Just wanted to take a few moments here to say that I was very much impressed by the Shelby program last night. It's very easy to be big headed when you have that much success year in and out but the Golden Lion staff and faithful act like they are down to earth in every way. It's beyond wonderful to see a program where class and respect for every opponent and school is emphasized. If I was a coach that'd be a goal of mine as well. Winning is the #1 thing of course but being better people and teaching you're kids that is also a #1 too. That's what a program should be about. After dealing with some rough instances in the past with out of area teams it's nice to have some respect for a program at the end of the day.

You all's stadium is very nice and well designed and it was fun to see a game on that field. It's in the top 3 of the stadium's I have seen bar none. The guys on here I met you all are great guys too; very rarely do I meet prep people on purpose but it was wonderful and you guys helped to make the experience better. Me and the entire program enjoyed the stay last night and I think it helped the kids open their eyes and be more focused for next year. They can all say "we played Shelby!"

Best of luck to Franklin and whoever Shelby will get next. There aren't very much weaknesses there on that team;that's for sure!

I want to echo what Slasher said. From the time we walked up to buy a ticket, went to the concession stand, talked with fans after the game and spoke with players, it was nothing but class. I was so impressed that a winning program could act so humble. The Shelby players would always pat our players on the helmet after every play. EVERYONE was so nice. This helped ease the sting of my son playing his last high school game. Good luck Shelby and I will be pulling for you guys.

Thanks! I know it firsthand, it's tough watching them play their last game. You hate to see it end.

Good to meet you last night Slasher and thanks so much for the kind words about Shelby and their program.

No problem. You and statsman are good fellas; rarely do me or the staff have a good experience during a ball game so it was rather humbling for me. I hate I didn't have more time to chat; multi tasking takes that away haha.

I'll defiantly make my way down you all's way for a playoff game in the future. :)

Thanks fellows, he (coach) came in with a great game plan.
The insides kick fooled us good, kinda smacked us in mouth, and short screens had yall moving.
Then Josh Smith, no.2 had int, and it got us rolling.
Hats off to coach for it.
I noticed fan support was low, hate that but that is a long ride.
Good luck to your team next year.

too bad Shelby has at least a couple of loudmouthed fans on these forums. but i understand you cant blame Shelby and their overall fanbase for a few bad apples.

Loudmouths, bad apples? I saw you in the Clinton vs N. Lenoir thread brown nosing the heck out of Clinton posters, knowing good and well that you were happy, internally, that they were struggling. It gave you as an ED fan confidence in the event that you all play them later in the playoffs.

My point is, it's one thing to respect your opponent, but it's not everyone's approach to be a phony, brown noser like you. That's what makes these forums good, the various personalities and approaches when debating. Some of us just tell it like it is, give our honest opinion, speak our genuine feelings, yet we do respect our opponents. You can indeed be respectful, but yet confident in your team. You sure were feeling yourself in you all's thread after demolishing a weak Graham team.

Actually I thought the ED posters were straight up about their post on the Graham game. Everyone knew their opponent and so did they. As for Clinton struggling I was at the game and didn't see that. Sure it was close at the beginning but isn't every game. Once the Horses quit fumbling (the reason for the closer point differential) they were well on their way. Lion Attack that passing game the Horses aren't comfortable with? 3 touchdown passes! 96Panther, good luck to you guys against Roanoke Rapids

brown nosing??? lol. to put it bluntly you have no idea what you are talking about. did i ever say i wasnt happy to see Clinton in a tight game early on with North Lenoir? ANSWER: NO!. did i ever say i was sorry that Clinton wasnt playing as well as expected? ANSWER: NO! did i ever say that i hoped Clinton pulled it out and beat North Lenoir? AGAIN, ANSWER: NO! if i did any of those things that would be "brown nosing" as you call it. make no mistake about it i dont root for Clinton to win. however i do respect them as the historically strong program that they are. you seem to be confusing me giving Clinton respect with "brown nosing" as you call it. let me simplify things for you. Clinton is a longtime local rival of my East Duplin Panthers. however they have almost always had the upper hand on us. especially when it came to games deep in the playoffs. do i like Clinton? definitely not! but i do have a lot of respect for them. you can dislike a rival and still respect them in case you didnt know. when i spoke of the "at least a couple of loudmouthed Shelby fans" up here i clearly said that you cant blame Shelby's overall fanbase for a few bad apples. and honestly at the time i wasnt even referring to you. but since you went on the offensive youve made it very apparent that you seem to fit the description of "loudmouthed" very well. youre the epidomy of what i was talking about. for the record if Shelby does make it back to the title game, whether it be against Clinton, or us, or whoever, i hope you eat a big slice of humble pie, and Shelby gets a big L ! oops, i just "brown nosed" Clinton again lol. its very interesting how youre the only Shelby fan up here ranting about my statement. i must have struck a nerve lol.

BROWN NOSE.......... BROWN NOSE............ BROWN NOSE. ANSWER: YES

It was a pleasure to meet you Slasher. Thanks for the kind words.

Ignoring the drama here (apparently it's impossible to not have any on here,) it's nice to meet other stat guys. Not many schools have those. Mostly it's me and West Stokes's stat guy (He does an awesome job as well.) You do it like how I did it my first year; I switch back and forth now; twice as fun as the saying goes lol.

I had to do double duty so it took some of our meet up time out but it was fun. That trip down and the experience will always be a nice memory indeed.

I can say you guys's press box is the best I've been in. I wish the schools around here had that much effort put in.

I use to keep stats for the DarkHorses by in the 1980's, of course it was all handwritten back then and some head figuring! I imagine they have some nice apps for a tablet to help do it now?

I still use the stat book. I haven't upgraded to using a computer program during the game. I prefer the stat book. I like the old school way because, well I'm old so it makes sense, lol. I admire you for filming the game and doing the stats at the same time. I know I couldn't do that.

Too bad the few bad apples of that community are here representing the rest of the good people who support that program.

Honestly busted out laughing at the title of the thread at first but like others mentioned cant judge the everybody based off some of the cocky arrogant posters up here....SHS Lion is a pretty solid guy seems like but the rest i would not even care to meet in person.

I approve this message

@Darkhorse#34 You're a clown, a sensitive and hypocritical one at that. You predict lopsided scores in Clinton's favor weekly, and you base many of your predictions on strength of schedule and common opponents, pretty much the exact same thing that I do, but I have also included my opinion of us or Monroe smoking Clinton, the state champion being out of the west. That's my opinion, which I am entitled to. How dare someone say they'd smoke Clinton? That's what you're really butt hurt about. Bottom line, you need to check yourself, before calling others cocky, you and your lopsided predictions weekly show cockinesss.

I speak for myself in these forums, never appointed myself as the lone Shelby representative, but as far as you not wanting to meet any of us, I think I can speak for us all on this one. Who the hell cares?

When have I slammed a program, ever?!?!? My predictions are in the ball park, too, I call it as I see it. What I do is no different than you, and that's the only thing that strike a nerve w/ me, some of you contradicting yourselves, just as you're doing.
