For me the 1995 Thomasville team was the best
97 Clinton Dark Horses
LOL! If we hadn't spent the night in a hotel the night before....that would have been a different game!
Hey 2014 if Skinner does not get hurt maybe that's a different game or at least closer......If's and but's....
01' and 02' teams. 02' lost on last second FG in championship, only loss of the year. Probably best team we've ever had that didn't get it done.
DH34 I get it, but no way we would've won. Shelby was man amongst boys that day. It was obvious. I hate to admit it, but it is what it is.
I'm old too, Rambbq. That just means we have a greater perspective. It's hard to compare teams if you haven't seen them. And there has been none better for Thomasville than 1964. Close maybe, but none better.2007 to 2009 Reidsville went 48-0 with 3 straight 2AA titles...of these teams.....2007 might be the best....avg. an incredible 48.1 pts. per game....including playoff victories of 48-12....54-12......63-6......49-19...and 28-20..................I'm an old guy...so to the Thomasville fans....I remember your 1964 team....they hammered us 41-6 that year (and we had a decent team)...think the record will show that to be one of your best.....as Yogi said....."You can look it up"...................
86 defense was unreal. 87 team had a stout D but offense was just as good.Shelby 1986 is still my favorite.
You're killin' me over here Maddox! That game was a lot closer than the score. And that wasn't even close to Thomasville's best team. But it was definitely a talented Tiger team.I tried to type 1983 Randleman Tigers...IMO the Best 2A team ever put together..........
That Whiteville team was indeed special. But McGlockton beat Thomasville almost singlehandedly in the championship game. He was a beast on offense and on defense.I'll say 1987 Whiteville team Chester Macklockton ,Heath Hewett,Joe Reeves.
Just to mention a few. State Champs.
Great coaches. Had a good run for years, still
Has a great program. Buck71 can tell u a lot more than I but 87 was loaded.
Gonna have to go with '83. Most balanced team ER ever had. Offensively and defensively. 2006 threw it well but '83 had one of the best athletes school has ever had. That's a tough one. I can't decide between '83, '94, or 2006.
No sir. But they weren't playing Ledford, East, SW Randolph and Union Pines. The old North Piedmont Conference was tougher competition, top to bottom, than anything since. Was the 1964 Thomasville teams defense better than the 1995 team that gave up 56pts all year in 16 games, that had 8 shutouts and the most points allowed all year was 13 to southern alamance

Did that 83 team for ER beat Thomasville that year in the 3a championship?
The 95 Thomasville team and the 99 HP Central team were the two best 2A teams I personally ever saw play. They were both the best teams in the state those years regardless of classification, IMO. T-ville's defense and HPC's offense were truly something to behold. I have been asked before what I thought would have been the outcome if those two teams would have played. My answer was that I believe Thomasville would have won. HPC ran a VERY potent wishbone attack that just ran over people all year long in 99. The 95 T-Ville defense was EXTREMELY strong against the run, to the point where it was really useless to call a running play against them. That is why I would give the edge to 95 Thomasville, because of how strong they were against the run.The 1999 High point central team will go down as one of the best,if not the best EVER in the 2A ranks hands down
If I HAD to rank them it would be 83 first(maybe cause I am old), 2006 second (Scott Riddle had a monster year and defense only gave up a little over 8 points per game) and then maybe 1994. There were a couple of other years where they only lost in 4th round of playoffs that weren't too bad.Yeah, it's hard to argue against '83 and Alan Hooker. In all honesty, I probably would've said '94 had they sealed the deal against Burns.
