smack talk that seriously, its all in good fun. Personally I hope OG really does have a "victims banner". It will just make it that much better if they lose to us.;)

But yeah, this game is a toss up between two good teams. Earlier in the season I would say my Dogs get blown out but the team has seemed to gradually improve since the Central Davidson game.

If you slow down or stop Shewcow then you have a good chance of beating OG but the Dogs better not forget about the QB, he can run too and is decent passer. I've noticed the last few games they like to hit the TE over the middle so watch out for him. The OG line is very good at run blocking and has some size too, so if I were the Tville coach I would put 8 in the box and give different looks with the DL and move some guys around so the OG oline doesn't get the same look every time and get comfortable. I watched some of their film and they love to run in the 3 and 4 holes and pull the OG and OT, seemed to run to the right more than left. Tville defense will need to get penetration in the backfield and take on the OL before the OG blockers get a head of steam. Holcomb is a excellent play caller and regularly audibles plays at the line depending on the alignment of the defense. Another thing I saw on the OG/Ledford game tape is they lined up in the swinging gate formation with the OL off to the right so the Dogs better be prepared for everything or Holcomb will take advantage.

Very worried about the field tomorrow as it may neutralize the speed the dogs have. I know cushwa has a good draining system but that’s a lot of water to drain in a 20 hour period.

Checking back in this thread I have seen several comments about how well coached OG is coached. Here are the career facts about the HC's from both teams. Point being, both teams are well coached and have excellent staffs.

OG Coach- 129-57 in 17 seasons. Average 7.5 wins and 3.3 loses. No state titles and one Regional final appearance. Tenured coach, awesome play caller and runs a quality program.

THS HC- 100-42 in 11 seasons. 9.1 wins and 3.8 loses. One state title as a HC (undefeated season) and 3-4 Championships as a coordinator. 2AA Regional Finals, 3AA Regional Finals, 2AA State Runner-up. Excellent resume', more titles and appearances and knows how to win.

Ledford has to be sick on their stomach after blowing coverage and allowing that TD late to tie the game. They should have won that game. Hats off to OG for a hard fought win. Tonight features one of the top RB's in the state, versus the leading tackler in the state. Shewcow will have a good night, he is too big and strong not to. But the difference is everywhere he goes #22 will be there to put pads on him and that will be the difference. Dogs limit Shewcow and Blair, make enough big plays on offense, defense and special teams to win on Senior Night at Cushwa in a great ball game!

The only quality game THS won is ND of the season. OG has 3 in Salisbury, Ledford, & ND. But it’s high school football, anything can happen once the whistle blows. Gotta stick with OG in a close one.

If Thomasville plays Ledford now. Thomasville dominates. Thomasville has gotten better each week whereas Ledford hasn't so comparing their earlier game is pointless.

Best two coaches in DC as far as tenure.

OG should have scored right before the half but their lack of kicking game bit them in the butt. They had the ball on the 11 and chose to try for a TD. OG was just better than Ledford, they moved the ball all night but people were holding their breath on extra points. Lackey had more big plays but nobody else from Ledford did anything on offense other than the backup qb getting that long pass to Lackey.

Perhaps Tville can take advantage of OGs special teams. (Kicking, not punting) We shall see. I still have OG as the favorite.

Robertson inherited a great program in Reidsville, made a great program at Eastern Guilford and now has Tville on the upswing. They will be very dangerous if they go down to 1A and will still get better if they stay in 2A, imo.

Holcomb inherited a great program from Butts and had a great first two years, then 6-6 the next three years. Two years as an assistant principal allowed him to step back and evolve I think, then he rebuilt the ND program from scratch and had several great seasons while being the smallest or second smallest team in the CPC. Now he has built OG into a program in just three years. Time will tell if OG becomes a power or not.

True, granted all those quality wins were home games for OG. This will be the first away game they get tested. Should be fun!

I'm thinking it will be a low scoring game due to both defenses and the field. Perfect cold weather tonight!
