South Point at Hunter Huss

[
I don't think Shelby Lion is ready to have the rest of his teeth removed down to two to qualify as a Crest dad. However, maybe the Red Raiders can recruit Kane - I just love his game face in Cheetoman's avatar.

ROFL NICE!!!!

Go get em #30

No score in the 1st quarter for either team. Most of the game has been played in Huss territory, with the Raiders turning over on downs twice, once at the HH 29 and once at the HH 11. Early in the 2nd quarter, the Raiders scored on 45 yd run by King.

SP 7 - HH 0

After the kick return, the Huskies had their best starting position so far of the evening at their own 40. They managed to advance to the SP 29 before turning over on downs. Looks like it's going to be a long night for Huss.

Halftime - SP 7 - Huss 0

Abandoning a run game for the pass, Huss had another opportunity to get on the boards, advancing to the SP 31. After several incomplete passes, the HH QB was sacked at the SP 45 bringing up 4th and 25. Another incomplete pass; the Raiders took over on downs with 10 seconds left in the half and took a knee.

SP 14 - HH 0

The Raiders recovered a Huskies fumble on the HH 33 sets up a 33 yd TD run by Etherton. With the weather and field conditions, you got to take any opportunity you can to score

(Note: this play was in the 3rd quarter)

Crazy play of the night: Huskies - 4th down from their own 11 to punt the ball. Ball was dropped and then kicked while on the ground (illegal kick). Raiders recovered in the end zone - TD for SP. Missed PAT

SP 20 - HH 0 less than a minute left in the game

FINAL - SP 20 - HH 0

Just got home and it was a cold, windy, and wet night. SP D played pretty well, but the offense was very inconsistent. HH ran a 5-3 D with the 3 Dbacks within yards of the line and really jammed things up for the Raiders. SP relies on quick firing by O line and the field conditions did not allow for quick anything. Huss has it usual stable of athletes and a couple of hard running backs but really got very little offense on the night. Ugly but a win.

Huss only got into SP twice all evening and not even to the red zone. SP had great field position much of the night which given the weather conditions we needed to score.

Just got home also. An ugly game and HH played competitive with SP all night but you never felt the game was in real jeopardy. Just like West Charlotte, I think Huss was a better team than advertised. Finally the kids got to experience old time, mud bowl football. A raw night but that is what it is about sometimes. Certainly better than another wussout postponement. As the HH PA announcer was so fond of saying, a lot of HARD running and HARD hitting by both teams tonight considering the conditions. Life must be HARD at Hunter Huss because everything is described as HARD on the Huss side!

Yes it was a defensive game no doubt...Both teams produced stubborn defense...Two big plays on offense made difference...the last muffled punt was a freebie....on to next week and hopefully drier conditions
