SW Randolph at Providence Grove

Will the Cougars be able to stop PG on offense? That's my main question.
Can PG stop SWR on offense? The Cougars have some good weapons of their own. Plus they are playing with a lot of confidence. Very intriguing game. PG entered the year with most thinking this is the team to win the league, now they are in a dog fight to even finish second. You have to give SWR a lot of credit for the season they’ve put together.

Thought Griddle might chime in something. Glad he did or this thread might have been like a green tomato on vine in October. Just wither and die…
PG gets the W I believe…
But the fighting Baxters might make it interesting..👍

Fry that green tomato!

I’m taking PG over the fighting Baxter’s!….but certainly not over the fighting Baptists!😜

Wish I could add more….but that’s all I got.

Maybe if the brackets hold true…y’all can fill me in on Trinity.

Will be a short summary…
But I have friends there so I’ll be nice 👍

You will not be playing Trinity is the one thing we can assure you. No way they beat Randleman and SWR. Randleman has a chance imo, as they will beat Trinity pretty soundly then have ER at home the final game. Surely an upset of ER gets them in. A loss and they are right on the cut off line imo.

I’m going with the Rah Rah Brown over the Fighting Baxter. Think he has too much talent in Thomas, Rogers, twins, Bowman, Wade etc. Those kids can play. Of course the Fighting Baxter has Cole, Clapp, etc. that are good also. I could see both teams winning a playoff game with a good draw. Maybe two with really good draws. What you think Kidd and Chute

Think you are absolutely correct in that both teams could possibly win a couple of games if matchups fell right…
Now about this here orange/blue upset on the 29th…
Cmon man?!? 🙄

That's a good question. PG hasn't looked good against the run the last couple of weeks. If SWR can get the running game established, things could get interesting. I just think they'll have a lot of trouble on defense. If the Cougars can hold PG to under 20 points, I like their chances.

I definitely give SWR credit. I think Mr. Baxter has them headed in the right direction.

For now. The jayvee team and middle school isn’t exactly lighting it up. JVs are beating PG 14-8 at the half. Ledford 20-6 over Asheboro jvs at the beak.

I don’t see SWR holding PG under 20, but I also see SWR scoring more than 20. Honesty depends on Thomas. If he has one of those games he’s capable of and has now snd then, like at Randleman, then Pats going away. If SWR can contain him then they have a shot imo.

WHAT A BALL GAME.

With around five minutes left, Caleb Rogers capped off an outstanding PG drive with a nice little touchdown run to put PG up 38-34. PG then converted a two-pointer and held on for the vic. I'm glad they did because I missed the last five minutes.

This game should've been called the Carowinds Bowl because it was a roller coaster. SW jumping out to 7-0 lead, PG leading 19-7, SW leading 34-25 in the third.....

First thing's first.......Chase Whitaker. He pulled an Al Bundy last night. Four touchdowns. He also had his usual nice game on defense. Zane Cheek also had a nice game on both sides of the ball. He laid out a vicious hit in the first quarter and also had a pick.

The most important play of the game might have been early on. With SW up 7-0, Zander Cheek made a hell of a catch down the right sideline. That play was a huge momentum boost for PG and led to their first TD.

Continued.....

SWR got an amazing performance from Adam Cole last night. I did not know that Cole was going to do his best Devin Hester imitation. He had two long punt returns. The first one set up a Cougar touchdown. The second one was one of the best plays I've seen in quite a while. He caught the punt on the run and flew down the right sideline about 80 yards for another score.

The Cougars also got great games from Keaton Reed and Easton Clapp. SWR had some pretty good success on the ground.

What might have been though......Early in the fourth quarter, the Cougars had the ball deep in PG territory. Then, they fumbled and PG recovered. That led to the long PG drive for the game-winner. Luke Thomas, Caleb Rogers, and the PG o-line were magnificent during this drive.

SWR will have a long weekend thinking about what if. Dropped TD pass, fumble at the 5 which likely puts the game away, 3rd and 3 late inside PG 30 and take a 10 yard sack. SWR probably should have won this game.

But PG, kudos, get the turnover and drive 95 yards for winning score mainly on the ground. Rogers is small but man he plays big.

And Whitaker, what a game. Kid has gotten better and better on defense at LB all year. He, Bowman and Braddy had good games defensively per the norm and it was just enough to put PG over the top at the end. Whitaker 4 tds as well, who would have called that one.

Also Cole, Clapp, Reed - those guys can play. There have been a lot of naysayers this season, but SWR is a good team.
I might be wrong, I’m sure if you asked my wife she would agree, but I think both will be hard outs in 2A playoffs.

It definitely wasn't planned. As I parked my car, I noticed Lee and a few other students tailgating behind me. I know him and his family well. I hope he does that for the playoffs. That was some good Q.
I feel a lot of love for PG between you two lol. Tailgating at PG in the playoffs 🤨😀 Think I will do mine a bit southeast through the mountains.
