Running late I know; figured I'd post it anyways.

1.Mount Airy
2.East Wilkes
3.Wilkes Central
4A.East Surry

4B.North Surry
4C.West Stokes

These two finally will lock up tonight as North hosts West. Even if a winner is determined it might not be enough to break the lock that’s been at the 4th spot all year. All three teams are talented enough for the spot and it will probably stay that way.

7.Starmount +1

The Rams got a statement win as they walloped North Wilkes at their own game last week. NW’s always been a steady thorn for Starmount since 2013 so this win was sweet. Starmount is in an interesting position. Don’t see it happening but if they beat Central and Ashe they can get 2nd place. Just don’t see Starmount having the horses to get Central but Ashe it should be a good game. But then again MVAC play at the top tends to get intresting.

8.Ashe County +1

The Huskies finally cracked East Wilkes last week as they forced the Ronda Cards to play a whole game finally after many weeks of easy wins. That alone is worth the rise. Not many see it but Ashe is playing solid Football right now at their most needed time. They gotta win out to have a chance at even a playoff spot. This week they got West who’s on a downward spiral. It would be a good revenge win for the Huskies as they prep for annual thorn Starmount.

9.North Wilkes -2

The Vikings of Hays worst reality is hitting as injuries is starting to pile up for them and the JV’s have to gutted again. It resulted in a thud vs. Starmount last week. The next two games however it should be better as they face lower teams in Alleghany and West Wilkes. However the Vikings shouldn’t take these 2 lightly due to being rivals. They got West as they were thinking the same way last year.

10.South Stokes

South managed to pull out of the hat not a rabbit but one of their usual thriller wins in Kernersville last Friday. It was badly needed as they need some momentum as they finish up conference play. They won’t get East this week but they have North Stokes next week and want to finish it up on a good note.

11.Elkin +1

The Elks managed to pull the upset on West Wilkes last week much like I figured could happen. Elkin’s speed and passing game just wore them down. This week however it won’t be as easy for the Elks as they play East. East has always had their way with Elkin so this may be Elkin’s chance to try and change that. Even if they do fall they got 1 more shot at a win next Friday vs. Alleghany in chance to settle the score from the past few years.

12.Atkins +3

Atkins is definitely the surprise of the area. No one expected them to have 4 wins on varsity and be 2nd place in the WPAC JV conference; no one did. You’d be lying otherwise. I had their ceiling at 3 wins on varsity; it’s amazing to think they are less than 8 points from having 6 wins. Just comes to show how well a job David Hamlin’s done there. It may be rough next year due to losing all the seniors but the Camels have came a long way from the nuclear Puryear finale season 3 years ago to now.

13.Forbush -2

The Falcons inconsistency is showing again after getting reemed by North Surry for homecoming. The Falcons have tended to play North tough but this year it just didn’t happen. It coulda been much worse really as North coulda scored 50+ but they missed on some scoring chances. Forbush is all over the place this year and they are hard to figure. Big Zane Johnson’s back but he’s not the same player. He was scared to get hit by North last week. Forbush might as well prep for the future with just 2 games left. This week they face a very young Walkertown squad who badly needs a win; this may be the Bush’s last shot at a W for the rest of the season. I see a thriller potentially here.

14 Surry Central -1
15.West Wilkes -2

West’s free fall continues as they lost to Elkin. It won’t get any easier this week as Ashe comes to play with their Air Raid.

16.Alleghany -1

17.Bishop +2

Despite their loss Bishop’s turning the corner as a program. It coulda been easy for them to barely win a game but they have won 3 and upset Atkins early. They got 1 more shot at a win next week vs. Prep but they will not come close to getting MA. Bishop needs to finish the year strong next week so they can get more kids out next year; that’s a great sign of health for them.

18.Carver

The Jackets are off their bye after a inspired loss to North Surry. They go to Dobson tonight to try to get some revenge on the team that had their number the last 4 years. Central was the first team to play with Carver in 2014 as Crowell rarely got challenged then and they knocked them off the pedistal last year. Both teams have nothing to lose here; Carver needs a win bad as they are trying to save face while Central’s struggling to adapt without Palacios. Could be a good game here.

19.Walkertown +1
20.WS Prep -3

21.North Stokes

It’s gonna be a battle of the two lowest teams in Danbury tonight. Prep has the depth and speed edge but the Vikings are gonna play hard regardless of that. Question is can Prep handle the physicality or not? The Vikings have nothing to lose; Prep does because they are fighting for a chance at a playoff spot if there is one.
