Looking at the Southwestern 2A conference, it is very possible that there could be a three way tie for the conference title in a little over two weeks. If East Rutherford beats Shelby and Shelby beats South Point the next week, this happens. Question is, how is this tie broken? Is it a coin toss or is there some other method in place according to conference rules? My understanding is that only two team from this conference get into the playoffs, so does the short straw go home? Three of the best teams in the state and one does not even get in? I have never pulled for Shelby in my life but in this scenario, Shelby needs to beat East Rutherford so that SP and Shelby can dook it out for the conference title in the season finale. Winner will be the conference champ and the loser gets the #2 seed. I know, I know, there are other game to be played which could change things but if either of these three teams lose to any of the bottom three, that team does not deserve to make the playoffs anyway.

If there is a 3 way tie, I imagine there would be some type of a draw. Also, you know there is 0 chance that that any of them will lose to the bottom 3.

A great example of the Shelby football dynasty was last night when a reunion was held at Blanton Memorial last night. The 50 year anniversary of Shelby's undefeated 1968 NCHSAA champions were honored and almost 20 players were back for the celebration.

Before I saw your name I was thinking 98Champions came back, or have they changed their name?

Looks like this year Hibriten may have to play both of them instead of just one like last year. Only thing is they might get Shelby in an early around, which kinda sucks again like South Point Shelby in 2nd round.

You just had to bring that one up. I played in it for Thomasville. Might have been closer with our suspended star, but Shelby was the better team. Better add a W to that NCHSAA or the naysayers will be accusing you of rewriting history.

Lol you are exactly right on that. Yea that was a very good Shelby team that year. Congrats to you for playing in Championship game.

Pretty sure the conference will draw straws in the event of a tie. 1st, 2nd and wildcard. All three teams will make the playoffs with seeding determined the next two weeks.
BTW, RedRaider73, were you kidding when you included Shelby as one of the best teams in the state?
