South Fork week 9

This is make it, break it time for playoff seedlings and of course if close to bottom, any playoff hopes. My original conference finish pickings we’re off and all in a good way. North Lincoln and West Lincoln have really showed out and showed up. A team that even I and every one else picked to finish 4th or lower is on a roll to win the whole thing. Bandys is on that same roll and can also win it all. I hate that Lincolnton is having the worst down year ever but it will be short lived. You guys will beat LNC. Sure it may be embarrassingly close but i wouldn’t fret.
So let’s hear it-

EL and Bandys: classic hwy 16 matchup that goes way back. Not sure of the series so someone fill in. East has had their way with Bandys for a little while but believe the tide has changed. Should be conference game of the week Bandys over East by 2 scores.

Newton and LNC: should get Newton a playoff hope.

Lincolnton and WL: what is usually a joke of a rival will have heads shaking this year. West wins by 4 scores but will prob only add a #5 or #6 or something to the overall series.

NL and Maiden: is Maiden gonna make a final stand to get in playoffs or is North gonna show they will go on a rampage for first ever title. Major test in this one for both teams. Could go either way in a thriller. Bazzel knows Maiden so that’s gonna help North in a major way. I’d say North by 1 TD.

This week is spot on predictable or more of it this week. What you think the chances are of North and Hibriten goin toe to toe 1st or 2nd round? If they take Maiden, North is definitely n the dance this November. Both are 2AA. It’d be a joke game cause there’s not much you can do with so much speed and athleticism but you guys will get a kick out of playing against Cribb and Sorrus. These 2 can put on a show.

I hadn’t heard a thing in a while bout the freshman RB Williams kid for NL that fans said Lincolnton and East were having a fit over and really wanting on their team. Has he been 8 quartered yet or he on JVs helping with their success and just suiting up on Friday’s and being used in certain game situations?

Just looked at Carolina varsity. Think North will get a higher seeding than #10 if they win out and/or lose at least once. Should East beat Bandys it’ll fall in more favor for North. Be a very interesting and important night of football this Friday for all SF 2A teams except LNC and unfortunately Lincolnton.

North is managing Ty's quarters. He is playing with the JV's and dressing on Friday's. He touched the ball 6 times last week against East and scored 4 TDs. I expect to see him used in the return game as we get later in the year. Really impressed with what Bazzle has done in a short period of time.

Bandys with a slow start but dominating game. East had a couple scores late. East were playing without #4 and #5 got hurt pretty early in the game. It looked bad but hopefully he will be ok.

Seen the FFN highlights. Looked like Lincolnton had a chance in this one. Way closer than I or anyone thought. No flashy wideouts like I used to see out of Lincolnton but the kids did alright. West may need some work or its one and done in Nov. Same for North but I am loving the new atmosphere that must be going in Pumpkin Center.

Kid from west made a heck of a play on the ball at the end to seal the deal. I'll say this, for our short comings this season the guys are still fighting and that's all you can ask for when it's just one of those seasons. Sometimes we forget these are 15-17 year old kids out there and they're giving it all they got and to come up short like we did tonight burns a little. This season has been hard but you have those every once in awhile. We will not be down long and we will bounce back. As for West, I was not impressed with them. They run the same 3 or 4 plays and the offense is very predictable, on defense you can get behind those corners very easily. I see them being nothing more than a one and done in November and that's just honesty.

May be 3 or 4 plays and that’s it but they’ve made em work. They put more points on Maiden than North did yet North came up with the upset a couple weeks ago. They put as many points in Draughn As Freedom did. Scratching my head on that one ha ha but I agree, I see them being a one and done unless they get a high seed and probably will and take out some poor team that barley got in and 2nd round they’ll get crushed. Maiden also made it look easy to score on North even though they’ve struggled too. Shows you can’t sleep on anybody in this conference...cept maybe LNC. But even they kept it close with a couple teams this year for a quarter if I recall.

Next week looking like an emotional game with NC and NL against an old coach who is working with what he has dispite the exodus of athletes but there’s still SOME athletes at NC that can take over that game if North D don’t step up. Will also show if they even stand a chance against this years suprise team- Bandys. I’m not the least bit surprised cause Bandys is a competitor and if they’re down like Lincolnton it’s NEVER long. Sometimes a team needs a new coach and new atmosphere and North and Bandys got both this year. East Burke needs a new something down there at Icard even though athletic talent is all time low. At East Lincoln the athletic pool must be down. They had their run past few years that’s for sure.

Just making sure you were talking bout my comments and not someone elses. I guess your talking bout me. That's ok, lemmie just clear the air on my last post on North. Now I have and DO give credit were credit is due. Bragged on Cribb and Sorrus quiet a bit on my posts. Very good ball players. Program is turning around big time especially compared to the past 8 or 9 years. Cribb is keeping these guys alive and its not just him, he has a good supporting casts and a solid coach that has some good stuff left in the tank. Not sure how long you have watched and kept up with North, few years, maybe since the school opened I dunno. But 06'-08' those guys had some players and good seasons. 06' was best QB ever in Trent Hopkins. After those years they kinda fell by the wayside and it didn't help when they went to 3A. Glad to see them back at 2AA but from what I understand they may shoot back up next realignment. Not saying those teams(06'-08) were better than whats on the field now, some might argue that they were, that's all ya'lls opinion. As far as the QB, Hopkins was something special. His backup was good too and transferred to East for playing time.

I gave credit in another post or thread that they beat Maiden for the first time in school history. Only beat East twice if I have that correctly and #2 was last week. If you look at the overall polls like me, you'd kinda wonder why West is still ranked higher than North. I looked and they are. That should change when they play East provided East can handle em' cause they've been struggling alittle. I just give credit to West as well, they are doing pretty good compared to most years. Also in my last post if you look were I said "although they have struggled too" I was talking bout Maiden. But as you look at the Lincolnton game against West Lincoln, they put up a fight and showed West' vunerable spot and that is against the pass. Wolf mentioned that, I didn't.

I hope I didn't offend ya wecribb. I always enjoy your input. Looking forward to a good conference title Bandys showdown but I wouldn't have the fellas looking past Newton or Lincolnton yet. Im super proud of the defense this year for North. My hats off to em.

It was Norths defense last year that gave them a low rating starting out this year. Once they patched that up its made a monster difference.
