First ever in the subdivided era. The first year of all classes being subdivided, 2002, the west won seven of eight. Cummings won 2A while Reidsville, from the same conference and (I think) the second most western team in the east regional beat Bandys. HP Andrews was the fartherest western team in the east regional.
