8-2 Statesville will take on 6-3 Franklin. Thoughts on this matchup. I will take Statesville advancing an playing Hickory in 2nd rd.

Don't know anything about Franklin, but this could be interesting match up. Heads up to Franklin fans that are planning on making the trip to Statesville. No bags, purses including diaper bags etc of any kind will not be allowed in the stadium. Not even sure clear bags will be allowed. Thats the story from what i was told. And be prepared for metal dectors.

Yeah I don’t understand the diaper bag. You go through to be screened and still can’t bring in a clear bag. Little too extreme to my opinion

Statesville has the biggest boys I’ve seen on a team around here. I’m sure they get bigger in the Charlotte Winston Greensboro areas but these guys are massive up front. Only 2 losses and they came against the State champs Hickory and a team called North Lincoln who did not have any fumbles and their smaller guys up front were quick on the snaps and they had a few unfortunate setbacks. If they got that stuff corrected and ironed out which it looks like they have then they will be VERY dangerous.

It’s always tough for Franklin to come down the Mnt and play teams. As was said above we are coming off 3 straight losses. Realistically this is one that will be over early but, we all thought the same thing a couple years ago vs KM and that game went down to the wire.

Sometimes when you hit a team in the mouth they don't respond as they should. I'll always say, "That's why they play the game."

Franklin is usually pretty solid on the line but Smoky Mountain just ran through our interior D-line like diarrhea through a screen door Friday night. Our main RB was absent a lot in that game so I hope he is ok, who knows. If he's at full strength he is a weapon in all phases of the game. We may have to rely on our sophomore QB to make some plays. He is certainly capable of it but some games are better than others.

Seeing the comments about size (which does not always equal talent) on the line and seeing their results this year (probably a better indicator) I would say Statesville has to be a pretty big favorite, but Franklin will show up, play hard and make Statesville beat them.
