Every football fan wants to see this one even if it takes some creative politics. The teams who barely get in the playoffs have no chance anyway. We should not split these teams into different classifications for the sake of a meaningless game or two regardless of who "qualifies" for another loss on their record. East Lincoln needs to be challenged by one of our western N.C. teams!
Shelby vs East Lincoln?

I could be wrong, but I think Monroe beat East Lincoln 2 years ago and then lost to TW Andrews for the 2AA. Not surprised all 3 are back in the hunt this year, which could end up being the same scenario if the brackets are similar to that time.
That is correct, Monroe hit a deep pass right before half that changed the mojo of that game and EL never recovered, there were a lot of FR and SO for EL playing in that game that are now JR
s and SR's, EL faced Monroe at Wingate in a scrimmage game this year, they are the real deal, big, fast and mean, they play a lot of guys both ways and bring the house. Seemed to be very well coached and the coaches bring a lot of intensity to the sideline, a lot of fun to watch. Will be interesting how everything shakes, will say if Shelby moves to the Big 2A, Lincolnton could very well be playing for a state championship this year. They are a very good football team.

I think Shelby is better than anybody in all of 2A. However, I wouldn't put Monroe too far behind them.

After seeing EL play this last week against Maiden, I just don't know if anyone can truly slow this offense down. When they are clicking they're easily one of the best I have seen this year, and i have seen quite a few of them. A couple small mistakes kept them from completely blowing a pretty Dang good Maiden team out in the first half. They also did pretty much whatever they wanted to do to L-Town. This may not mean much to most of you who say that they play nobody, but they are doing what they should be doing in these games and will hit the Playoffs running. They have great size on their line and their receivers and fullback are all big solid strong players. Their defense may be lacking a little speed but they are strong and tackle well. Reminds me of the SP defense. When they have the both brothers in on the Defense, they seem to be a level stronger and can cause some issues.
EL has a great team this year and I hope to see them earn their respect this year when the playoffs come. Hopefully we will see that Monroe or Shelby match up and some questions will be answered critics will be silenced. I don't think Monroe can beat the Mustangs this year. Shelby has the best chance at stopping them IMO. It would be a great match and I could honestly see it going either way at this point.
