Congrads Tville on your win tonight. Not a bad game for the first game of the season. 3 big plays from Thomasville was the difference. Thought the game got away from us in the second quarter. We have got to shore up our corners. That's were we got hurt tonight. Thought the offense did pretty good considering Tville had 9 in the box. We didn't try to throw the ball enough. imo. Our DW is still a work in progress.
On a brighter note the best part of the night to me was meeting ITJ, oc davis and thomasvilledawg. Thanks for stopping by guys.
Again it was nice to see the red dogs and blue dogs go at it. Wasn't a classic but still nice to see these 2 teams playing again.
Now to get ready for Concord. Ugh, ouch. Not sure I'm looking forward to next week. It will be a tall order guys. Just keep working hard and lets get after it Monday. Go Dogs.

You know guys I was thinking on the way home how far these 2 teams have fallen since the glory years. Kind of sad in a way. Back in the day 2 powerhouse teams, stands packed and usually a great nailbiting game. That was not what I saw tonight. I know you can't go back to yesteryear but I sure do miss it. Anymore old timers agree!!!!!!

This has been a tough off season for our boys. Coach smith just brought in etc. Second half we outscored them 20-12. Also knowing we are not deep we had our #2 RB hurt and Steinbach injured in the first half. That second quarter got us. Also being not deep we can't have the goofy turnovers which affects our D. Tonight was a very slow paced game which really is what we need because we are not deep.

Yeah I agree nation. Since we are already short on numbers many injuries and we will be up the preverbable creek. lol. Proud of how hard the kids played. I think the DW is the right offense for us and thought they ran it pretty good tonight. Just have to prevent the big play. That's what beat us tonight.

I agree. If we had alittle more depth this group of kids would be scary they are talented.

I really enjoyed meeting everyone from Albemarle. So glad we have renewed the rivalry. We had way too many
penalties, especially in the second half. All the best to the Blue Dogs for the rest of the season.

My unofficial:
DJ Spann 14 carries 193 yards 4 (80, 6, 20, 33)
Josh Scott 5 carries 93 yards 1 TD (67)
Kyree Colson PAT
Melvin Lurry had an INT.
Not sure who got the 2nd INT, #30?
11 penalties.

Let's get ready for next week.

Just hope the doors at Albemarle are open next year ITJ. One of you guys said the enrollment at Thomasville was 700 and something. Guess what Albemarle is just over 400 now. With a dropping enrollment and if it continues they may close the school. How sad.

I spoke to one of the coaches post game and they were pretty happy. We lost our best football player for offense and defense in Nichols. I hope it is nothing serious. We only ran a hand full of offensive players the 2nd half for this reason.

Until Albemarle shows that it is capable of throwing the ball at least a little they are going to continue to see teams line up with 9 players in the box. I thought the kids played hard and didn't quit and we can take that as a positive note from the game. A few breakdowns in defense made the difference in the win for Thomasville. It hurt to lose one of our better defensive players in warmups with a knee injury but injuries are part of the game. Hopefully the injury isn't too serious because we don't have a lot of depth. Don't care for the 7 o'clock kickoffs.

I agree with your statement 100 %.

More observations from last night.
Coach Smith was on top of the press box for the first half, but was on the sidelines for the second half. Not real sure what this was all about.
Losing our best defensive back in warm ups was a big loss. Heard he might be lost for the season. Hope not.
We could not move the ball in the first half but started to move it in the second half when Thomasville started to tire.
Bird did a nice job running the offense, but when he tried to pass just threw the ball up for grabs. Hence two ints.
Thought our kids were in excellent condition. With so many going both ways we hung in there till the end.
With this offense we cannot afford to get behind. It is a slow grind it out offense which takes a lot of time to score so we need to keep the game close.
Yes Dogs9 I also think the other teams we play will also stack the box against us so we need to get ready for that. Really don't see us having much of a passing attack unless Coach Smith has something in mind that I didn't see last night.
Really don't know how good Thomasville is or will be this season. That could have some bearing on how we did last night. They really only hurt us on the outside as we had no one there when they went wide. Hope we can correct that. The interior defense looked solid.
Think our season will be determined by how healthy we are the rest of the way. With very little depth injuries will either make us or break us.
Finally I was proud of how hard the kids played last night. Keep it up guys.

It was an honor to meet you and ITJ last night buddy, you guys do have good size as usual, and I think in time you could have a really good team, the RB's are good size boys who run very hard, but have to develop some kind of passing game,or else it will be difficult to move the ball, just like all the other games we've played over the years,I was never comfortable with any kind of lead we had, your guys never gave up and made us sweat it out.this tville team does have a lot of talent and our schedule is favorable to make some noise this year, good luck to our old rivals this year,I have much respect for the blue dogs

Thanks TVILLEDAWG2370. Believe me the honor was all mine. Hope the doors are still open at AHS next year so so we can repay you with a visit to Cushwa.

Classy post.

It's a good rivalry and I think a pretty balanced one. Although without checking I would bet that T'ville has won a majority of the games over the last 20 years.

I still remember the 1994 game when T'ville drubbed AHS in round two of the playoffs. That loss sparked AHS' great run to several state titles, so maybe last night's loss will have a motivating effect as well!

Good luck to T'ville this year.

Congrats to T-Ville. Sorry Buddy I didn't make it over, I departed close too the end of the second quarter.

I hate we lost one of our best players. That's when lack of depth really takes a toll.

As far as the offense goes, I saw some good things and some bad things in 2 quarters.

Too be honest T-Ville was just as bad as Albemarle. I'm not sure why they didn't keep feeding Emery the ball...he was getting 4 yards a touch... Our QB can't throw the ball up for grabs unless it's a Hail Mary on the final play of the game... On a positive note, our guys did play hard and that's what matters. They still need too work on getting up too the line; Gaster would have called a timeout and cured them out if he'd ever see them walk up to the line. Also, we need to be more "Aggressive" on the offensive line. The DW won't work if you can't consistently move guys around on blocks.

We are still a work in progress. I won't make the game next week, but I can tell you right now, it's going to be hideous... The main thing is to come away healthy and prepare for West Stanly.

Actually K and W all you can eat Buffet, I had some matters to take care of. 4th round is still not out of the picture. Long season, that's only 1 game...

We need somebody to kick extra pts, somebody, anybody, that will be a major problem if we don't

Emery finished with 26 carries 5.2 yds a carry. The biggest thing I seen was lack of urgency in the second half, especially the 4th quarter.

If Emery had 50 touches, Albemarle may have won that game. If anybody disagrees is insane. Davis had 51 back in 2001.

In regards to Thomasville. Congrats on the win. I thought for a min your kids was going to give us the game. It was good to see the lights come on again. Best of luck to you the remainder of the season.

I will say this about our new offense. I like the DW as long we're leading. However if we get behind double digits especially late in the game we are sunk. It's the type offense where you grind it out and it takes time to score. We just don't have that quick score ability. Thomasville killed us in the second quarter and we never could recover. Our defense is going to have to play really well for us to win games.

I think this team will be fine. Injuries will be key for us. There was a big difference on how this offense ran vs Latin and last night. Against every good team you have to watch your turnovers and we committed 3 last night including 2 that went for points.

I think Concord will win depending on our health but I don't think it will be a huge spread as everybody is thinking UNLESS we turnover the ball. We will control the clock defense will have to step up.

The offense will get quicker and the kids will become more comfortable it is just going to take some time.

One more note ANYTIME you have to trim your playbook down to 4 plays or whatever your offense is going to struggle. My prediction is this week in practice we are going to get better, and this Friday at Concord we will have a better showing. Hopefully we come out of Friday healthy as we prepare for conference play. The season is a marathon not a sprint, typically I would be alittle concerned but we seen some good things last night and this coaching staff even with limited time has done a good job. Remember fellas we did lose 20 seniors last year. Be patient like I believe bulldog follower said it will be ugly for awhile but at the end of the day I think we will be happy with how we look. Would love to see the crowd more into it I believe that really helps the kids get going. I know in basketball the crazier the crowd the harder the kids go it really helps you take your level of play to the next level.

Also remember our QB switched from wr. This is the first time he has ever taken snaps as a QB so he wi have a learning curve automatically. With that being said I felt he controlled the game well made good solid hand offs etc. He made 2 bad decisions last night which is not bad for a guy who has never ran QB until this season. I know for a fact the kid that was out is a monster on D and offensively him and Emery make that offense go.

Coach Smith might have to bite the bullet and play Emery and Stanback on defense. I'm afraid next weeks game will be worse than the Thomasville game just because Concord is a better team. Hopefully we can get through it without anymore injuries and get ready for conference play.

Steinbach is a big boy I am surprised he is not on the line on defense possibly on offense as well.

How is # 21. Extent of his injury?
Haven't heard yet. Could be just something minor and he could be right back in or something serious like a ligament. I am sure the coaches will know Monday when he is reevaluated. The trainer on our staff is excellent.

Concord will win big but I expect AHS to play hard and learn a lot. Love that we are playing Concord (first meeting since 1982) but it'll be very tough for AHS to keep this one close.
